/es/ or /es is up to you has no real difference just decide on one and keep the same link through the whole website.
/es is good for users ex: spanish users will want to look for your website and they would know /es is in spanish (after they have viewed your website and found that you have a spanish version). Is good for seo to keep url simple and easy. /es better than principal.html
First of all i think it would be better to have an url like domain.com/es/
if you have different languages.
It would be ideal to hire someone who is fluent in Spanish as software translation does not sound right.

I personally think that font size does not affect SEO. Rather the right size, spacing of the words and the type of font would count for your clients staying and reading your website (bounce rate) that affects SEO.
More or less that was were we are going. My concern is that if we leave the categories on the left as main target for the keywords cat/keyword we would loose the importance of the main nav.
Will google treat the same way(importance) even if it's on the left and not in the main nav bar?
If so what would you suggest to put at the top if all categories/keywords are targeted?

1. What would the best url category for the shop be /products/ - current url cat
ex: /products/door-handles.html
2. What would you use for the main menu as section for getting the most out of SEO.
Personally i am thinking of making 2-3 main categories on the left a section where i can add content to it (3-4 paragraphs... images maybe a video).So the main page focuses on the domain name more and the rest of the sections would focus on specific keywords, this why I avoid cannibalization.

1. I don't think in the domain name you should use your city unless you want to improve rankings on specific keyword match
ex: you want to rank better for car dealer chicago
If you buy cardealerchicago.com exactly it will help you a bit but any other variation ex: if someone searches car dealer in chicago you domain won't get sort of the boost it need because is not exact match....
SO unless what i mentioned 1st i suggest buy a domain that is easy to remember for the user so when he comes the 1st time straight away they remember the domain they landed. Great for further advertising, marketing etc.
2. Now by reading your question again seems like you have the domain name domain.com/ and you are wondering if you should use it in the url /car-dealer-chicago
I think it depends on your on-page optimization if you can format you content to have these car dealer chicago everywhere then i think you can aviod using it in the url IF your website is showing ONLY 1 car dealer you should aviod that. If listing multiple car dealers in a specific city then yes definetly use it.
So response 2 in my opinion avoid using city name in url as google knows the cities etc if you mention it in your content unless you list multiple car dealers in a specific area.
Keep it short, clear and simple... everyone loves that including Google.

I think that if you keep the same [seo structure - url, title, h1, content, etc] you should not drop in rankings at all

I suggest your give the products (franchise) use their own sort of domain(logo) but add franchise [your logo].
1. Their Own Domain
2. Their own product description even if it's the same product (maybe add your logo to make sure people recognizes the brand.
3. Design does not matter (urls, title, description, content etc counts) as Google cannot read images or colors
