I lost traffic from my website and the rankings also gone down... What should I do?
-
I've started working on a project recently (for 20 days) and it got average 1800 visitors per day and the ranking were seemed good. When I started that project, I saw that there were too many plugins installed. I removed unnecessary plugins and keep the importance ones. And I started modify some pages considering SEO perspective. Few days ago I created a backlink in reddit; from where I got way too much traffic in the site at the time and the server gone down. So I have to change the server. Now I see the drastic drop down in both ranking and the traffic.
I am wondering if the ranking affected when I changed the server?
Or
Is there any other way to check why my ranking and traffic gone down?

Unpaid plug: WPMU DEV is a good service for Wordpress as well. With their backup, optimization, CDN, and compression tech their annual fee is still below what you'd pay trying to piece together all those services somewhere else. Plus GREAT support. There used to be a coupon code here in Moz's partner section as well. They might still have a special deal if you ask.
For your situation, you'll want to check to see that your database is still referencing the same URL structure as well (look for things like switching from www to non-www as default or HTTP vs. HTTPS.)
As Sean says, focus on URL structures. If old URLs are working just the same as the ones on the new server, things should be fine.
Do you see any crawl errors in Google Search Console? That will give you some of the best insights.

If you moved it with the same url structure and essentially just cloned it over you shouldn't notice any impact. I recently moved my Wordpress domain with a simple WP Clone plugin over to my VPS and there was 0 change in scores of any sort.
I've noticed the best way to reduce server crashes on Wordpress is to reduce your plugin quantity as much as possible. Granted some themes have a ridiculous amount installed by default, but anything in excessive that you can get rid of is ideal.
I usually try to not at the absolute most exceed 15 plugins, and most of my sites operate with under 5. This greatly lessens the potential crashes, My sites been up about 6 months less than yours and hasn't crashed yet, hopefully my luck streak keeps rolling lol!

Keywords Ranking Fluctuate
Hi Moz Community! I've been working with a client’s website for about a year now. They were hit with the original Panda/ Penguin update because of some spammy links. We have analysed and disavow sapmmy links edit anchor tag and landing pages. We've made a decent climb back while working on it keywords ranking was improved some of them are from out of 500 to top 30, but not a full recovery. There are some weird things happening that I would love some insight into. 1. Ranking for keywords are again dropping and traffic is gone: I notice keyword ranking is dropping and some of the keywords which are on 2 and 3 page, now on 9th page. And also traffic is down. Any help would be appreciated! Regards, S

It appears that no matter what I do, my website is not picking up traffic. What can I do?
I have tried everything, followed everything by the book...yet nothing is happening. I I yet have to try PPC, but I am sure that by now the website is healthy since I have spent from January to the current date fixing every sort of warning and errors. While I have worked on link building strategies(only submitting links to directories for the moment) However the website is dead. What should I do? Is this due to a Google penalty?

Month old site and alreasdy ranks 3 for competitive keyword
I know this individual does this with several sites and then offers them for sale to his competitors. Obviously spammy thru and thru, but how can google reward a site thats not even two months old, with 1900 + links with a ranking of #3 for a highly competitive keyword? Please dont post the actual name or url of the website as we dont want to give him any more credit but this blows my mind as he has done this several times with other sites and never gets penalized. http://tinyurl.com/b9jysa5 Any ideas as to how he can accomplish this besides almost 2000 links in less than 2 months? How is that even remotely natural? I know his other sites have been reported to google but they never did anything about it. Thanks for any feedback.

Why does my competitor rank so well with so many paid/traded links?
Greetings everyone! I've really been enjoying my Moz membership these past few weeks after studying my data and comparing it with my competitors I think it's high time I started asking some questions. The website I manage has a very good ranking history but over the past year we've seen a slight decline in our SERP positions. I don't think this has anything to do with on-page optimization but rather with our link profile. We have only about 10k links total while they have 175k - our mozranks are nearly identical, but his moztrust is 4.46 and our's is 3.51. I am guessing, on our end, I need to remove some of these low-quality nofollow links (though I'll be honest I have no idea how we obtained them to begin with) but what I don't understand is how our competitor is ranking so well because when I browse their link profile, it is filled with paid link and traded link directories that don't appear to be penalized for what they are. I was under the impression that this was bad SEO, but now I am thinking I should just play his own game and submit to these sites too. Looking for any advice or ideas on a better way to compete... ❤ Jennifer
