I'm moving my company to Australia, shutting down the US company.

Google said I had to request a new Adsense account, so I did.

They opened the account, I added the same ads, in the same places, and they have rejected my application. What do I do now?

The other account has been open since 2004. They never said a word about this before. After two years of working on improvements, now I'm just about destroyed.

I need some help, because I thought I knew what I was doing, but obviously not!

As usual. their helpful response is no help at all.

http://bit.ly/NPACk - there are no G ads on the front page

    http://bit.ly/V8ubB5  - this is a typical story

http://bit.ly/UpTC2r - this is a typical press release

As mentioned in our welcome email, we conduct a second review of
your AdSense application once AdSense code is placed on your
site(s). As a result of this review, we have disapproved your
    account for the following violation(s):

    Issues:
    - Site does not comply with Google policies

    ---------------------

    Further detail:
Site does not comply with Google policies: We're unable to approve
your AdSense application at this time for one of the reasons listed
below or another reason listed in our program policies
    ([https://support.google.com/adsense/bin/topic.py?topic=1271507](https://support.google.com/adsense/bin/topic.py?topic=1271507)).
We recommend that you review the information provided below and
make the necessary changes to your site.

1\. You need to improve your site’s user experience
To ensure a good experience for users and advertisers, publishers
participating in the AdSense program are required to adhere to the
    Webmaster Quality guidelines
    ([http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=35769](http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=35769)).
These guidelines provide many tips to help you to provide a positive
    experience for your users.

You’ll also find more useful information in this AdSense blog post
which highlights five user experience principles:
    [http://adsense.blogspot.com/2012/10/publisher-insights-part-1-5-principles.html](http://adsense.blogspot.com/2012/10/publisher-insights-part-1-5-principles.html).
Applying these principles will help you to provide a great
experience for users on your site.

2\. Your site is a chat site which is not compliant with our policy
Publishers are encouraged to experiment with a variety of
    ad placements and ad formats.
However, as stated in our program policies
    ([http://support.google.com/adsense/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=48182](http://support.google.com/adsense/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=48182)),
AdSense publishers may not place ad code, search boxes or search
results in chat programs. This includes, but is not limited to,
instant messaging (IMs), chat sites and other pages that contains
    dynamic content.

3\. You need to remove all content that encourages violation of
    Google product policies
Publishers may not provide the means to circumvent the policies of
any Google products, such as by allowing users to download YouTube
videos, or encourage the violation of Google AdSense policies.
Moreover, publishers may not make use of Google brand features
such as logos, screenshots, or other distinctive features without
our express permission. For more information, please visit our
    Help Center
    ([http://support.google.com/adsense/bin/answer.py?hl=en&ctx=as2&answer=1348688&rd=1](http://support.google.com/adsense/bin/answer.py?hl=en&ctx=as2&answer=1348688&rd=1)).

4\. Your site is dedicated to the sale and distribution of
    term papers
We’re happy to see our publishers’ sites full of useful and
informative content, however, as stated in our program policies
    ( [https://www.google.com/adsense/support/as/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=105953](https://www.google.com/adsense/support/as/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=105953) ),
the sale or distribution of term papers, or any other content that
is illegal, promotes illegal activity, or infringes on the legal
rights of others is not allowed.

Please review the AdSense program policies
    ([http://support.google.com/adsense/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=48182](http://support.google.com/adsense/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=48182))
to ensure that your site meets all of the requirements for approval.
As soon as you’ve made the necessary changes, we’ll be happy to
take another look at your application.

Are there any site quality expert around?

Someone with actual experience and not guesses?

This is important to me, I may only have a few days to get this right.

I switched back to the original account, so ads are showing now, but I need to fix and switch back.

The big problem is there is no way to tell what the google testers saw, that they didn't like, or what they thought they saw.

Google policy doesn't include external ads in the count of 3.

I have removed the leaderboard, in case that was the problem, but if that was the problem, why didn't they say anything about that leaderboard over the past 5 years, since the google adsense team advised using it?

Where did you see screaming bananas?

            Alan,

on the subject of Adsense i'm kind of an expert myself by testing everything there is to know.

            When you say:

"The press releases (for business readers) have the same two google ads, plus a leaderboard ad (I could remove that, but these were placements advised by google a few years ago)

They also have a single skyscraper ad below the fold and a Chitika ad under the story."

This is your violation if my count is correct:

2 Google ads + leaderboard ad + skyscraper + Chitika ad = 5 ads which is not allowed according to Google policy. I suggest limiting the total amount of ads to 3 on each page. If you use another ad program next to Adsense it still counts as 1. So if you place 2 Google ads and a Chitika ad then you should be fine.

I agree with you that there are a lot of knowledgeable people here. But my experience on this subject is that I found more help on webmasterworld and adsense forum then here. That's just my experience in the matter.

When I look at you site I must admit that I would go for a redesign with less ads and less screaming banana's. Look through you eyelashes and see what jumps out on a page. I would go for a page were less is more. That's just my opinion.

If i interpreted your explanation correctly about the ads then your ad count is too high and lowering that could solve your problem. If not let me know what you meant maybe there is another explanation.

            Regards

            Jarno

              Thanks Jarno.

This is an online newspaper, with 3 editors and 200+ writers/journalists and other contributors. We also have contracts with the major press release companies to process and display their press releases.

Obviously, it is not a chat site. It does not and never has encouraged anyone to click ads. It obviously doesn't sell anything illegal.

The stories have two google ads, one in the top left body and one skyscraper.

There is also one skyscraper ad below the fold.

The press releases (for business readers) have the same two google ads, plus a leaderboard ad (I could remove that, but these were placements advised by google a few years ago)

They also have a single skyscraper ad below the fold and a Chitika ad under the story.

I'm not going over to webmaster world - I'm a long-term member of SEOMoz for a reason - there are many highly knowledgeable people here. I just hope they haven't all gone on vacation this week

                Alan,

My best guess is that your websites violates their policy. I've had this happens once before without even knowing it (was showing ads next to a landmap and added the text above (click on one of the provinces for more posibilities -> resulted in a penalty for endorsing click trough rates). Every normal person would understand that the click would be at the map and not the ads but still it gotten me banned.

If Google truly suggests (as shown in their e-mail) you need to improve the site. If you're site is truly a chat site and that is not allowed then one way to go is open a new site for another purpose -> request a new adsense account on that website -> allowed -> open a channel for your old site and place ads. It's not the way it should go but it could work.

Have you tried webmasterworld about this? I found some help their on the subject of adsenses in the past.

Another great source is the Google Adsense forum for help.

Look for things around this subject:
the sale or distribution of term papers, or any other content that is illegal, promotes illegal activity, or infringes on the legal rights of others is not allowed.

Hope you can sort this out.

                Regards

                Jarno

p.s. happy holiday (for as far as possible)

How to 301 redirect, without access to .htaccess and to a new domain

There are few ways to do this and I would like to ask other Mozzers if they have found the best way. We have a site .co.uk and are moving it back to .com.  However we do not have any access to the site folders for .co.uk.  (We have to move it anyway as our provider is withdrawing their service). We have built our URL 301 redirect file and it is ready to go, but how to impliment it? We can repoint .co.uk to another site, and then redirect all traffic for each URL but this is quite messy, or just forget trying to 301 each page and just rediect the whole site.
the .com has more authority already, but we ready do not want to frustrate visitors who are using a link to reach a product, only to find they hit our homepage and not the product. Your thoughts would be very welcome or other ideas Bruce

Hello, I have read some SEOMOZ search results for this, but am still concerned that Google may see 4,500 Too Many Link warnings as a problem. This is caused primarily due to our header navigation, which is not intended to be keyword stuffing, but to provide all avenues for our breadth of content. site: crazymikesapps.com. Most answers seem to advise if there is no keyword stuffing at hand don't worry about it. Any help appreciated. thank you Mike

I use premise for landing pages. I have some extra domain names that are fantastic in my industry. I'm wondering if I should use those domains for these landing pages? The header, nav, footer, would be the same as my main site,  the body and content would be totally different. will google penalize me if I have the same header and footer on a landing page?
