Thanks for trying to help - the issue is with the website, so a reinstall won't help.

RE: Problem with Yoast not seeing any of this website's text/content
Thanks for your advice - this time Yoast have responded with the following:-
"By default, the Yoast SEO Premium plugin only detects texts contained in the standard WordPress content box. Are your contents written somewhere else?"
Therefore it looks like the issue is with the site as I thought, and it won't be resolved, thanks anyway.

Problem with Yoast not seeing any of this website's text/content
Hi,
My client has a new WordPress site http://www.londonavsolutions.co.uk/ and they have installed the Yoast Premium SEO plug-in.
They are having issues with getting the lights to go green and the main problem is that on most pages Yoast does not see any words/content – although there are plenty of words on the pages. Other tools can see the words, however Yoast is struggling to find any and gives the following message:-
Bad SEO score. The text contains 0 words. This is far below the recommended minimum of 300 words. Add more content that is relevant for the topic.
Readability - You have far too little content. Please add some content to enable a good analysis.
They have contacted the website developer who says that there is nothing wrong, but they are frustrated that they cannot use the Yoast tools themselves because of this issue, plus Yoast are offering no support with the issue.
I hope that one of you guys has seen this problem before, or can spot a problem with the way the site has been built and can perhaps shed some light on the problem. I didn't build the site myself so won't be offended if you spot problems with it.
Thanks in advance,
Ben

RE: SEO and Squarespace? Is this Really an Option?
Hi,
Thanks for the reply - I have just about managed to convince the client that he should move his website http://www.cssgplc.com/ over to a new platform as I couldn't solve the issues easily for them, and their developers were not interested in finding a solution.
thanks again,
Ben

Hi Biljana,
I am interested to know if you ever resolved your issues with Squarespace as I had the same problem a few weeks back and couldn't find a solution?
thanks,

RE: What is best practice for fixing urls that have duplicate content, non-static and other issues?
Thanks Dirk, that is good to know. The pages do rank very well, so I think I'll ignore my previous thoughts regarding how the URLs should look/behave and leave them as they are for now.
Many thanks!

What is best practice for fixing urls that have duplicate content, non-static and other issues?
Hi,
I know there are several good answers regarding duplicate content issues on this website already, however I have a question that involves the best way to avoid negative SEO impacts if I change the urls for an ecommerce site. Basically a new client has the following website http://www.gardenbeauty.co.uk and I notice that it suffers from duplicate content due to the http://www version and the non www version of the pages - this seems quite easy to fix using the guidance on this website. However I notice that the product page urls are far from ideal in that they have several issues including:-
(a) they are mostly too long
(b) don't include the keyword terms (in terms of best practice)
(c) they don't use Static URLS
An example of one these product urls would be http://www.gardenbeauty.co.uk/plant-details.php?name=Autumn Glory&p_genus=Hebe&code=heagl&category=hebe
I'd like to address these issues, but the pages rank highly for the products themselves, therefore my question is what would you recommend I do to fix the urls without risking the high positions that many of these product pages have?
thanks,
Ben

RE: Google Analytics Linking
Hi Dustin,
I too had this problem once, and I couldn't work out how to solve it - in the end I deleted the campaign (it had only been running for a day) and set it up again from fresh. This time I used the correct Google Analytics profile and it worked as it should. I'm sure there is probably another way to fix it, but I had nothing to lose from starting the campaign again - I'll be interested to read what other answers you get, so I can learn the 'proper' way to fix this.

Thanks Tom (and also Sanuel)
I had hoped this was the case. Cheers!

Meta description not showing in search results
Hi,
One of my client's websites is not showing its Meta descriptions in search results. I've looked at the html and have noticed that they are using ' rather than " around the description tag (see below)
<meta name="<a class="attribute-value">description</a>" content='<a class="attribute-value">Student Accommodation in Portsmouth or Southampton - Fully Furnished Studios, Close to the Universities. All Inclusive Rent with WiFi. Going Fast, Book Now!</a>' /> Is this likely to be the problem, or am I missing something very obvious? The website is http://www.unilife.co.uk/ Many thanks, Ben

RE: Best use for a second domain?
Thanks Tom, I had already mentioned to the client that a resource for film and production editors might be the way forward, as his blog posts that are performing best are of this nature already. I don't think they have the budget for much offline advertising, so although your first suggestion is also good, I don't think it would be right for these guys. I'll do some research on other resoucre websites for the industry and then discuss with the client again. Thanks.

Best use for a second domain?
Hi, I have a client who has a website with its brand name in its URL and this is not very keyword friendly as it is just numbers http://www.44-16.com/ -- the website has been up for a few months and is starting to see it traffic increase (mainly due to PPC). The client has told me that they also have another URL which is directly relevant to the industry they are in and they have asked me for advice on the best way to use the second domain.
Would it be best to create a second website that has several links to the main site (although new content, not duplicated content) or would a blog be the best option for the new site? The existing site does have a blog that generates some good traffic so they'd have to be writing two blogs I assume? The client doesn't want to stop using the first site and I want to give them the best advice to make the best use of this second domain.
Thanks!

Pintrest links not showing on Open Site Explorer
Hi,
sorry for the 'simple' question, but I have one client who has a Pintrest link which shows up on the Open site Explorer (Page Authority 60, Domain Authority 100) and a second client who also uses Pintrest but their link doesn't show up on Open Site Explorer. I didn't set either of the clients' Pintrest pages up myself, but I can't see why the 2nd client's page isn't showing up in Open site explorer:- http://pinterest.com/unilifestudents/photoshoot-park-house/
as it looks to me like it points to the main site http://unilife.co.uk as it should do.What am I misunderstanding here?
thanks,
Ben

Why has my keyword dropped and risen so much in only 7 days?
Sorry if this question is really obvious (or unanswerable) but my client asked me for an explanation and as a relative SEO 'noob' I couldn't really answer them.
The client's site http://www.solentlep.org.uk/ dropped 29 places for the keyword LEP last week (all the other keywords had small rises and falls) and then this week has jumped back up the same 29 places. I made no changes to the site in the 7 period (as I hadn't worked out what to change) and although everything is fine now I'd still like to let the client know what caused the blip, or is it one of those things that 'nobody knows'.

RE: Affiliate links
I'd have to agree with this - content is king for attracting back links. 8 )

New EU Laws governing cookies; will Google Analytics still be usable after May 25th?
Hi, first time I've posted a question, New EU Laws governing cookies; will Google Analytics still be usable after May 25th? - apologies in advance if its already been covered, but I couldn't find any answers when I searched - google search showed someone else ask the question already, but no straight answers were given:-
From May 25th the Privacy and Electronic Communications Directive will come in to force which prohibits the use of cookies without informed, prior consent from web users. I've been trying to research to see whether or not this will affect Google Analytics. The Directive seems to be designed to prevent behavioural tracking, rather than web stats, but after reading the directive (with no law experience) I'm fairly confused by what will be prohibited. If anyone has any thoughts on the matter, I'd be very grateful!
