      Hello there!

A Google-AdWords-guy call me for give me advice about how to optimize my last campaign in google Adwords.

He told me to “Capitalize Each KeyWord of the Title” of the ad to catch the attention of the users in it.

      1. Does it make sense to apply this “rule” in the title tags?

      2. Does Google interpret this like “hey, you are trying to manipulate the SERP click-through! You are cheating, now go down in the SERP!”.

      3. Do you think this rule works also for the tweets?

Ok, I hope I’ve been clear enough to expose my issue. Any comment, advice, test or experience that you share about this is appreciated.

      Thank you!

        Hi Stephan,

I don’t want to use tricks to cheat Google, what I'm trying to figure out is just if "Capitalizing Some Keyword in Italian Language", that is not grammatically correct (for the Italian Language, please see my reply to Ryan) can cause me a better click-through-rate or a penalization.

Just want to know if some of you try this in organic SERPs and not only in AdWords ads, or faced the same problem in his SEO work.

Thank you so much for your answer! 🙂

Thank you Ryan for the answer!

Yes by capitalizing each key word I mean “Just The First Letter Of Each Word”.

Now I have an extra issue on that: in Italian language is not properly correct to add capitals in some letters of the title.

For example, in a Wordpress post

          a) in English “I Can Use the First Letter in some Keywords and it Still Remain Grammatically Correct.”

          b) In Italian I cannot use the first letter of the word capitalized because is not grammatically correct. In Italian is correct the capital for the first word of the titile and generally for the nouns.

In your opinion, capitalizing the first letter, also if in Italian language is not correct, is a good idea as well as in English?

          And, most of all,

do you think Google “knows” this difference and for that Google can be suspicious and give us some penalities?

I don't think Google will treat a capitalized keyword any different for ranking and such. In this case I would really focus on what looks best to the customer.

Remember your first priority should be usability and small tricks usually don't work.

I would like to clarify what you mean by capitalizing each key word.

If you mean representing the entire word in capital letters such as MICROSOFT then, no. I believe Google has measures to prevent that action in AdWords. I would not use the method in title tags either.

If you mean MicroSoft or Microsoft where you capitalize the first letter of each word, then yes I would recommend that action for adwords, titles and even tweets. You are properly calling attention to the keyword which can be helpful for users.

                  Hi there,

A 'Google-AdWords-guy'? Was he a google employee or just somebody trying to offer you a service?

                  1. Regarding the capitals, You should optimise it so it reads easily and IT'S NOT SHOUTING AT YOU LIKE THIS. (Sorry for the capitals; thought it would make my point clearer)

                  2. If your title texts looks legitimate and words are not all in capitals unless they are abbreviations such as 'SEO', you should be fine.

                  3. I doubt anyone will take you seriously if your text doesnt look legitimate. But thats my opinion. Again, try to bring attention to words which are key to your topic or subject but do not make them look out of place on purpose.

For example if your topic was ice cream in the london area try; 'Ice Cream in London' or 'London Ice Cream'. Simple and effective.

Hope this has cleared the issue up for you.
