Our company just did a complete rebrand with a new name and logo. Instagram allows us to change our name, username, logo, and information, unlike Facebook, but there isn't a lot of online content about whether or not that's the best route.  Any thoughts?

Updating your existing Instagram profile is often the preferred choice for rebranded companies with established followers and brand recognition. It allows for continuity and engagement with the existing audience, while also providing an opportunity to introduce the new brand identity. However, if the rebranding involves significant changes or if the current profile lacks engagement, starting fresh might be a more effective approach to establish a cohesive brand image and attract a new audience. Consider the scope of the rebranding, existing engagement levels, technical considerations, and resource availability when making this decision.

It depends on several factors like your existing follower base, engagement, and the extent of rebranding. Updating your existing profile might maintain continuity and preserve herb grinder follower base, while starting from scratch offers a fresh start but can be challenging to rebuild engagement.

Our company just did a complete rebrand with a new name and logo. Instagram allows us to change our name, username, logo, and information, unlike Facebook, but there isn't a lot of online content about whether or not that's the best route.  Any thoughts?

That's an exciting situation! Revamping your brand identity is a big step, and utilizing Instagram's flexibility is definitely tempting. Here are some thoughts on whether to fully embrace the change on your Instagram profile:

Pros of aligning with the rebrand:

Consistency: Matching your Instagram presence to your overall brand reinforces the new identity and creates a unified, memorable experience for your audience.
Freshness: A new name, logo, and information can generate buzz and pique user curiosity, potentially attracting new followers.
Clarity: Aligning online profiles avoids confusion and ensures users easily recognize your brand across platforms.
              Cons to consider:

Temporary dip in engagement: Some users might miss your old handle or take time to adjust to the new name, potentially leading to a temporary dip in engagement.
Loss of discoverability: Changing your username can initially affect your search ranking, potentially impacting discoverability by new users.
Informing your audience: A clear communication strategy is crucial to inform your existing followers about the changes and avoid losing them in the transition.
              Potential middle ground:

Gradual name transition: Keep your current username for a while and add the new name in your bio or story highlights to ease the transition.
Highlight the rebrand: Use Instagram Stories, Reels, or feed posts to showcase the new brand identity and explain the changes to your audience.
Track and analyze: Monitor your engagement metrics after the change to assess its impact and adjust your strategy if needed.
Ultimately, the decision depends on your specific goals and audience.

Here are some additional questions to consider:

How established is your current Instagram presence?
How well-known is your current username?
What is your target audience's engagement level?
How are you planning to communicate the rebrand to your followers?
By carefully weighing the pros and cons and considering these factors, you can make an informed decision about aligning your Instagram with your company's exciting rebrand.

I hope this gives you some helpful food for thought!

I would not advise starting from scratch, unless you want to lose all your followers and all the progress which has been made so far!  If you possibly can redesign and alter the name / URL of the profile, doing that would be a much better idea. The only exception to this is if, your profile has never previously performed well for you and has seen a lot of bot traffic (which may be perceived as negative by IG). If your profile has anything remotely positive going for it, keep it.

                  When Company names confuse search

I am currently perplexed over a client's search results. They are an established company and well known in their field. (Unfortunately, I am not comfortable providing a link or their name.) The company is a consulting firm and let's assume it is an accounting firm, which it is not. When you search on BSC Accounting the results give them the first result but the next 18 results are around education - BSc Accounting. Consider the DA on the site is 34 and the PA for homepage is 39. Is there a chance that when someone is searching on accounting firms that having the BSC in the name skews what they are able to rank for? Forget about searches for their exact name, I am more interested in thoughts as to how the BSC effects general searches for their specialties.

                  Rebrandly vs. Bitly?

I want an alternative to Bitly (because we must change our short domain (BSD) and Bitly Support for its free service is excruciatingly bad; I'd gladly pay). Rebrandly appears to be a good alternative at $100. per year. Can anyone recommend Rebrandly and speak to its strengths and weaknesses vs. Bitly? Thank you.  Rick

Two companies merging into a new website. How to merge two existing websites into a brand new website and preserve search rankings.

Brand A and Brand B are merging to form Brand C. Brand A has a great search presence (prominent rankings, answer boxes, and impressive organic traffic). Brand B has a good reputation in real life but their web presence was extremely weak (we've been helping with that over the past few months and it is improving). What are the steps we need to take? The previous domains from Brand A and Brand B are going away and we need to promote the newly minted Brand C website. This Q/A summarizes what we want to do but with one exception: They only discuss merging Brand A into BRand B and there is no Brand C.

How to get an Updated Logo in Search Results?

I'm having trouble getting a new logo in search results.  My company, RealSelf, updated our logo over a year ago and both Google and Bing continue to show our old logo in image results.  Worst of all, this means that when people look for our logo, they find the wrong one and include that in new, external content. Here's a list of what we've tried: We've modified all the logos on our site with the new one (not including a few PDF whitepapers from before the redesign Added schema.org logo and organization markup Featured a high resolution image on our "Logos" page (top result for "RealSelf logo") Verified wikipedia has the proper image Modified all social profile logos: Twitter, Facebook, G+, etc.. Begun outreach efforts to have high ranking image results update our logo I'm wondering if there are other ideas besides getting more creative/successful with our outreach tactics?

In the Google search results, the company name (with the drop down arrow) next to the result URL is incorrect. The company being displayed here is a company we acquired many years back. How do I adjust/fix this?

When I search any term for my organization, we are getting good results BUT the company name, next to the results URL is of an orgnization we acquired many years back and not the name of our company.  The  URL is correct page JUST the company name next to this URL is incorrect on the Google search results page. How do I go about changing so the company name next to the URL ?

Where Should Your Company Press Releases Live

Hi there, Our company publishes press releases on the company blog and have found we were hit by an algorithm update. We have identified the press releases as being the culprit and would like to move all press releases to a company press page on the main site and title it "press room" or "press." We have a lot of media sites that visit our blog to grab the most recent releases, so they are important to the business. My question is, how should we handle the page SEO wise? Should we do a "no index" or a "no follow" on all the links? I'm curious what advice the community has on how to handle a company's press page. Thanks!!

                  Rebranding/Url Structure Change

Hi Everyone, First off thanks for taking the time to looking at my question. I was wondering about rebranding and URL structure changes. Right now my company is planning on changing their domain and doing a massive change to their site which includes a url structure change. The idea is in September they will be changing the site to be a combination of wordpress and ruby on rails (currently the site is ruby on rails). The homepage and design on the site will be completely different and parts of the site will be in php and other parts will be in ruby. The URL structure will also be changing completely at the same time. Each page will be completely different in structure, including the homepage (currently now it redirects you to a subfolder page that is your local page [i.e. nyc if you are in new york]). Then, the following month, they will be changing their domain name to a different domain. I have asked them to do this in stages. First the domain, second the rebrand, and third the URL restructuring or we could lose SEO traffic but they asked a freelancer his opinion and the freelancer said that you could do the rebrand change with the URL restructure and then domain later and while you're SEO may disappear, it'll definitely return in 3 to 4 months. Could you tell me who is right and what the correct method is to make this change?

Spam in search engine results for company brand name

Hi, I'm having a strange problem with a certain comapny. When you Google their brand name the first 8 results or so are related - their site, Google+ page, Twitter etc. The rest of the results are completely unrelated to the site and much of it is in another language and looks really spammy. According to the site owner until recently the first 50-60 results were related - mostly local results, press releases, and franchise companies listing his business. They don't have a great link profile but that shouldn't have them dropping out of the results, especially since they're still ranking in the top 1-8 positions. Here's the strangest part: the company name is Libertana. All the spammy results are not so much spammy, they're related to the syllable "na". Examples: Ivanyukite-Na Mineral Data įt$koka!na's sounds on SoundCloud - Hear the world's sounds Bosiniya na Herizegovina - Wikipedia What on earth is going on? Why would they rank for the last syllable of their name?
