Google is mixing a product name with a technical term (both have same name)
-
Google is mixing a programming term name with a home product and ranking that programming website on top. And there is another 2 search results from the same website (DA - 56, PA - 55, Links - 71K, RD - 4500). Their positions are 1, 2 and 3. But the question/ answer section is showing question/ answer for both of the products, and there is local section, top stories, images, videos, Wikipedia, amazon, ad and an e-commerce site which is showing the home product. There are in total 7 results, and 1 ad. Google also showing description of both of the products on the right.
1,2,3 - Programming website, 4. Amazon, 5. Wikipedia, 6. Wikipedia, 7. E-commerce
How difficult it could be to outrank the top result?
-
Thanks for the explanation...
-
Probably not very, as long as you stuck to their theme and didn't change to the product-related theme, which as you can see (evidently, from Google's results) ranks lower
Some keywords have very obvious intent, e.g: "buy SEAT Ibiza Mk IV Facelift 2016"
Some query-spaces are messy. The keyword can mean multiple things, so multiple audiences (by performing the same search, yet clicking upon radically different sites) are competing over a query-space and making it a bit... Schizophrenic (polarised)
Even in a polarised query-space, Google usually has a preferred thematic relevance for a keyword. Since some programming site is beating Amazon, Google is obviously trying to coerce searchers to accept the programming definition (not the product definition). So you probably could displace that top site, but if you're going to jump from programming relevance to product-based relevance, you may just end up 'another' site underneath (boo!)
Hope that makes sense

Display Networks Less Expensive Than the Google Display Network/GDN
Hi Everyone, Are there any display networks that are notably less expensive than Google's Display Network? By this, I mean less than $0.01 U.S. CPC's for real people and not bots. On the Google network, I've tried the trick of opening a sister account with a cheaper currency, but in the end, I wasn't able to get much lower than $0.01 U.S. per click after converting back to U.S. dollars. Thanks, Andy

Affiliate URLs Indexed in Google
We have an active in-house affiliate program which has a create-a-link function where affiliate, as in most affiliate programs, can build links back to our content to produce sales. The problem that I am seeing is that some of the affiliate URL versions are being indexed in Google rather than the original page. For instance.. http://www.ourdomain.com/page_start.aspx?affnum=F025212&Start_Page=RaceCar&referrer=createlink is outranking... http://www.ourdomain.com/racecar This presents 2 issues for us. First, this presents duplicate content issues obviously. Second, we pay our affiliates a portion of the sales so, in order to maximize profitability, we'd like the indexed pages to be the original version. What's the best way to handle this? I want to make sure that affiliates continue to get credit for links from their sites but search engine links should go to the original versions.

How many characters will Google read in a header space on a page?
We heard that Google will read about 2,000 characters in a page header. We are using DoubleClick and need to insert more than 2,000 characters in each page header. Any insight?! Thanks!

Income potencial of a website from ad platforms in terms of the daily traffic?
Hello all, I would like to have an idea of the potential monthly income for traffic generation (I mean just for visits to the website and not considering the sales of any given product or service) in a website, in the case I am using ads&marketing platforms for ads diplays. I know it can be very variable, depending on sales achieved, leads generated,etc...but just focusing on traffic on the website, what would be a reasonable figure? 1000 visits per day?= $1 dollar? 100,000 visits per day?=$??? Thank you very much for the help and support, Antonio

Google Panda & Effects On Affiliate Sites
Quick Question, We all have heard that outbound links for affiliate marketing will be filtered via Panda however how does this work when using the Google Affiliate Network URL's? Has anyone found different signals with using Google vs. Another Network?

How long will it take for Google to forgive us?
Hi all, The last few weeks we started working on several affiliate websites. All was fine, the number of pages indexed in Google increased, rankings increased, visitors increased but; After two successful weeks Google noticed what we were doing and decided to crash our party. What we did; Create an affiliate website presenting shoes for ladies (15.000+ pages)

Create an affiliate website presenting brand shoes only (25.000+ pages)
Both sites were new domains and we linked them to each other. Biggest boo boo's we think we have made; We didn't put a no follow on the affiliatelinks We linked the websites to each other causing google to spot 25K new links to a new domain. Stuffed the index with 40K new pages out of nothing Didn't exclude the correct parameters in webmastertools so all items got indexed a multiple times. The above resulted in a drop of 95% of visitors and 3 weeks down the road we gained 10% from our low point. All boo boo's are corrected the last few day's and now we are wondering; How long will it take for Google to forgive us? And are we correct in concluding we messed up big time? Hope to hear your insight and let this story be a warning to others trying on this endeavour. Kind regards, Gerwin0 -
Passing Google Analytics Variables Through Javascript?
Alright so here's my situation and hopefully someone can help... I want to be able to pass Google Analytics variables onto my affiliate links so I have some better conversion tracking data (not PPC traffic so no easy dynamic keyword insertion variables). I want to do something like this: User searches "keyword" in Google > User lands on mysite.com > search data is assigned to global variables that I can use in my affiliate link redirect script. afflink.com/?id=123&keyword=[GA keyword variable] Anybody know how I would go about doing that? I've seen other Non-GA tracking scripts do this but I can't figure it out here and it's driving me crazy! Thanks,

Drew EDIT: Just figured it out after a lot of guess and testing... I'm not sure if the way I'm doing it is the fastest, most optimized way but it works. Solution: I can pull the GA cookie and break it down to retrieve the keyword using PHP. For anyone searching for this in the future, here's how I did it: $gacookie = $_COOKIE['__utmz'];
$keyword = substr(strstr($gacookie, 'utmctr='),7); ?> Then I can use the $keyword variable wherever I need it. I haven't actually tested this on a live site yet but everything is working fine as of right now. If anyone has a better solution please feel free to answer.0
