Any Suggestions for Building an SEO Friendly Auto Dealership Website?
-
Does anyone have suggestions for re-designing an auto dealership website? Is it possible to build a WordPress website that accepts an inventory feed from VinSolutions? I've been building websites and provided SEO services for years. This is my first time working in the auto industry.
The issue I am facing is that our dealership currently have two websites. Both are built on 3rd party platforms and I am seriously considered rebuilding our website from scratch.
Our first website was been provided to us by our Hyundai and the website is managed through Cobalt. While I like that the website is directly affiliated with Hyundai, it's very difficult to manage and I have yet to be able to get the techs to grant me access to the FTP server or provide help with installing Google Analytics and Webmaster Tools.
The owner of our dealership never liked the Cobalt website so they decided to launch a second website that is created and managed by a company called Dealer Specialties. The site is also very difficult to administer and I only see problems later down the road.
Is anyone familiar with working with auto dealership websites? I would love to hear your comments on the best way to proceed with our new web presence.

We had exactly the same problem as this. We then quoted the client to rebuild from scratch - but the cost was inhibitive for them.
The thing about these 3rd party platforms is that they get the client hooked onto them and they get comfortable just paying a nominal fee each month.
This particular client would spend the money to re do the website from scratch.
The problem with their systems is that you cannot do too much customization of the pages in terms of the SEO attributes or change the page names etc,
I am certainly not endorsing or recommending this company - but we have had more success with www.ebizautos.com in terms of the issues I have just mentioned.
With their system you can change the page names etc and have the ability to create numerous pages with their own custom URLs that then can be as optimized as you want. URLs are ertainly better than the Dealer Specialties ones.
Not as good as building your own system - but the results we have had from optimizing some of these ebiz ones have been better than using some of the other systems out there. IT also helps if you have a client with serious budget constraints.
Downside:
Still cannot get FTP access or them to even upload an XML file for GWMT.Might be worth a go. Hope this helps.

The theme behind this real estate site is the city itself, which is quite clever and applicable to Manhattan. Our home page as well as other URLs use lots of text. If we reduce text and use more images to make the pages more engaging, will our organic ranking decline? If we reduce text can we compensate by fuller completion of meta tags? Any thoughts???0 -

Suggestions to Improve Worst Conversion Form Ever Designed?
My commercial real estate web site has about the worst conversion form ever designed (http://www.nyc-officespace-leader.com/visitor-details). The form appears whenever a visitor does a property search. If they do not release their phone number and email address they don't get results. The form only gets completed 25% of the time and often the contact details are wrong. The visitors either exit the site at that page or go to the listing or neighborhood pages to view listings without doing a filtered search. In an attempt to increase conversions we are softening the form and not making completion mandatory. After entering an inquiry the visitor will be shown three property listings before the form pops up, The idea being that once they have seen product they will be more inclined to release contact info. Also, the form will appear once they have viewed three listings anywhere on the site, not just for search results. Unlike the existing conversion form (http://www.nyc-officespace-leader.com/visitor-details) we are trying to keep the text very concise. The new form will be Java script rather than a URL. Can anyone offer some ideas on how to make the text of these new forms more enticing? The forms are listed below. We will probably show the first one after the visitor views 3 listings and the variation of it after the visitor views another 3 listings. ** FORM #1** Quit wasting time searching for listings. (watch icon) Call me to discuss available space. Yes No --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FORM #2 Don’t search for listings, we will do it for you. We have off market listings that no one knows about. Contact us now about off market listings. Complete website redesign - what to look for
We are having our website redesigned by an SEO company to increase CTR and for a better user experience and I was wondering what to look for and what key questions to ask. At the moment we rank very well for a few strong keywords and I m afraid that by rewriting the content and changing the website layout we might put at risk some of the rankings even for a brief period of time. This company seems to be very good so I need to know what to ask them to make sure everything goes according to plan. Your thoughts are appreciated.
