Q& A section - SEO perspective

We have a software in our website where customers can ask questions and it will send questions to people who already bought it to get answers. The answers are there in each item page. So each item page has item description , reviews, and Q&A sections. We get lot of questions and answers and software is great but we don't know if it really is helping us for the huge price we are paying them. In an SEO perspective will it help due to content or will it dilute main keywords due to the Q&A content?

The key question here, which Josh nailed with his response, isn't simply about SEO. It's about whether or not the audience finds the information useful. That's the best information for ordering your steps.
The more pages - deep, rich (valuable) content is part of the goal - the better, assuming your topics are varied enough to provide needed depth AND retain overall value on the topic.
But, back to the main issue: How is your brand benefitting from this information? It could be in innumerable ways to boost all of your online marketing efforts. For example, based on the questions being asked, you could discern which new products to create, which current products should be updated and which features are likely to be met with the highest approval.
I'd suggest gathering the team and brainstorming around the questions and answers being asked to develop (a) content ideas, (b) ways in which you could better serve existing customers and (c) how the brand could do a better job of attracting customers who might be interested about your products or services.

Hello RB,
In short, the technical SEO value of this product/service is relatively small. You are working with dynamic content which "should" be no-followed, meaning you won't be generating much link value from it. If you do not take this precaution, you risk having irrelevant spam on your site, especially if you are not moderating it. Even if you are, this process can become very time intensive as your user base increases.
On the flip side, your CRO and user interaction metrics may improve as a result of providing this to your users. Oleg is on the money when he says the conversion rate is likely to improve as a result of this kind of product on your website. It is all about implementation and how users interact with your site.
If they are inclined towards helping out their fellow community members and providing quality analysis and feedback, you are golden. If not, it may not be worth the price (especially if you are asking questions like this).
I would consider implementing A/B testing using some pages with this service and some pages without - ideally on pages that have similar metrics. Run this test for a few months (or as long as you think it will take to get decent analysis) and determine whether your conversion rates are better with or without the software. If they are better, consider how much better they are, and determine whether those increases in sales validate the need for the product.
At this point, it's all about conversions and ROI rather than technical SEO.

Could go both ways. If the questions are relevant and well written, it should improve your SEO (and more importantly, conversions). You can search for "ugc seo" to see many analysis and perspectives on the topic.
Is it worth the price? Depends on how much you are paying and the ROI you get from it. I could see this paying off on an ecommerce site.

SEO for Online Auto Parts Store
I'm currently doing an audit for an online auto parts store and am having a hard time wrapping my head around their duplicate content issue. The current set up is this: The catalogue starts with the user selecting their year of vehicle They then choose their brand (so each of the year pages have listed every single brand of car, creating duplicate content) They then choose their model of car and then the engine And then this takes them to a page listing every type/category of product they sell (so each and every model type/engine size has the exact same content!) This is amounting to literally thousands of pages being seen as duplicates It's a giant mess. Is using rel=canonical the best thing to do? I'm having a hard time seeing a logical way of structuring the site to avoid this issue. Anyone have any ideas?

Ecommerce On-Site SEO: Keywords in Category Descriptions
Hello, I'm doing on-site SEO for a client's ecommerce site. Are 160 words enough for a category description? I'm using the keywords once at the top of the description, and once at the bottom of the description, with the ones at the bottom reworded so that they are the keywords with a different word order. I used to put the keywords in 3 times but it just feels like stuffing. Is twice, worded differently the second time, enough for a category description? Thanks.

Two Word Company Name (Combined to One) & SEO
Hi All, I'm dealing with a company that has a two word name like "GreatCompany". They rank #1 for that but not for "Great Company". The phrase is not super competitive, but obviously they are not writing the company name with two words anywhere on their site. Has anyone had to deal with something like this? Thinking about creative solutions but I'm fairly sure we're going to need to use the name both ways to have an effect here (or use PPC to augment) but I don't really love the idea of doing that... will feel very odd and inconsistent for visitors. Modifying Well Established & Well Indexed Content
I have a page that is very well indexed and has a 1st position ranking in google. It is the best landing page in my site. That being said, it's several years old and I honestly think it could be better. The images could be enlarged, the the images could have fancy box enlargements instead of just linking out to flickr, there could be more content about follow up projects that people have done. I'm noteably nervous about changing such a clutch piece of content on my site. I do want to improve the content for users, not just make it more SEO friendly (it's already SEO'd), but I'm afraid that any change could cause a set back in ranking. Am I being afraid of nothing, should I just go for it and improve my content, or should I be extra cautious when editing well indexed content like this? Thanks for the advice

Another SEO's point of view
Hiya fellow SEO's I have been working on a site - www.hplmotors.co.uk and I must say it has become difficult due to flaws with the content management system . We are speaking with the web site makers to be able to add a unique title, description to all pages. Link Product Thumb & Product Name with same anchor link?
We have an issue on one of our sites we're monitoring a campaign for that seems to have TOO many links on each page. I think the biggest reason is that each product listing on each category page has two separate anchor links into that page. One for the thumb and one for the name. So even though there should only be 60-70 links on each category page, that amount is being inflated because each product listing technically is being split into two separate links. Question is, should I place the thumbnail and name within the same anchor link? We do this on a lot of other sites we operate, but I'm not sure what's a better strategy. It would seem to me that it would be better to have a single anchor link that shares the thumb and product name.
