Internal links
-
Hi,
I am working on a project with very few really important pages - its now about 20 pages and this number will not increase to more than 30 by the end of the year. Today the majority of these Pages is 2 clicks away from the Homepage for navigational reasons.
Now I am wondering:
1. If I should set links from the Homepage directly to these Pages to pass more juice?
2 If you would suggest so - how would you recommend me to do this in Terms of usability and SEO?thanks in advance for your help.

Thank you!

Hey Sebastian,
Right off the bat I would say go over this article real quick:
http://www.seomoz.org/learn-seo/internal-link
More to your question though, you'll want to talk this over with someone looking into your site specifically (your SEO). This really depends on the type of site you have, the competitive nature of those deeper pages, what you consider a "conversion" and how one would actually convert.
If your homepage plays a major role in your funnel, then you may not want to put too many links on it. If you want those deeper pages to rank, and they need a little extra juice then it may constitute placing a link on the homepage.
If you have some historical information (traffic, conversion rates, etc.) then you may also want to keep an eye on that. If you gain rankings and lose conversions, why? Is is because the added links took away from the desired flow?
In regard to implementation, it again depends on your site. I wouldn't jump on any changes just for SEO if it's going to have an undesired effect on your overall performance. I hate giving vague answers like that, but it's important to make the right changes depending on your goals.

Yes that is the idea,
How to do it, well thats hard to say, but a menu on the home page would be good, but dont have a full menu on every page. what you want is the home page and any panding pages to have lots of incomming links, and your pages you dont want to rank to only have one of a few
this page explains it

Navigational Links in Dropdown Menus
Hi Mozzers will navigational links in dropdown menus carry the same weight for Google, just as navigational links that are always visible to the user do? Thx, Chris

Cornerstone Page And Outbound Links
I have a cornerstone page and 10 related articles that all have links to the cornerstone page. My question is, should the cornerstone page link back to those 10 articles as well or will it lose juice by doing so? Thanks in advance 😉

Too many on page links - created by filters
I have an ecommerce site and SEOmoz "Crawl Diagnostics Summary" points out that I have too many hyperlinks on most of my pages. The most recent thing I've done that could the culprit is the creation of number product filters. Each filter I put on the page is creating a hyperlink off that page. As an example, there's a filter available for manufacturers. Under that, there are 8 new filter links, thus new hyperlinks. On one category there are 60 new links created because of filters. I feel like these filters have made the user experience on the site better BUT has dramatically increased the number of outbound links off the page. I know keeping it to under 100 is a rule-of-thumb but at the same time there must be some validity to trying to limit them. Do you have any recommendation on how I can "have my cake and eat it too?" Thanks for any help!

How to handle lots of outbound links
I decided to create a page on my website where I would list all of my favorite resources and 3rd party tools. There are now 35 links in the main content section of the page, all with anchor text, pointing to websites in my industry. My question is this: what is the best practice here? Should I add nofollow tags to the links? Should I do something else to indicate that these links shouldn't be crawled? Frankly, I don't mind passing some link juice to these tools (in this case, and from this particular website), but I might make a different decision with a client's website. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Here is the page I'm referring to, in case anyone wants to look: http://willmarlow.com/resources-2/the-digital-marketing-toolbox/. Thanks!

Canonical links
My website is relatively new, January. We climbed steadily to 6th for our search term then overnight rocketed to 1st. This only lasted a week and have been stuck at 9th ever since. When I use the SEO Moz tools our site should theoretically be top...I only joined today btw. Anyway in Google webmaster tools I noticed it said I had duplicate title tags, when I checked to see what the pages were- it was my home page! Google also seems to have cached two versions of our homepage, the root domain and the Default.aspx page. Now I have fixed this canonical linking issue today (using canonical link tag and 301s) so time will tell but has anyone got any first hand experience of this issue? Was it a big factor? Thanks!

Can my amount of internal linking seem spammy ?
Ecommerce site. I am optimizing for each producer of products on a separate page. Atm my provider does lack some functions(i cant put in H1 , title and can put text only product pictures) on the product pages - like here http://www.epleskrinet.no/smafolk/M_23 . The are updating within 1-2 months to allow me do this. This has led to actually some of the products themself ranking higher that the producer page. what Ive been doing is to put anchor text and link back to the producer page for all 9 products on this page. Is that a problem or should i just do it like this ? thanks
