Subdomain vs Domain

I have a single product website running in a one page layout
my web have some internal pages such as, terms and conditions, policies and so on.
But in order to get a better ranking I decided to create a blog in the website, but my IT team told me that we can do it but in a subdomain.
The main domain use cakephp with a configuration oriented to security ( we had bad experiences with normal cms or ecommerces)So the structure of the website will this one
- www.mystore.com for the ecommerce
- blog.mystore.com for the blog
So my questions are:
How is going to affect my seo?
Is there any difference betwen mystore/blog.com vs blog.mystore.com?
Wich is the best option for Google Analitycs / Search Console a single property or 2 properties?If you know some post or tutorial related with my question will be appreciated

Difficult one, it is anybody's guess how search engines will see the blog vs. the main site. In my experience subdomains do rank separately, but I guess it's determined by how the two sites are linked.
You definitely need to do cross-linking (blog to main site and back again). Not as good as having it on the main site, but definitely better than nothing, and you may get lucky.
If it was me I would link to various pages on your main site from the blog and banners pointing back to sections of the main site and run a lead capture strategy.
Also...
I don't know your company, but if security is an issue you need to have the same policies in place for the blog as the main site.
On the security front, you need to give high priority to the following as a minimum:-
- Work hard on preventing cross site scripting.
- Copyright media with visible watermarks.
- Consider intelligent country blocking if appropriate.
- Make sure people have to login to comment/make/add any content.
- All forms protected with image capture.
- Run some sort of web firewall (scans all data going to or from the websites for any threats).
- Restrict admin page to make sure it is only accessible by you (using IP address and similar).
I could keep going, but those are the main things, best to consult with a security professional. You need to be especially careful of social engineering.

thanks @seoman10 for your answer, the main reason of separate the website of the blog are our security policies and I have no control about it. IT and marketing are diffrent department in our company.
So in order the be proactive I proposed to create our blogs in subdomains, my plan is use the blog to create backlinks, post, content and infographics and related material with my audience.
But I want all the rank and the authority to main website.
Base in what you mention I will have 2 websites and all my effors will not impact my main website.So do you have any suggestion

I'm a bit puzzled why you say you can't put a blog on your normal website. There may be some technicality I am not aware of but in the digital space most things are possible.
With regards to SEO search engines can treat sub domains as separate websites. I would plan for having to do twice as much SEO work. If it was me I would put my blog on the main site, that way links to your content will benefit the entire website not just the blog.
With regards to Google analytics if you are using different sub domains I would use a property for each.
I used to dislike CMS myself and would always go with custom-built. Nowadays the tables have turned CMS's are fast easy-to-use and relatively low-cost.
If you're strapped for time worthwhile looking at a website builder that uses WordPress.

Hi there, Got a question on cross domain tracking: We have a couple of TLD's to serve localized content to our visitors, next to our main .com TLD where our app is running as well in a subdomain. Situation is this: Local sites:

Cross Domain Tracking for multiple sub-domains with multi-lingual and culture versions
Hi, I have a question regarding cross-domain tracking that I haven't seen answered completely elsewhere. A client has a main domain, we'll say www.example.com and 4 or 5 sub-domains e.g. shop.example.com, support.example.com, account.example.com and service.example.com. The different sub-domains are managed by different third parties, with just www.example.com and account.example.com under our control. To add a further dimension, these sites all have multi-lingual versions as folders and in some cases multi-cultural versions e.g. www.example.com/de/ for Germany and www.example.com/ch-de/ for German-speaking Swiss. Not every language/culture has an equivalent site in place for each of the sub-domains e.g. the UK support site serves Denmark and Swiss-German users will use the German site: www.example.com/dk/ links to support.example.com/uk/ for support-based content

Moving forward, they would like to consolidate the data together to be able to see the collective and separate performances. They would also like to be able to see goal completions from referrals when someone clicks from the main domain to the sub-domain or across sub-domains or potentially across language and culture too. I have several questions I would really appreciate some guidance on: What will be the best way to configure Google Analytics to achieve this? Will we need to decorate the HTML links in between each of the sites? Will we need to use a new Google Analytics property? Track subdomains in the same analytics property/view
Hello to everyone, this is my first question (kind of a newbie here :-D). I have a website that spans over 4 subdomains + the main domain and I'd like to have a place where I can see the total page views, events and goal completions. Main domain is langhe.net, and subdomains are eventi.langhe.net, servizi.langhe.net, shop.langhe.net, about.langhe.net. The website is based on wordpress and I'm using google analytics for wordpress by yoast as analytics plugin. The configuration of the plugin is as follows: all the website have the same UA-XXXXXXXX code The Subdomain Traking field (setDomainName) is filled with .langhe.net Cross-Domain tracking is enabled Cross-Domain Primary Domain (setDomainName) is langhe.net Cross-Domain Tracking, Other Domains field is filled with: about.langhe.net, eventi.langhe.net, servizi.langhe.net, shop.langhe.net. In the GA property I've created an Advanced Custom Filter configured this way: Field A -> Extract A = hostname (.*) Field B -> Extract B = request URI (.*) Output To -> Constructor = request URI $A1$B1 Field A Required: yes Field B Required: No Override Output Field: yes Case Sensitive: no I was wondering it this is the best way of doing it, or if there are other "best practice" ways to obtain what I'm looking for (for example with this configuration it's become quite difficult to separate the traffic sources for each website). How to better track subdomains in Google Analytics?
Hello Everybody! so I am setting up a website that will have several subdomains, based on the language of the site, for example: site.com; es.site.com; fr.site.com... How should I trace this is GA but having attention that I should be able to see visits as a whole and also if I want I should be able to see visits per subdomain, anything on specific I should do when creating the account? And after creating the account, how to separate that accordingly? 🙂 Thank you all!

Domain redirect for direct mail (source) tracking in Analytics?
We have a client that would like to do some direct mail marketing and the plan is to use a short/simple domain in the marketing materials, which redirects to the main site domain. By default this would show as a referral traffic source in Analytics, right? So any traffic that came through that redirect would be attributed to "shortdomain.com / referral"? Meaning I wouldn't need to do any sort of customized, advanced tracking set up to track conversions that I've already set up (ecomm and goals) and attribute them to this new source? Just double checking that I'm not overlooking something. Thanks!

Google Links Disavow - Does that preclude new links from a domain?
If using Google disavow links tool and you disavow links from a 'domain' does that mean that any 'future or new links' from that domain will be blocked? Answer Yes is good if the domain is spammy but bad if the domain was submitted in error ........ Answer NO is good if the domain was submitted in error but bad if the site is spammy. Does anyone have an answer to this please? Also is there a disavow 'undo' request process available? cheers, Mike
