Global SEO Targeting
-
Hi,
I have a website currently on the domain example.co.uk (.com is not available)
I'm looking to enter other markets such as Brazil, Russia - obviously content will need to change to suit the desired market / language.
I'm looking for some information on the best practice to enter foreign markets.
I was thinking maybe to create individual sites for each location eg: example.br example.ru
This way I could localise each site in terms of business directories, content, language etc.
Or
have my example.co.uk with various languages on it
Experience, suggestions are welcomed - thanks.

Thanks for the input John,
Considering im on .co.uk & .com is unavailable
Based on your suggestion I think its best that I create a another website using .ru & best to build that...
Cheers..

If you create individual sites for each location, this will automatically geotarget your sites in the SERPs for those countries. Each site will be starting from scratch in terms of domain authority, but if you can overcome that hurdle you'll be off and running.
If your original domain was a .com, it seems more normal to have the directories for different languages, but with a .co.uk would that be weird? I'm an American and .co.uk sites don't pop up on my radar all that often. Doing it the way that NicoDavila has pointed out does have the bonus of providing your current domain authority to each localization of the site. Then you can set those to geotarget those country specific directories in your site in Google Webmaster Tools, and by setting the language & country in a meta tag or in your HTTP headers (for Bing & other search engines).

Thanks for the reply but it's not really useful. I'm aware of that method & mentioned that the .com is not available therefore I need an alternative method. Hope things work out for you

Hi Socialdude,
Im working on global market but in on of my sites I have 3 languages on the same domain (same TDL). I read somewhere (I think was a Google article about multiple languages) and this article says that there are ways to do this properly. The way I choose is:
www.mysite.com/es ---> Spanish
www.mysite.com/en --->English
www.mysite.com/pt --->Portugues
I set the htacces in order to redirect the language of the computer/browser who is seeing the website. Anyway the user can change the language.
Then I have all my baclinks to .com or com/es,com/en,com/pt.
Check Google guidelines for mutiple languages.
I hope this could help you.

Static or dynamic category pages for seo
Hi, I'm developing an accommodation site with a limited number of properties in 8 categories. I had been looking at making the properties blog posts and then using category function to show lists but its going to require a lot of customisation and I have seo concerns about the dynamic content as the category page is crucial. As I don't have a lot to add and listings will remain the same my latest thought was to create all as pages. However if I create a page with a list of 12 properties on a category page is there anyway of adding some sorting criteria to that page (would be 7 options - swimming pool, near beach, on site creche, budget, mid-range, luxury) Thanks for any tips Neil

SEO trending down after adding content to website
Hi
Technical SEO | | swat1827
Looking for some guidance. I added about 14 pages of unique content and did all of the on page SEO work using Yoast - have 'good' status on all of them some of the website architecture was changed - mainly on one page. That being said, we got a significant bump the day I implemented, however every day thereafter we have had very bad results. Worse than we had before for about 3 days now. I did resubmit the updated sitemap to GWT and I'm showing no crawl errors. Also, curious if my Robots.txt file could be the issue. All it contains is User-agent: *
Disallow: /wp-admin/ Any insight or advise is greatly appreciated!

SEO Checklist
Ok I know that this would be a huge over-simplification but I am wondering if there is (at least a bird's eye view) a checklist of SEO do's and dont's? I checked to see if something like this existed but could not find one. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks~

Name Servers & SEO
We have decided to create a few blogs and will eventually be linking to some of our clients. I have domain privacy and different class C addresses for each of my domains. But the name servers area all the same. Ex: If we create an article for one client on all 5 blogs, will the name servers be a problem?

Ecommerce SEO with 130 keywords
Hello everyone, My name is Davys and I'm what you call a newbie...so the question may sound stupid....But where we go. In this campaign I will be targeting around 130 to 150 keywords to my store. So here is the technical question. What is the right way of indexing 150 keywords? Should I attempt to have all 150 going to www.mysite.com or should I break it down into smaller pages if I can put it that way. Like www.mysite.com/pages/bikiniwax for example. Even if I break it down, what is the right amount of keywords that I should SEO per page? Or do 150 pages? Please helppppppppppppppppppppp.... 🙂 Thanks a lot for your help.

Managing SEO during web site migration
We have an old web site which currently has good traffic and search ranking. However, the old design is not helping us convert traffic into customers and we have decided to re-design the web site. Due to challenges resolving 4XX issues in the current setup, we will be moving the site to a new CMS and hosting provider. The domain will remain the same. The plan is to create exactly the same pages in the new CMS, as what we have today. And to use the same URLs for each page. Content will remain the same in step one. We will only apply a new layout and design. Besides keeping the URLs the same as in the old system. What else should we be aware of when doing a web site migration, that might impact our search ranking?
