Help - my site is losing rank fast and I don't know what I've done!
-
My site Easigrass.com had been ranking well but recently it's started to fall in the ranks. I don't know why but I've fallen 4 places on the last 2 months for the keyword 'artificial grass'.
anyone willing to take a look and throw me there thoughts?

We work with a firm like yours here in the US so I won't be able to go into much detail, but your site loads quite slowly here even when cached. Also, you said you rebuilt your site recently so it begs the question did you handle the redirects correctly?
On the content front, if you are dropping already make sure you create a sane strategy and that the content is new and not redone. Make sure you are answering queries, etc. BTW With new site did you change any meta descriptions? (For anyone who is going to tell me that is not a ranking factor, it is not about that.)
Have you gone in and looked at traffic change (users flow) since the change?
Hope that helps a bit.

Hi, thanks Verb. I've just managed to get our details for the Google account so will be optimising that very soon. We are hopefully going to be collecting reviews asap. Our old site used to be terrible and used to use subdomains for each local franchisee so I redesigned it and changed them to sub folders. Now we're getting way more traffic but our ranking seems to be slipping. I have some content lined up to be released soon which will cover in depth the keyword artificial grass. im hoping that is going to lift us back up.

Hi Alex,
"artificial grass" looks to be the biggest Seach volume term for you folks on the first page. I see you folks in 15th position with a search volume of 18,000. But this type of search is dominated by the Local 3-Pack, and your headquarters listing is pretty bare, see: https://www.google.ca/search?q=Easigrass+HQ+London&oq=Easigrass+HQ+London&aqs=chrome..69i57.774j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8 my first step would be to optimize that for the term and ask clients if they like your services to give you a review on Google,.
Beyond that I would explore all of your listings for the over regional locations and get them optimized. You might want explore a full on local campaign, Moz Local is pretty hand for that and available in the UK
I hope that helps.

There could be variety of reasons for the loss in rankings. It depends on changes you've made on your website or marketing strategy. What type of strategy have you in place?

Should I Build A Niche City Site or Link to Existing Directory?
I have a main site for real estate that works fairly well. There's city pages within the site. I have been able to get the specific citynamehomesforsale.com domain and now I'm back to the old question of whether to build out a high traffic niche site to capitalize on the exact keyword match or should I just link it to the directory (domain.com/city) Thanks!

G's Keyword Planner - 800 kw limit on search volume results?
I'm trying to use Google's Keyword Planner to pull the search volume for a large list of keywords (2000+). While you're able to upload a CSV of up to 3000 keywords, the search volume search only returns a maximum of 800 keywords per query, which is an issue as I have no idea which keywords it's cutting out. Is there any way around this? I have looked around online, but haven't been able to find a solid solution. Thanks in advance!

To switch high-ranking keyword for one with higher volume?
I have a client who already ranks very well for the keyword "odor removal service" (#3 average rank). I'd like to use this as my primary keyword phrase, but the search volume is not very high (avg. monthly search of 90). A similar keyword phrase like "odor eliminator" has a search vol. of 4400 and the same competitiveness. Even its long-tail derivatives like "natural odor eliminator" still have a much higher volume (360) and would be a more accurate description of the service. In cases like this where you are already ranking well for a relevant keyword (but are still not generating much traffic), is it worth losing that keyword ranking in the hopes of ranking better for a keyword with higher volumes. Just to be clear, I'm not referring to a secondary keyword, but to the main keyword phrase around which we'll be building primary and secondary related keywords. Thanks for any feedback.

Site has multiple services, how to target multiple keywords and what to to about citations
Hi i managing a site that has 3 main services its a hotel, a restaurant and a brewery. It has the word brewery in the name and URL and has for years primarily pushed the brewery side and that is doing well its has a good DA and lots of links point back to its home page. Now the problem is it doesn't rank very well for the term hotel or restaurant, theres only 2 referring domains links pointing to its hotel page. All its hotel citations point to the homepage (which is mainly optimised for the keyword brewery) should i update the citations to point to the hotel page which has been optimised for the search term hotel? or should I leave those and just create new citation pointing to the hotel page. Should i right a few blog posts about the businesses hotel and link them to the hotels page? and then I also then do the same for restaurant? I hope i've explained myself well and would appreciate the advice

How Can I Rank My One Keyword ?
I read many places about never use the same keywords/anchor text this will consider as spam by google, so i want to know if suppose my main keyword is Indian bridal sarees than how can i give rank to that keyword, should i use the same exact keyword but in different format like bridal indian sarees or indian bridal sarees shopping something like that. Should i use LSI keywords in that keywords. Please help Second, I also read some people saying they use 70% primary keywords and 30% LSI or generic words, so that mean if i have 10 articles so in 7 articles i have to give primary keyword and the rest of the 3 will be generic. Keywords and Rank Checker Tool
Two questions about checking the rank of keywords. The easiest way to say this is by example. I have a keyword that SEOMOZ ranks on google in the 32nd position but when I look for that keyword in Google it's nowhere to be found (it's buried deep in the results pages somewhere). Where does SEOMOZ get its keyword results from? How do I non-localize my browser so I can see "global" keyword results? Is there such a thing? thanks in advance.

Is it considered spammy to have multiple pages on the same site optimized for the same keyword?
Is it OK to keyword-optimize multiple pages for the same keyword? Is it beneficial, hurtful, or not a major factor either way?

Should I be optimizing for Keywords that we already rank for?
When selecting which Keywords to optimize for, should I choose all words that I want us to move up for? Like that my company appears ranked for 5, 10, 42, 44, etc.? Or should I select a mix of some that rank well (top 1-2 pgs in Google) /rank near pg 5/ and some that aren't showing up in the top 50 yet? I don't want to waste my time optimizing for words I don't need to. Thanks!
