Should I 301 redirect my old site are just add a link to my new site
-
I used to offer design and web services on a site that is current blank (no content, no links). My questions is should I add a little bit of content, maybe a brief explanation with a link to my new site. Or should I just add 301 redirect. This is purely a question of what is better for SEO and ranking for my new site (not a branding question).

Linda, your advice is spot-on. Thanks for jumping in here. I appreciate it.

Fabric-fabric, Linda is absolutely correct. Please send me a private message if you need help posting your question in its own (brand new) thread, or have any questions at all about how this forum works. Thanks!

fabric-fabric, I see you have asked this question in a couple of threads. The best way to let people see your question so they can help you is to post it in its own thread. To do this, look under "Have a Question?" in the right column and click on "Ask". You will be brought to a page where you can enter your question.

i have two web site one old has better ranking that i can not change it and one new that has no ranking how to transfer it .i am not good at this you can help?

Hi there
If the site has no content, backlinks, rankings, or value whatsoever, I say let it 404 out and sail off into the sunset. From the sounds of things, the site is pretty valueless at the moment.
Is the site currently ranking at all? For any relevant keywords you may see value in? If so, then you should go through this migration guide and make sure you properly implement redirects and notify Google that your site has moved.
If there are backlinks of value, make sure you update those to the new website address.
Hope this all helps! Good luck!

Buying a blog that already has links and authority
Hello, I hope all are well and keeping safe. I am about to launch a brand new website and am looking to get a slight boost of links to get started. I looked on Fiverr, but realise that this may not be the best option. I have found a blog for sale that matches with a section of my niche. SO have a couple of questions: 1. Is it still worth buying blogs and doing a 301? 2. If yes, would it still work if i 301 these to a category of my main blog? 3. According the moz tool, it has a spam score of 2%, I am attaching an image of the spam score from moz. I am a bit lost and would appreciate any feedback on best practice or if anyone has tried something similar. Many thanks Shehzad O92dqn7

Deleting 301 Redirect URLs from the CMS
Hi Everyone, Would there be a negative SEO effect from deleting pages with 301 redirects in your CMS? Does anyone know of an average time of authority transfer from a redirect? Thanks,

Add a non www binding.
Hello, I will ask something that is probably been asked before, but I cannot find the answer, so excuse me. I have a website, www.example.com, and I want to add a binding to my server so when someone also hits example.com (without www in front) to be landed normally to my site. The question is if this will affect the seo of the site in any way - duplicate content etc? Thank you!

Vetting Link Opportunties that are Penguin Safe
I am looking to go after sites that are, and will never be, affected by Penguin/Panda updates. Is there a tool or a general rule of thumb on how to avoid such sites? Is there a method anyone is currently using to get good natural links post Penguin 2.0?

Redirecting old domains for SEO ranking?
It's been a while since I read anything seriously out of the box on SEO but I thought I would see what others thought of the bold assertions made in this article. Most of it revolves around buying expired domains and using a 301 to point them, and their juice, to new sites. This guy makes a living doing this so he has to know a bit more than the average Joe but I'm wondering where the other shoe is and when it drops.

Multiple domains pointed at one site
I know things are changing and the things Google thinks are cheating searchers from finding what they are really looking for are changing too. So, I have multiple domain names that are related to my site, but not the actual site name. For instance, I have a certification program called Certified NetAnalyst that has a few domains for it... .com, .org and other derivatives like NetAnalyst. I would like to point the domains to my main company web site and not create a site just for the certification. Does Google think it is cheating to point domain names with my company branding names to my main web site? What about domain name forwarding to a specific URL, like taking the certification name domains and pointing them to the certification page instead of the main site? Wondering if one could no follow (don't know how to do that) the domain forwarding links so it is not duplicate content? Is that possible in some way? Could you put another robots.txt file with excludes in the domain forwarding url landing page so it would not be duplicate content? For the future I want all SEO "juice" to go to the main domain, but the keyword value of the domain names is valuable. I sure would be grateful if someone that has a good understanding and specific recent experience with Google policy and enforcement could offer some sage and practical advice and perhaps a case study example where Google "likes it" or on the other hand a good explanation of why I may not wish to do this! Opportunity for Redirect?
Hi there! I've got a site selling outdoor jackets and remembered about a friend's old business website (that also sold outdoor jackets) which is now dormant. He's kindly agreed to let me host a splash page on his old domain, or to use the domain to redirect. I wasn't sure if Google looked negatively at redirects, so I suggested the page host option? What do you think? I guess what it would mean is for us to supply our name server details to him, and then ask him to put these into his DNS settings. If we were to host a page in this way, would we add a page of relevant content, a simple link? Would this pull the link juice through? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Matt
