Hi, what is the best way to identify audience overlap? I ask because I manage a collection of sites that I believe serves the same audience and feel that we may be cannibalizing our marketing efforts.

Site A - Is our supplement/vitamin store and receives around 38% of our total traffic. Ultimately, we want people to funnel to this site as it is where they would be converting obviously.

Site B - Is our expert/spokespersons site and receives about 40% of our traffic.

Site C - Is a specific weight loss brand created and endorsed by our spokesperson and sold on Site A. This site gets around 16% of our traffic.

Site D - Is also a specific weight loss program also endorsed by our spokesperson and sold on Site A. It gets the remaining 6% or so of traffic.

Now, all of these sites have a fairly similar focus and I can probably come up with several arguments to either keep or do away with them. I'd like to be able to look at analytics data though, that could help in making that decision. Ultimately, sites a and b would be kept regardless but I have always wondered if we would be better served by consolidating sites c and d into a.

I've got a couple ideas here.

1 - Set up Cross Domain GA Tracking

This would measure literal overlap in users over time. Basically - has this person been on any of our sites before?

I'd probably do this with a new GA UA account to keep the current accounts the way they are.

If you're not doing affiliate tracking between the sites then this added analytics layer may be a good idea anyways.

          2 - Set up Leadfeeder.com accounts

This can show you some information based upon user IP address. Not much different than GA data but fun to look at.

          3 - Analyze email lists

Assuming you've got lists built for each of these sites, compare them in rapleaf or full contact and do a subjective/manual review of the customers that you can pull data on.

4 - Set up retargeting scripts on all of the sites, and then run some retargeting campaigns

You should be able to get some general insights from Facebook, Twitter, etc on basic audience demographics. Basically building a custom audience and then pulling them into Facebook audience insights once you have enough people in that audience group for each site.

          5 - Check social insights

If you have any social followers that are separate you should be able to compare page owner insights on these audiences.

          6 - Keyword Overlap

Use the domain comparison tool in SEMRush and see how much ranking overlap there is. May or may not be relevant to the audience, but I can make an easy argument for a site merger if there's cannibalization there and neither site is ranking 1st for many of those keywords.

7 - Look at conversion data

If you're getting a strong conversion rate from referral traffic from sites B, C, and D, that should bolster your argument. By strong I mean above your site's average conversion rate.

          General takeaways:

From what you've said so far, I think you can make an easy argument to merge sites C and D into the main site.

Site B is the harder decision, especially since I'm not sure how many constraints you have in regards to claims made on site B and the laws surrounding supplements and vitamins. Microsites can go either way IMO - I've seen great ones and I've seen some that never should have been separated. There's an easy SEO argument for merging them but it may not be the best brand decision.

A good relevant example is the bulletproofexec.com site and their upgradedself.com ecommerce store. Pure SEO standpoint would be to merge these 2 sites, but I think they've got a strong brand built up in one and they may not want to sell those products on their main lifestyle/blog site.

Why has my website been removed from Bing?

I have a website that has recently been removed from Bing's index, but can't figure out why. The website isn't new, and it is indexed just fine on Google. These are the steps I've tried: The website is verified in Bing Webmaster Tools and successfully submitted the sitemap. I tested the URL to ensure that Bingbot is allowed to crawl the site I submitted URLs to Bing via the URL Submission tool There isn't a "noindex" on the site preventing it from being indexed When I do a URL Inspection, an error message comes up saying "The inspected URL is known to Bing but has some issues which are preventing us from serving it to our users. We recommend you to follow Bing Webmaster Guidelines." I contacted Bing to ask whether the website was removed in error, but received a reply that the website doesn't comply with Bing's quality guidelines, but they wouldn't go into detail as to which guidelines the website isn't meeting. The website URL is https://www.pardeehospital.org. Can anyone offer any advice or insight as to why Bing won't index our site?  Thank you!

Howdy, fellow mozzers, Does anyone know what affects a given company photos show up in the "Search by Photos" section? I can't find any decent info.. Website ranking stuck on 2nd page of google. How to bring it in top 10 position??

Hi I am working on a site indianhomeappliances.in that for search terms such as 'best washing machine in india' appears near the top of the 2nd page of Googl for url https://indianhomeappliances.in/best-washing-machine-in-india/ When looking at what is listed on the 1st page for 'best washing machine in india' I would appreciate any advice/guidance on what else could be done to give the site a final push to get on the 1st page of search results. I have made more than 60 backlinks along with sites from competitor analysis via moz for this page Looking at the sites that are on the 1st page I cant understand why many of them are ranking higher than me? Any insight and plan of attack would be most appreciated from any  search experts on the forum. My website is 2.5 months old. Many Thanks

Any Tips for Reviving Old Websites?

Hi, I have a series of websites that have been offline for seven years. Do you guys have any tips that might help restore them to their former SERPs glory? Nothing about the sites themselves has changes since they went offline. Same domains, same content, and only a different server. What has changed is the SERPs landscape. I've noticed competitive terms that these sites used to rank on the first page for with far more results now. I have also noticed some terms result in what seems like a thesaurus similar language results from traditionally more authoritative websites instead of the exact phrase searched for. This concerns me because I could see a less relevant page outranking me just because it is on a .gov domain with similar vocabulary even though the result is not what people searching for the term are most likely searching for. The sites have also lost numerous backlinks but still have some really good ones.

            Ogranization Schema/Microformat for a content/brand website | Travel

Hi, One of our clients have a website specific to a place, for eg. California Tourism in which they publish local information related to tourism, blogs & other useful content. I want to understand how useful is to publish Organization Schema on such website mentioning the actual Organization, which in this case is a Travel Agency? Or any other schema would fit in for such websites?

            Duplicate content on ecommerce sites

            duplicate content

I just want to confirm something about duplicate content. On an eCommerce site, if the meta-titles, meta-descriptions and product descriptions are all unique, yet a big chunk at the bottom (featuring "why buy with us" etc) is copied across all product pages, would each page be penalised, or not indexed, for duplicate content? Does the whole page need to be a duplicate to be worried about this, or would this large chunk of text, bigger than the product description, have an effect on the page. If this would be a problem, what are some ways around it? Because the content is quite powerful, and is relavent to all products... Cheers,
