Asking to be inculded after post has gone live. Bit of a no no? Or common practice?
-
Hi guys.
Just looking for a bit of advice on this one. I don't have a huge amount of experience in the outreach area so advice from you guys would be appreciated.
Question is in the title really...
If we see posts go live that are incredibly relevant to our products, should we engage in any outreach to ask to be included? Or is this just bad practice/ anyoning for the journo/ blogger?
Isaac.

Isaac,
Ask away! Site wont include you if they are not aware that you exist. What better way to let them know then to reach out ask for links back to your quality content.
I would refrain from using spammy language and try to be real and authentic with your approach. Build relationships with the site owners. This sense of friendship can payoff in the long run. But remember your content has to be quality!
Thanks,
Don Silvernail

Many people who own information sites are always looking to upgrade their content. If you have fantastic photos or kickass content that without any question will significantly improve the article they might like to hear from you. I've gotten really good photographs from people who have access to places and things that I don't have access to. I've also gotten really good content from people who know a lot more than I do about specific topics.
If someone accepts your offer they will probably be willing to give you a credit and a link in the photo caption or mention as a contributor with a link in the "about the author" blurb. Sometimes they might add you as a "recommended reading" or a "reference" if you contribute and if your site has information that is a lot better than theirs on a certain aspect of the topic that they have not addressed.
I would not bother people unless your contribution is going to make a relevant and important lift to the content. I've heard from a couple people who have become regular sources for photos and advice... and what they provide is not available from anyone else anywhere at any price. I am so happy that they got in touch.. they have become good friends and now I go to them when I need something. I also hear from people who get deleted, marked "spam" or blocked from my inbox.

Best practice for heading structures on Ecommerce homepages
I have been doing some research into the heading structures of some of the top selling online stores in the UK. One thing that has come to my attention is that many of them do not have H1 elements on their homepage. I am presuming that because they are targeting their own brand on the homepage that they feel no need to have a H1?? Examples are: http://www.boohoo.com/ http://chainreactioncycles.com/ http://www.jdsports.co.uk/home Some of them even use the logo as a H1 such as http://www.missguided.co.uk/ Does anyone think that using the logo as a H1 would have any negative effect from a search engine perspective? Look forward to hearing your thoughts!

Will you show a case study/live analytics of Moz before and after name change?
so many people are interested these days in changing domains either for branding purposes like you did or some people believe that having an exact match domain will save the day. I believe posting any knowledge you have gained through your fantastic looking analytics system could shed light on a subject so many people seem to be asking about. Some things I would love to know regarding the amount of people that you have either gained or lost through organic search along with your ranking for the term "seo" And other things you guys must be learning along the way as well. I would also like to know your opinion of having a meter of some sort tell us just how many new people type in Moz vs seomoz I tink it would be a great topic for people to learn about branding from as well as a way to show off your new analytics. Fellow Mozers to you agree or not? ( I now see all the little tricks you guys have been putting in our head by never using seo in branding for a long time aside from of course your name) Great job on the transition. Sincerely, Thomas PS. Did Roger get a new coat of paint or did you just take him to the car wash?

Structured Data - Best Practice?
I'm currently contemplating implementing ratings on some of our products. Using schema.org what would be the best approach if I have several languages for a product? Can I use the same review setup on these two pages?

www.spamfighter.com/SLOW-PCfighter
www.spamfighter.com/SLOW-PCfighter/Lang_ES Is it possible to do static structured data or does the rating system have to be present and possible to rate? I noticed that Rank Tracker has a system where it's hardcoded and links to reviews. jsOGI9UtqC0 -

How can I increase my brand signal for a common phrase?
We are having trouble with SEO branding. When I search for "designquotes" with the quotes, our site appears with sitelinks and it's great. However our brand name is Design Quotes. Which sometimes we aren't even first for. If I search for designquotes without the quotes, still no luck. Should we do lots of link building for Design Quotes or should we start calling ourselves DesignQuotes and build links with that as the anchor text? website is designquotes.com.au
