Does anyone know how to go about getting a page name on Facebook of less than 5 characters?  I saw Moz was able to claim facebook.com/moz (BTW, congrats on the redesign!), and many other brands also have claimed page names under 5 characters.  Has anyone else had success claiming a short page name?  Do you have to know the right person at Facebook, or are there other requirements?  We have around 35K likes on our page, and our site gets a pretty good amount of traffic.  My boss doesn't like any of my ideas that are 5+ characters... she really wants the short URL. If anyone has any insights on what I need to do (or who I need to talk to at Facebook), I'd really appreciate it!

I thought I remembered reading a post on the Seomoz blog awhile back about how someone worked on the Pimsleur community and grew it through adding content and reviews to their site.  However, I can't seem track it down now, despite my best attempts to Google it. Does this article exist, or am I taking crazy pills?

Hi everyone! What I need is a way in Wordpress for the author to select a category for their post, and then have a template come up with some fields in addition to just the large field where you write your post, where the author can add some additional information.  Then on the final post, have that information added to the top in some format that I (as the admin) can control. What I'm doing is setting up an internal company blog so our employees can have more visibility across teams.  Some categories of posts will always include the same information, like release numbers, conference attendance, yes/no conclusions, among other information. If there's a plug-in for this, free or not, that would be great!  If you can't tell I'm a Wordpress noob... so please bear with me. 🙂

In the new blog post here, she links to mobilemoxie, a site which allows you to do searches on various different smartphones.  I tried a search for my brand, "ixl.com" on an iPhone 4 and a Android phone, the Motorola Droid X.  On the iPhone, our brand appears in #1 like normal, but on the Android phone, our result doesn't appear on the first page. Any ideas as to why this would be the case?  We're currently developing a mobile version of our site but we don't have one yet.  Could that be the issue?

If you search for the site "ixl.com" in Alexa, for some reason, it's showing the site as "302 Found" instead of showing the website name, IXL.  If you drill into that, it shows the site as ixl.com, but underneath that, it says "302 Found" again.  Every other site I search for seems to show the site's name properly.  I have no idea where it's getting this "302 Found" from.  Does anyone know how to fix this? Hey guys! Suppose I disallow search bots from indexing anything on my secure server in my robots.txt, and 301 redirect all of my secure server traffic to my non-secure site.  Will the search bots see the redirect before they realize that they're disallowed from accessing that page?  Or will they see that page is disallowed and not follow the redirect? Should I change my robots.txt to allow search bots to crawl my secure site so they can find the redirects?

Do these mile-long pages with a call to action at the bottom really produce more conversions? For example, see http://www.keywordelite.com/. Has anyone A/B tested this format vs. breaking up the content into tabs or some other format with multiple pages? Personally, these turn me off as they seem disorganized, they take forever to read, and they always sound like scams.

A little background: The site I'm working on, www.ixl.com, is a math practice site for pre-K through 8th grade.  Our content consists of math skills where we randomly generate math problems, grouped by grades and topics.  We have around 300 skills per grade. The question: We don't currently have a twitter feed, Facebook page, or a blog.  I'm working on setting these up, or at least a twitter feed and the Facebook page first.  I'm wondering, what kinds of things will we tweet about once I get a twitter feed set up?  What kinds of things should we be tweeting about?  Things like online education articles?  And articles about teaching math?  Do you guys think that would be compelling enough to get followers and make this productive for us? Another question, how important do you think a blog is, compared to a twitter feed and Facebook page?  I was thinking it would be fun to set up a blog, and post math questions from the site 2x or 3x a week, as well as other content that could overlap with the twitter feed.
