Will Moz support GA4?
-
With the date for the switchover to GA4 fast approaching, will Moz support it? I can't seem to get any clear answer on this.
-
@gooday2day I think it's live in all accounts now - contact CS if you're not able to see it.
-
Hope to get some update on this soon, it's been some months. Or did I miss something?
-
You can skip that step, as many do - if that's not working for you, I recommend contacting CS
-
@Tom-Capper Hi, perhaps not much data is used from analytics, however when setting up a campaign, you need to select an Analytics property. GA4 properties are not shown. Considering we don't use UA anymore, this is an issue
-
Just to reiterate what's written elsewhere - the vast majority of our tool does not leverage GA data, and many of our customers choose not to integrate it (or use another analytics platform).
That said, I'm expecting something to roll out this week or next.
-
@Tom-Capper Do you have an estimate on when GA4 will be supported? All our websites analytics are moved to GA4, so MOZ will be useless at this moment.
-
It's the mind that some changes have come into it but it's common for my website it still works the same, I have no problem with g4, there are a few options here and there, and now Moz supports it, this is just an assumption.
-
You don't even need to have GA at all for us to track a site - many sites use other platforms after all.
If you had issues skipping that step in setup, contact our help team and they should be able to sort it for you.
-
@CatJam Me too! Moz needs to sort this out ASAP. Or I need to move from Moz.
-
Latest I've heard is that our integration will be updated to support GA4 some time next month.
I should emphasise though, depending what you are evaluating Moz against - most of our peers don't support analytics integration at all. It's not a core functionality, more something that can be used to augment certain reports.
-
@Tom-Capper Thanks for responding. Unless something has changed since I last tried setting up a site on Moz, I think I'm right in saying that the site needs to be using UA in order for Moz to track it? In the past, I have tried setting up new sites that were using GA4 only, and it didn't work. Is there a workaround to this?
-
@Tom-Capper I'm evaluating Moz, but lack of GA4 support will be a dealbreaker. We have too many accounts that are GA4 only.
-
We're aiming to launch before the changeover, I can't say much more than that right now.
In the meantime, can you tell me how you're using GA data in reports/audits, and maybe I can help? GA data is used very little in Moz, so it may be that there are alternative ways for you to get the same information.
Of course if you're just using Moz to report GA data, then we can't replicate that until the integration is complete - although, if I'm honest, it's probably better to present that data directly or in a free but purpose-built tool like Looker Studio than via an SEO tool.
-
@Tom-Capper what is the timeline for this integration? I have new clients with only GA4 set up and need to perform site audits and reports for them and ideally Moz (my most expensive business tool) should allow me to do this easily...
-
Sorry for the slow reply - yes, Moz is planning to support GA4.
That said, we're always interested to hear more about how you use the integration, as we're hoping to build on and expand on the current UA integration as well as just transferring over current functionality.

GA4 showing 2 versions of my homepage
When my website Custom Made Casino switched from universal analytics to GA, i have noticed that now in the behavior section it is showing 2 versions of my homepage which I feel may be impacting seo. It is showing the main url which we use for everything, https://custommadecasino.com/ , and it is showing https://custommadecasino.com/index.php?route-common/home. This was never the case with universal. Does anyone know if this is a problem and if so, how do i fix it so that our proper homepage is what is indexed?

Making the change to GA4?
We have a few clients we routinely do SEO work for, and we have campaigns set up for them here. However, with the change to GA4, how is that going to impact those campaigns? How do we make that switch? Where do we go for that? And how do we set up future campaigns for GA4? Right now it looks like the only option is still for UA, but the switch happens in less than three months, which is a little unnerving.

Unsolved How to setup a campaign for new client who only has GA4
Hi there,
Moz Pro | | DanielDL
We want to setup a new Campaign, but in the step that it asks to connect a GA property, it says we can only use UA and not GA4.
(Also referenced here https://moz.com/help/moz-pro/getting-started/campaign-setup#traffic-connect-google-analytics and here https://moz.com/help/moz-pro/getting-started/connect-google-analytics) But .... how do we setup new campaigns if the client only has GA4 ?0 -
MOZ rankings HUGE drop to 1
Hello, My website's MOZ rankings dropped dramatically to DA 1 PA 1 MOZ rank 0 Backlinks 0. A problem seems that my backlinks are no longer recognised, as there are of course many backlinks active and not the 0 mentioned. Also, I recently experienced a big drop in Google SERP, only for my homepage (main keyword), not for subpages (longtail). I don't know what might be the cause for the SERP and MOZ drop. The only thing I can think of is that the past months I first changed from http://www.mydomain to http://my domain and later to https://mydomain However this was done properly and added in Google search console. Also Google SC does recognise my backlinks still (eventhough most are to the old redirected http://www.mydomain version). Can this be the cause, or do you have any suggestions what might be the cause, or what I can do to find out? Obviously I am interested in finding out the reason for the big SERP drop as this might have to do with the same cause for the big MOZ drop. Thanks! 🙂

Will noindex pages still get link equity?
We think we get link equity from some large travel domains to white label versions of our main website. These pages are noindex because they're the same URLs and content as our main B2C website and have canonicals to the pages we want indexed. Question is, is there REALLY link equity to pages on our domain which have "noindex, nofollow" on them? Secondly we're looking to put all these white label pages on a separate structure, to better protect our main indexed pages from duplicate content risks. The best bet would be to put them on a sub folder rather than a subdomain, yes? That way, even though the pages are still noindex, we'd get link equity from these big domains to www.ourdomain.com/subfolder where we wouldn't to subdomain.ourdomain.com? Thank you!

Will Google start trimming 'stale' sites rank?
With the recent focus on Google to reduce rank of farms and low value sites, I am interested to get SEO view on if you think Google will start devaluing stale sites. I do find it a bit frustrating that in the top 5 for my main key phrase, there is one site that has NO content just an error and another blog that has not updated content in 2 years. How can blogs that do not blog be considered high enough value by Google to rank in the top 5? How can sites that just return 404 or 500 for ALL their pages be even considered a site let alone rank 2nd. I am interested so see others experiences and thoughts on 'user experience' clean ups by Google and why these types of sites get missed?
