    Hi!

I noticed the Moz DA en the Ahrefs DA are very different. Where https://www.123opzeggen.nl/ has a DA of 10 at MOZ, the DA at Ahrefs is 26. Where does this big difference come from? Do you measure in different ways?

I hope you can answer this question for me.

    Thank you in advance!

I see Ahrefs vs Moz have similar parameters. Specifically, my website has more than 2k shares.

I also analyzed a few websites and realized a huge difference in terms of DA. For instance, the website solidhook.ca has a domain rating of 67 on Ahrefs whereas Moz reports 18 (DA). This other website has a domain rating of 31 on Ahrefs but only 14 on Moz. Apparently, Moz bases its tool mainly on Google whereas Ahrefs considers other search engines like Bing. Your site can be performing so well on Bing but not so good on Google, this might be the difference. That's why our website has several posts ranking number one on bing but Moz reports 0 ranking keyword.

Moz is simpler and more useful. It is also more successful in terms of SEO tools. That's why I use Moz.

Moz and Ahrefs are two popular tools used for SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and digital marketing, but they have some differences in their features and focus:

              Scope of Features:

Moz: Moz provides a suite of SEO tools, including keyword research, on-page optimization, backlink analysis, and rank tracking. They also offer a site crawler and site audit tools for technical SEO.
Ahrefs: Ahrefs is primarily known for its robust backlink analysis and competitive research capabilities. It offers features for keyword research, rank tracking, and site audits as well.
              Backlink Analysis:

Moz: Moz has a backlink analysis tool called "Link Explorer" that provides insights into a website's backlink profile, including domain authority and spam score.
Ahrefs: Ahrefs is renowned for its comprehensive backlink analysis, offering detailed information on backlinks, referring domains, anchor texts, and more. Many consider it one of the most powerful tools in this regard.
              Keyword Research:

Moz: Moz's keyword research tool helps identify relevant keywords for your content and provides data on search volume, difficulty, and potential traffic.
Ahrefs: Ahrefs also has a robust keyword research tool that offers keyword suggestions, search volume data, and competitive analysis to help you target the right keywords.
              Rank Tracking:

Moz: Moz offers rank tracking capabilities to monitor your website's search engine rankings over time.
Ahrefs: Ahrefs provides rank tracking features as well, allowing you to track keyword rankings and compare your performance against competitors.
              User Interface:

Moz: Moz has a user-friendly interface that is easy for beginners to navigate.
Ahrefs: Ahrefs is known for its intuitive and visually appealing interface, making it popular among experienced SEO professionals.
              Pricing:

Moz: Moz offers various pricing tiers, including a free trial and plans starting from a lower cost compared to Ahrefs.
Ahrefs: Ahrefs is known for its robust features but tends to be more expensive, with pricing plans that cater to different user needs.
In summary, both Moz and Ahrefs are valuable SEO tools, but the choice between them often depends on your specific needs and budget. Moz is a good choice for those looking for a comprehensive SEO suite with a focus on site optimization, while Ahrefs excels in backlink analysis and competitive research, making it a preferred choice for advanced SEO professionals and marketers.

This is true. I've also noticed a significant difference in Moz's DA and Ahrefs' DA. My website Mzcurioso has a DA of 15 on Moz, but only 5 on Ahrefs. I recently came across this article discussing Moz's methodology: https://searchengineland.com/moz-domain-authority-case-against-431732. I'm not sure which of the two platforms provides the true authority of my site."

                      Hello,

I want to keep this explanation simple. Both Moz and Ahrefs have their own auditing sections that determine DA (Domain Authority) for Moz and DR (Domain Rating) for Ahrefs. The only common factor between them is the backlinks from referring domains. The more high-quality backlinks your website receives, the higher your DA and DR are likely to be. I've personally used both tools, and what I've noticed is that Moz tends to update its backlink data less frequently compared to Ahrefs.

Here's a real-life example: My website (digitlia.com) currently has 14referring domains. Ahrefs shows the same number of referring domains, but Moz reports over 20 referring domains, which is not accurate. This discrepancy is the reason why my DR is 12on Ahrefs and my DA is just 7on Moz.

                        Hi,

I'd like to answer this as simple as possible. I understand both tools have their own audit section that decides DA for Moz and DR for Ahrefs. The only common thing is backlinks from referring domains. The more high-quality link you get for your website the more chances are your DA and DR will increase. I used both tools and what I see is MOZ fetches the backlinks very late as compare to Ahrefs.

A real example: My domain (marketinglad.in) has 15 referring domains as of now. From Ahrefs, I can see the same number in referring domains and from Moz, I see just 4 referring domains and that's not a piece of correct information. That's the reason My DR is 17 and My DA is just 5.

                        I hope this helps.

Thank you for your question! There are many possibilities.

The first and most obvious possibility is just the shape of the model itself. Depending on how the models are stretched onto the 0-100 scale, it is possible that a DA 10 is essentially equivalent to a DR 26.

However, Moz Domain Authority and Ahrefs Domain Rating are two similar metrics but differ in a few critical ways. The most significant difference is this...

Moz Domain Authority predicts the likelihood that your domain will rank in Google based on your link profile, Ahrefs Domain Rating reports the strength of your link profile.  I know this sounds like we are mincing words, but it actually matters quite a bit. Ahrefs might report a higher DR because a site has a lot of links while Moz might report a lower DA because we determined that the specific profile of links held by that site does not correlate with ranking well.

The measurement is different, and based on the datasets that ahrefs and Moz maintain; there is no value in comparing the metrics directly between the two tools.

I would suggest when using either of these metrics that you only compare within a single tool, and between sites/domains in similar (if not the same) niche.

                              Moz Domain Authority [Megathread]

                              domain authority da

Hey Moz Community, We've noticed that there are questions about Domain Authority, what it is, and how to positively impact it. We're here to answer your questions! For a full overview, please see our help hub article here: https://moz.com/learn/seo/domain-authority First, it's important to keep in mind that Domain Authority (DA) is a search engine ranking score developed by Moz that predicts how likely a website is to rank in search engine result pages (SERPs). It is not a Google ranking factor. Domain Authority scores range from one to 100, with higher scores corresponding to a greater likelihood of ranking. Since DA is based on machine learning calculations, your site's score will often fluctuate as more, fewer, or different data points become available and are incorporated into those calculations. For instance, if facebook.com were to acquire a billion new links, every other site’s DA would drop relative to Facebook’s. Because more established and authoritative domains like Facebook will have increasingly larger link profiles, they take up more of the high-DA slots, leaving less room at the higher end of the scale for other domains with less robust link profiles. Therefore, it's significantly easier to grow your score from 20 to 30 than it is to grow it from 70 to 80. For this reason, it’s important to use Domain Authority as a comparative metric rather than an absolute one. The best way to influence your DA is to improve your overall site health with a focus on the quality and quantity of external links pointing to your site. Check out this video for more details on how to impact DA Happy analyzing!

GWMT / Search Analytics VS OpenSiteExplorer

Just had the experience of using OSE data to show what we call "linkrot" to a client -- only to find that GWMT / Search Analytics shows no such thing. Fortunately the client is an old friend and no face was lost, but it was dicey there for a bit as I have come to rely on and reference OSE again and again and again, OSE showed Domain Authority dropping by about 1/3 in the last 12 months, presumably due to old links getting broken, linking sites changing their architecture etc. And of course, ranking is tanking, as you would expect. But Google shows many more (and much more spammy looking!) backlinks. Has anyone had any experience benchmarking the 2 data sets of backlinks against each other?  Dr Pete?
Does one update more frequently than another? Do you trust one more than another?? If so, why?? Thanks!

Block Moz (or any other robot) from crawling pages with specific URLs

Hello! Moz reports that my site has around 380 duplicate page content. Most of them come from dynamic generated URLs that have some specific parameters. I have sorted this out for Google in webmaster tools (the new Google Search Console) by blocking the pages with these parameters. However, Moz is still reporting the same amount of duplicate content pages and, to stop it, I know I must use robots.txt. The trick is that, I don't want to block every page, but just the pages with specific parameters. I want to do this because among these 380 pages there are some other pages with no parameters (or different parameters) that I need to take care of. Basically, I need to clean this list to be able to use the feature properly in the future. I have read through Moz forums and found a few topics related to this, but there is no clear answer on how to block only pages with specific URLs. Therefore, I have done my research and come up with these lines for robots.txt: User-agent: dotbot
                              Disallow: /*numberOfStars=0 User-agent: rogerbot
Disallow: /*numberOfStars=0 My questions: 1. Are the above lines correct and would block Moz (dotbot and rogerbot) from crawling only pages that have numberOfStars=0 parameter in their URLs, leaving other pages intact? 2. Do I need to have an empty line between the two groups? (I mean between "Disallow: /*numberOfStars=0" and "User-agent: rogerbot")? (or does it even matter?) I think this would help many people as there is no clear answer on how to block crawling only pages with specific URLs. Moreover, this should be valid for any robot out there. Thank you for your help!

White Label Version of Moz Pro?

I may have missed it, but is there a white label option for Moz Pro? I have a few clients that would like to login and have a look at competition, rankings, etc. Perhaps something like WebCEO or MySEOtool?

                              Moz WordPress Plugin?

WordPress is currently 18% of the Internet.  Given its huge footprint, wouldn't it make sense for Moz to develop a WP plugin that can not only report site metrics, but help fix and optimize site structure directly from within the site? Just curious - I can't be the only one who wonders if I'm implementing Moz findings/recommendations correctly given the myriad of WP SEO plugins, authors, implementations.
