Similar Several Articles or One Article
-
I have a Q&A project having content of many different topics.
My question: writing several articles on the same topic will up my rank? For example I work on keyword "Rhassoul clay". So if I write 5 topics about rhassoul clay (400 words) will it be a plus for my webpage or not? Or it is better to write one article with 400 x 5 = 2000 words instead of splitting it into 5 articles? -
I would write one authoritative article that is the best on the web for this topic. It would have lots of high quality photos and be clearly divided into subheadings so that a person scanning can find what he is looking for.
An article that immediately impresses people with images, breadth and length has a better chance of being shared than a large number of articles that cover only snippets of the topic.
Long articles also pull in nice amounts of longtail traffic because they have a huge diversity of words on a page.

Hi Paulius,
This is a good question and one I've come across a lot. There's a lot of messages out there about quality of content, length of content and keywords in content, but I think the purpose of the content is being lost on people. The purpose of content should always be information that is useful to the searcher.
That might mean a 2000 word page, or 4 x 200 word blog posts, a slideshare presentation, an infographic or a 5 minute video. It's really up to you to decide who this content is for and what's the most useful way for you to communicate it to them. If in doubt, check out what other people are doing and what their engagement is like. If you see 2000 word article with 2 shares vs a 5 min video with 70 likes, the video would be the better option... but you might not deliver it right! Experiment, test, get advice and see what works for your brand and your content.
The best content strategies are the ones that are consumer-centric, not search engine-centric.

Paulius,
It doesn't much matter what any of us have to say about this--it has more to do with what the person who would want to link to, or share any, of those articles has to say. That's because, before Google really gives a hoot about whether you wrote six of one or a half dozen of the other, it wants to know if anyone actually found the articles worthwhile. I'd recommend that instead of asking us, go out and research the folks who would be reading your article as well as the ones who could likely link to it and ask them.
If you did that, they may say "You know Paulis, we really don't need another article on Rhassoul clay, there are already a bunch of them out there." Or, they may say, "You know Paulis, I've read everything out there and what I still don't know about Rhassoul clay is ........." Or, they may say, "If you researched and wrote an article about the ancient trade routes the clay was carried to culture outside Morocco, I would definitely link to that from my blog."
In either of those cases, It wouldn't really matter how long the article was, if it was well written and engaged the audience. One share or one link to an article of 50 words is worth more than an unshared or unlinked article of 5000 words. Words are cheap. Shares are what you're going for.

I would write just one article.
If you write 4 articles competing for the same keyword the link juice will by divided by four
I did the same mistake in the past and as a result google was not really sure which url should rank for that specific keyword
Hope this helps

Keyword: $ 100 discount coupon Product 2: $ 75 discount coupon

Have question about usage of similar keywords on single vs multiple pages within the same site...
I am working on a campaign with someone and have been talking back and forth about some keyword usage thoughts. More precisely multiple keywords that are similar and how to use them on the page for best results in ranking without diluting our own work to rank well. Example: Keywords:
Keyword Research | | allstatetransmission
Vehicle Wraps
Vehicle Wraps Phoenix
Phoenix Vehicle Wraps
Car Wraps
Car Wraps Phoenix
Phoenix Car Wraps One thought is that the keywords are so similar that it would best benefit us to target one page to the grouping of like keywords and long-tail keywords, and not making separate pages as to create competition for the same keyword within the site itself. Also that Google is "smart" enough to see that car wraps and vehicle wraps are like keywords, and that car wraps when linked to a site from Phoenix, will also pull as Car Wraps Phoenix. The other thought is we target one page for each separate keyword although the keywords are so similar. What are your thoughts? I wanted to ask all of your thoughts as I am sure your feedback will be enlightening. (Always helpful!!) Thank you!0 -
Google Keyword Research Tool - Monthly Totals for Similar Keywords?
Hi! I am doing some Google keyword research using the Google Adwords Keyword tool to decide what content to create for the masses. That is, to find opportunities to create content that is in-demand where the current offering is not satisfying the need effectively. Here are some keywords I picked out. I hope to produce a single piece of content optimized for some or all of these keywords. (See attached imgur link) The first thing I notice when doing this kind of work is that many similar-sounding keywords are showing the same sum of average monthly totals. This suggests to me that they may not actually be unique. For instance, the first two searches "guitar strings order" and "guitar string notes" each have ~5400 monthly searches. Does that mean 5400 each, or 5400 total between the two? So does anybody know if these are individual numbers or part of a bigger total? And if they are part of a bigger total, how could I estimate the average searches for a piece of content that targets all 8 keywords? If I tally all of the searches, I have over 23,000 potential searches per month. But if some of them are being counted more than once, so to speak, then the number could be much lower. ghmFYOZ

Does Google consider very similar keyphrases the same?
One of my top keyphrases is manchester magician and using Google Adwords Keyword Tool this produces exactly the same number of views as _magician manchester _and again the exact same for magician in manchester. So I assumed from this that Google views them the same. But looking at the SEOMoz On-Page tool, this doesn't appear to be the case as my grade is different for each keyphrase. So, I guess my question is, if this is the case and they are considered different, how would I find out which one really is the most searched for so I can optimize accordingly. Many thanks, Iain.

Google ranks better apps over articles
Hello, On my quest to recover from Goolge´s updates I found out that the serps show apps and software downloads ranking better than content (articles or similar) for one of my most popular keywords. When the ads above the fold update hit my site (I can only assume that because of the date) I lost about 50% of my traffic). This keyword dopped from the first or second position to a steady fifth or sixth page position. Today, I was trying to research which sites outranked me and to my surprise no result in the first 15 position was an article, just apps and software downloads. It is not that is wrong. Let´s say that we are talking about an area similar to instagram software (although it doesn´t rank in this keyword). I´m not asking about my site. I simply want to know if the web apps (social sites) and mobile apps are taking over the content in serps. Is it that now you can´t go for a high place in the rankings (for certain keywords) if you are not a social site or an app? Thanks!

Google SERPS for similar Keywords?
I have website which is being listed for a keyword which is not in the site. It seems that google is using a Thesaurus to find words with similar meaning. Is this right? How could this be used for SEO purposes?
