Hello, I'm looking to change a business address to a new one on a Google business profile (still in the same area but on a different street).

So, I'll need to update all citations and website with the new address - Is it recommended to update the citations & website first, and then change the address on the Google business profile, or vice-versa? Looking to do this as safely as possible without negatively impacting the rankings much.

I'm seeing a lot of conflicting information on this. Thanks in advance.

@Rehankhan1 To update your business address on Google Profile for "custom home builders Windsor, Ontario," log in to Google My Business, navigate to the "Info" section, and update your business address. Ensure consistency across all online citations like Yelp, directories, and local listings by editing your NAP (Name, Address, Phone number) on these platforms. This ensures local SEO ranking stability and prevents confusion for clients searching for your new location. Always double-check for consistency to avoid ranking drops.

              @UpLinkSEO Sure! Here’s a concise plan:

              1. Update Google Business Profile First:

                • Change the address in Google My Business.
                • Complete any required verification.
              2. Update Your Website:

                • Update the address on all relevant pages.
                • Update schema markup with the new address.
              3. Update Citations:

                • Start with major citation sites like Yelp and Bing Places.
                • Ensure consistency across all platforms.
              4. Monitor Impact:

                • Use Google Analytics and Search Console to track changes.
                • Check for and correct any discrepancies.

This sequence helps maintain consistency and minimizes ranking disruptions.

What we would recommend is as soon as possible update all of your companies NAP information, on your website, on your Google Business profile, and on business citations such as Yell, our WordPress web design company has just rented new offices, and we know changing our address can sometimes impact the companies organic SEO.

To change your business address on Google, sign in to Google My Business, select your business, click the 'Info' tab, edit the address, and verify it. For better SEO, ensure consistent NAP across directories, leverage social media like Facebook Reels (using a facebook reel downloader), and encourage customer reviews.

Hello! When changing a business address on your Google Business Profile, it's generally recommended to update your website and citations first before changing the address on Google. This approach helps ensure consistency across the web, which is crucial for maintaining your search rankings. Once your website and citations reflect the new address, you can then update your Google Business Profile. This sequence reduces the risk of discrepancies that could confuse search engines and potentially impact your rankings. Consistency is key in local SEO, so taking these steps should help you make the transition smoothly without negatively affecting your online presence.

Here's the recommended approach to minimize any impact on your rankings:

Update your website first, ake sure all instances of the old address are replaced with the new one. This includes your contact page, location pages, and anywhere else the address appears.
Submit the address update to Google My Business: After your website is fully updated, you can proceed with changing the address on your Google Business Profile. This ensures Google has consistent information across all sources.
Following these steps helps maintain consistency and minimizes the risk of confusion for search engines.

                                    Here are some additional tips:

Set up redirects, You can set up 301 redirects from the old address on your website to the new one. This helps search engines understand the change and ensures users still land on the correct page.
Monitor your rankings: Keep an eye on your search engine rankings after the update. If you see a significant drop, reach out to us and we can help diagnose the issue.
I know there can be conflicting information out there, so I'm glad you reached out. By following these steps, you can update your address safely and minimize any impact on your search results.

What Service Page Strategy Should We Use to Target City-Specific Local Intent Service Keywords?

local seo local ranking factors service pages content optimization service based website

Hey guys! We are targeting a number of cities in the Nassau and Suffolk County areas for foundation repair, insulation, and mold remediation keywords, and we were debating on creating city-specific pages for each location and service, or creating one service page for each type of service that contains all of the services and solutions within that service category for each city. Example: City-Specific Pages for Each Service: One page for say foundation repair, one page for foundation crack repair, one page for foundation problems, etc. (for each target city) Service Category Pages for Each City: One page for foundation contractors that lists all services on one page in sections. Which one do you think is better for local SEO and rankings? Both seem to have their advantages and disadvantages to me. Just to throw a couple out there, the category pages may not rank as high as the city pages for each individual service if our competitors have a whole page designed for that service and we only have a part of a page covering the topic. At the same time, they would save labor hours, technical issues would be less, and they would be condensed, and we would have WAY less mess on the backend. I appreciate your expert opinion on this one. The site is www. zavzaseal.com in case you want to check us out.

That is how long does it take for a business to see an increase in sales, because of the business investing in organic or local SEO. It ultimately comes down to how competitive the business sector is, we do know that. We are just wondering what various SEO companies tell their clients. Is it for example, they have to wait a minimum of six months of paying for SEO, before they can get the business on page one of Google? Or, instead, do you carry out an SEO audit at the start, and then make an estimate for how long it will take to get the business on page one of Google?

                                      New business / content marketing

                                      local seo

Hi all SEO experts, if a website is brand new, so published in the last 3 months- new domain name and website design. We have rebranded recently, using a new domain as entered new business partnership, there doesn’t seem to be much guidance on this at all, from various SEO websites, so our question is would you delay publishing new blog posts / content marketing as frequently because the company website is brand new? So would SEO’s decrease the frequency of publication of blog posts, because the website is new? Or perhaps it does not matter, and would still post every week as you would if the website has been live for a long time? So, in nutshell, what we are wondering is, is the “Google Sandbox” still in use?

Moving from single domain to multiple CCTLDs

cctlds international seo hreflang 301 redirects change of address tool

Hi, I have a website targeting 3 markets (and therefor 3 languages). I was currently using a single domain with each market being targeted in the following format: www.website.com/pl
                                      www.website.com/de
www.website.com/hu It's clear to me by looking at organic results, that in my industry (Real Estate) Google is putting a large emphasis on local businesses and local domains. Top 10 organic results for all my keywords in all markets have country specific CCTLDs. I decided to migrate from a single domain strategy to a multi domain strategy. I own the domains. The new structure is www.website.com/pl -> www.website.pl
                                      www.website.com/de -> www.website.de
www.website.com/hu -> www.website.hu All the website have been added to google search console and 301 redirects are in place and working correctly. The pages are all interlinked and have rel=alternate to each other. The sitemaps are all done correctly. My question is how do I tell Google about this. The change of address feature only works for changing one domain to one other domain. It's been a week and the old www.website.com domain is still showing up (even considering 301 redirects). Or do I just need to be patient and wait it out? Any tips?

How to rank in Google against a business with the same name?

My client has a coworking space in London, but shares its name with a recruitment company also in London. When searching for my client's brand name, they don't appear anywhere on the first page as this recruitment company dominates. How can I rank prominently for my brand term if there is someone else in these top spots who isn't a direct competitor (in the typical sense)? Thank you!

Considering Switching Domain from .ca to .com for Service Area Business - What is the Risk / Reward?

Hello, Thank you to anyone who takes the time to share their thoughts on this. I will preface this by saying that I am very new to the community and have lots to learn, so please forgive any obvious errors on my part. That having been said am very happy to receive positive criticism and feedback 🙂 Quick Background: We are a high end mobile wellness business based in Toronto Canada offering in home/office servicing including: yoga, pilates, nutrition, meditation, chiropractors, etc... As we are expanding  we are transitioning form new leads coming from business partners and word of mouth to driving new business online As such we have an new Squarespace site (which is the first site I ever built, so any feedback is welcome) and are venturing into social media, SEO, local citations etc... for the first time We have a significant content catalogue originally  for client and instructor education that we are now repurposing for this new digital adventure but have not yet deployed While currently focused in Torotno, we have plans to expand to several other countries in the next two years. As the site is quite new and we have little content or incoming links I was thinking now is the time to switch to .com from .ca before we roll out Website: www.anahana.ca Risk Reward? & Other Issues? Both domains are currently verified with Squarespace, and it seems easy enough to switch. What could blow up by making this switch which I might not be aware of? Our emails and business card use the .ca, but I don't think this would matter too much 6-12 months out... is there something else I might be missing on this? .com and using subfolders or subdomains as opposed to country specific TLDs ? This is something I am still working on understanding, but from what I have learned thus far, if we are going to progressively roll out a large content library, is it not better from an SEO standpoint to have this all in one domain? Local SEO and legal considerations for TLDs when operating local Service Area Businesses. I am sure there are many other angles here that I am missing and am not really looking for any hard answer on much of this, but any general advice, suggested resources, and experienced insights would be extremely helpful. Thanks so much, cj

Local Search - Google Mobile Results (Web&App)

Hi, I have a client with multiple locations. One of the locations manager is searching for branded and non-branded keywords on his mobile phone and not able to locate the business (within the parking lot of the location). Our ranking reports via a local search platform and manual checks indicate the location is actually ranking well. and we're seeing progress in GA. Has anyone deal with something like this before? This is a location that recently opened to the public. The concern is around mobile web and app results. I'm looking for some guidance around how to approach the situation. I'm sorry I cannot provide more details on the client.
