How best to roll out updated website to new responsive layout
-
We are having an issue about when to upload newly converted pages to website.
By going responsive we are basically going with a new layout, different look entirely.
I think it's best to wait until every page in the site has been transferred over to the new layout. Partially because some urls are being updated too, and the look is different enough that it may look like half the site got hi-jacked.
My partner thinks rolling out/uploading each page as it is complete is the way to go.
Need input on pros and cons of either method.

Good advice.
Still think mobilegeddon is going to hit big and soon.
Glad for this brief transition before Google makes good on their promise.
We are working on quotes for other companies that don't understand the possible repercussions of upgrading to responsive site, even though their business is already impacted by refusal to use and work with the tools Google supplies to optimize their site.
Thanks

Appreciate your feedback.
Working at a fast clip to get entire site launched by 5.21
Prefer working assembly line vs. section by section or page by page.
Noticing a slight downturn from Google, just enough to keep me motivated.
The majority of the competition in our niche still needs to go responsive, but no longer looking back to see if they are catching up.

In fact, it would be really strange for users to use a site on which design changes from one page to another. Thinking about crawling bots, having a different menu structure could lead to a misinterpretation of what is happening on the site.
I would focus on keeping the same URLs after the website redesign, and make sure to create proper redirections if any site has to change.
Also, it is easier to put into production the whole site at once and avoid testing small change after small change. So, as mobilegeddon hasn't been so impressive as everybody thought, I think your position is more correct than your partner's.

Hi,
If you would have asked this question before April 21st I would have said to publish the responsive pages the moment they were ready, even if the remaining pages are having a different design.
At this point, it seems that the impact of Mobilegeddon is quite limited, so if you can finish the complete site in a couple of weeks, I would rather go for the better user experience and present the full site with the new design.
If in the next days the mobile update would have serious impact on search results, you can always decide to publish the pages which are already responsive.
Keep an eye on this post - https://moz.com/blog/day-after-mobilegeddon - if the update really starts having an big impact, you'll read it there. (or follow Moz / Searchengineland / Searchenginewatch / ... on twitter & you'll be to first to know)
rgds,
Dirk

Dr. location website and blog
I use Moz Local to sync my Endocrinology medical clinic website to search engines and directories and it has helped me a lot. However, I want to start a blog that deep dives into Endocrine based issues like diseases and conditions. The issue is I am not sure if I should just add the blog to my Endocrinology Medical Clinic website or Start the blog off on a completely new domain because one day I might want to sell my Endocrinology Medical Clinic but keep my Endocrine based blog. What do you suggest? Also do any of your services help submit blogs without a physical address to search engines and directories like Moz Local?

Using one domain for email and another domain for your website, but redirects...
We are rebranding and our new name is fairly lengthy. We own all main domain versions of our brand name - .com, .new and .org - There is a very high search volume for the new brand name as it is a merger of 2 popular existing brands so want to take advantage of that and use our full name within our website domain name. However, since the name is a little long as mentioned - 25 characters - we also own the 3 character acronym of the new brand so we are debating on using the acronym for our new email addresses. ie name@abc.com so it is user friendly. We would obviously redirect the acronym email domain to point to the longer website domain. Are there any negative SEO effects if we do that? Use the longer domain for the website and shorter acronym for our email? Thank you

Do you think its better to have a published date AND a last updated date ? Does google even look if you updated but left the published date old
Do you think its better to have a published date AND a last updated date on Posts ? Does google even look if you updated but left the published date old I was thinking of adding a "last updated" field to my articles. But is it worth it? or should I just keep it uncluttered and leave only the last published date? I would think that Google would not notice if I updated a last updated meta field since their is a published date field already.

Issues with copying online forum reviews on own website
Apologies- I asked a similar question the other day but did not word it as clearly as possible. We are looking at having a text box of 'What customers say' on our product pages using reviews written about us online (to remain factual) and wanted to know if this created any issues relating to search engines finding matching content on two separate websites? Will this have any SEO implications as effectively we are 'plagiarising' the content in the eyes of the bots even though it is just customer opinion of our own products right? Thanks in advance.
