My DA has stayed at 1 for an entire year.
-
Good afternoon.
I recently got hired as an SEO for a site, and it appears that they have been stuck at a 1DA for almost a year. I've been working on them for 3 months now with no improvements.
I'm not sure if this is related but they do not have a traditional ".com" address. There URL ends with ".kitchen"
If you have any idea why this might be happening, please let me know.
It would be much appreciated.
Thanks! -
I got a response from someone at Moz over an email and they confirmed this to be true. They don't support custom Top Level Domains, so they can't crawl ".kitchen" - Thanks everyone!
-
That link was helpful and from only a few days ago. It confirms your suspicion.
Thank you. I'd still use those other tools though, to gauge whether your efforts are paying off.
-
I saw a response from someone at Moz to someone with this same issue - they had a .cc domain. The response was that Moz currently don't support custom TLDs. Most likely .kitchen is also affected by this. See here for the discussion.

Hi Taylor,
Here's a Moz post that discusses possible reasons (and remedies) for the 902 error.
Your domain authority might be stuck at 1 for a couple of reasons:
- The Moz crawler is abandoning your site (because of the 902 error).
- The Moz crawler is skipping your site (because it doesn't crawl every website every update).
- The Moz crawler isn't finding all (or enough of) the backlinks pointing to your website. If you have few link sources, the likelihood of this occurring increases.
- Your efforts aren't making an impact.
Are you using other sources to check your backlink profile? Maybe Google Search Console, Majestic SEO and/or Ahrefs? Are they showing progress and improvement? If yes, you're likely on a good path and need to resolve the crawl problem to see that reflected on Moz.

I appreciate the response!
I should have prefaced this a little more; I've been working in the SEO industry for 4 years now and I have a good grasp on how to properly linkbuild / run a campaign. I've gotten results for plenty of clients over the years.
I've been getting relevant, authoritative backlinks for this client as well as adjusted their On-Page Optimization for the better.
It appears they have a 902 Error Code from Moz. Google Webmaster Tools is able to crawl the site, but Moz for whatever reason isn't it. I looked into our web hosting platform and even contacted their tech-support team for help. On their end, it says that the crawl abilities are active and there shouldn't be a problem.
Yet there's still a 902 error and their DA hasn't moved at all. sigh

Hi Taylor,
What has been your plan of action over the past three months? It would be helpful to know what things you've already tried!
Do you have a strategy in place to get high quality backlinks to the site? One of the most important things to remember when trying to build your backlink profile is that you need to focus on quality, _not _quantity. For example, it’s not about how many links you can get to point back to your site—it’s about how good those links are. One link from a reputable, authoritative website is better than 20 links from a spammy website or site with a domain authority of 2.
When reaching out for backlinks, look for websites that provide value to their visitors. If visitors stay and interact with said website until they find your link, search engines will take a cue that the linking site is engaging and provides relevant value to the user’s online experience. When that site chooses to link to your site, it’s another clue to Google or Bing that your site will enhance the user’s experience even more. For some more tips on backlinks, check out this blog that we wrote.
Hope this helps!

Site Name as displayed in serp is a completely random company in an entirely different industry!
Hello! I am looking at a site that has its site name displayed incorrectly in the SERPS. The site name is showing as a company from the airline industry while the site in question provides hypnotherapy services. This issue is on every page except the homepage. I have checked source code and the structured data. Local business structured data with the correct company name - I can't find anything at all in the source code that refers to this random airline! Thank you for reading this and for any ideas or suggestions! Here is a screenshot that illustrates the issueUntitled.jpg

Magento 1.9 SEO. I have product pages with identical On Page SEO score in the 90's. Some pull up Google page 1 some won't pull up at all. I am searching for the exact title on that page.
I have a website built on Magento 1.9. There are approximately 290,000 part numbers on the site. I am sampling Google SERP results. About 20% of the keywords show up on page 1 position 5 thru 10. 80% don't show up at all. When I do a MOZ page score I get high 80's to 90's. A page score of 89 on one part # may show up on page one, An identical page score on a different part # can't be found on Google. I am searching for the exact part # in the page title. Any thoughts on what may be going on? This seems to me like a Magento SEO issue.

3 Wordpress sites 1 Tumblr site coming under 1domain(4subdomains) WPMU: Proper Redirect?
Hey Guys, witnessSF.org (WP), witnessLA.org(Tumblr), witnessTO.com(WP), witnessHK.com(WP), and witnessSEOUL.com(new site no redirects needed) are being moved over to sf.ourwitness.com, la.ourwitness.com and so forth. All under on large Wordpress MU instance. Some have hundreds of articles/links others a bit less. What is the best method to take, I understand there are easy redirects, and the complete fully manual one link at a time approach. Even the WP to WP the permalinks are changing from domain.com/date/post-name to domain.com/post-name? Here are some options: Just redirect all previous witinessla.org/* to la.ourwitness.org/ (automatic direct all pages to home page deal) (easiest not the best)2) Download Google Analytics top redirected domains about 50 urls have significant ranking and traffic (in LA's sample) and just redirect those to custom links. (most bang for the buck for the articles that rank manually set up to the correct place) 3) Best of the both worlds may be possible? Automated perhaps?I prefer working with .htaccess vs a redirect plugin for speed issues. Please advise. Thanks guys!

Any reason not to redirect entire directory from old site structure to new?
I'm helping on a site that has tons of content and recently moved from a 10 year old .ASP structure to WordPress. There are ~800 404s, with 99% of them in the same directory that is no longer used at all. The old URL structures offer no indication of what the old page contents was. So, there is basically no way to manually redirect page by page to the new site at this point.....is there any reason not to redirect that entire old directory to the new homepage? Matt Cutts seems to think its OK to point an entire old directory to a new homepage, but its not as good as the 1:1 redirects: http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=93633 Any thoughts?

Site #2 beats site #1 in every aspect?
Hey guys, loving SEOMoz so far and will definitely continue my subscription after the free trial. I have a question however, which I am really confused about. When researching my primary keyword, I have found that the second ranked site beats the top site in every single aspect, apart from domain age, which is almost 6 years for the top one and 6 months for the second. When I say every single aspect, I mean everything. More authority for the page and domain, more links, more anchor text links, more authoritive links, more social signals, more relevant links, better domain (although second ranked site is a .net), better MozRank, better MozTrust etc.... I have noticed though, that in the UK SERPs, those sites are switched, so #2 is actually #1. Could it be that the US SERPs just haven't updated yet, or am I missing something completely different.

301 - should I redirect entire domain or page for page?
Hi, We recently enabled a 301 on our domain from our old website to our new website. On the advice of fellow mozzer's we copied the old site exactly to the new domain, then did the 301 so that the sites are identical. Question is, should we be doing the 301 as a whole domain redirect, i.e. www.oldsite.com is now > www.newsite.com, or individually setting each page, i.e. www.oldsite.com/page1 is now www.newsite.com/page1 etc for each page in our site? Remembering that both old and new sites (for now) are identical copies. Also we set the 301 about 5 days ago and have verified its working but haven't seen a single change in rank either from the old site or new - is this because Google hasn't likely re-indexed yet? Thanks, Anthony
