Linking Facebook activity and your post
-
Hi everyone, I'm sure you know how images tend to do better in Facebook. The problem is, if I post an image on Facebook, and link to a blog post in the comment of that image, the activity of that Facebook post wouldn't be pulled into the blog post.
That is, the blog would show 1 "like" when the post on Facebook is actually getting 150 "likes".
That wouldn't be the case if I posted a link instead of an image.
Does anyone know of a work-around?
Thanks.

Yeah definitely!
-
Thanks George! I get quite a few people clickthrough, but it would be ideal to pull that data together.

Ahh OK. I don't think you're missing anything. Facebook will use a thumbnail, yes.
In that case, I don't think there's much you can do if people are just liking your photo and not clicking the link. Perhaps including more text describing the benefits of clicking through would help them click and then include sharing capabilities on the post will influence some of the visitors to like/share.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help!

Thanks for the response George! Our site has the markup, but when I post the link, and Facebook pulls the image, it only pulls the thumbnail, not the full image.
On a Facebook user's stream, a thumbnail and a full image are very different. The latter takes up a lot more property, and therefore gets seen more, and interacted with more.
Is that right or did I miss something?

Use an image in your post and then open graph markup on your blog pages. Then when you post the link to your blog post to Facebook, Facebook will pull in the image from your post and maintain the link to your post (not the image).
Here are a few posts for how to do it:

Why am I seeing so many referalls to my root domain from Facebook in Google Analytics?
When we look at referalls from Facebook in Google Analytics, more than 50% (and sometimes upwards of 80%) of the traffic we're getting is listed as landing on our root domain. The thing is, we don't have any direct links TO our root domain on our Facebook page. So is this legitimate traffic, and how are they getting to our page if we have no links to it? We do post links to stories, videos, etc, but those are to the individual pages, not to our root domain. When I look at those pages that we link to, they do have traffic numbers, but nothing compared to the root domain. Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks.

Facebook and SEO
Hello, recently we've noticed my companies Facebook page (www.facebook.com/dishcostsless) is not being crawled by Google. When you type in DISH Costs Less Facebook it does not show up, even when you type in the exact URL there are no search results. We used screaming frog to check out the back end of the page and there are no meta tags like there are on most FB pages. Also we noticed there were two re-directs; one from the http page to the https page, and the other directed the https page to the http page creating one giant cycle. We think this has something to do with the problem but not sure. Is there anyone who has had a similar issue, and how did you fix it? We'd love to be assured that the search engines are tracking our interactions on Facebook for SEO purposes.

Getting more fans on Facebook
Does anyone have any tips or experience on how they increased their Facebook fan base? I work in the oil/fuel industry and getting people to like your Facebook page is quite difficult because our customers are mostly middle-aged men, who if statistics are to be believed aren't the most active on social media anyway. I've been doing regular posts for the past couple of weeks, liking other pages and joining conversations but don't seem to be getting any increase in followers. Does anyone have any advice, ideas or examples of what you did that worked? Thanks

Best practices to add Facebook comments to wordpress blog?
Our website (noahsdad.com) has a very large and active Facebook group (http://facebook.com/noahsdadcom). Often there are more comments on the Facebook posting of a link, than on the blog post itself. I try to get people go and leave comments on the blog, but they don't get it. So I'd like to try to find a way to get Facebook comments to transfer to our site. I"m not sure the best way to do this....either via a plug in, or via these instructions https://developers.facebook.com/attachment/Comments_Best_Practices_FINAL.pdf/ I'd just like to get it going..and not mess up the comment's I have now. (Also not everyone has Facebook, so I'd like them to still be able to comment the 'old' way (name/email). Hoping someone can help point me in the right direction with this. Thanks.

Facebook Page vs. regular website
Thought experiment... All other things being equal (content, inbound links, etc), which will rank better: a Facebook Page or a regular website? Why?
