Hi Chanel27,
Kudos to you for wanting to hire a designer with Local SEO savvy. I think this is a very important choice for local businesses as design firms that work mainly with virtual businesses will often not know how to properly organize and optimize a local business website.
I highly recommend that you visit the Trusted Providers list at GetListed.org. Visit the websites of the companies listed there, all of whom have recognized Local SEO expertise, and see which of them offer design. Some only do consulting or Local Search Marketing, but some also do design and would be good candidates for the project you describe. Once you've narrowed down your options to firms on that list who offer local business website design, you might like to have a chat with a few of them to see which ones really 'click' with you. Here's the link:
https://getlisted.org/static/resources/trustedproviders.html
I personally know many of the business owners on GetListed's Trusted Provider list and can say with certainty that you should be in good hands with anyone you choose from that list. Good question and good luck!

Is The HREF Link "Title" Tag Needed on Mobile Websites?
Hello To Those Who Are Wiser Than I, I am wondering if the href link "title" tag is needed, or serves any purpose, on mobile websites? Also, does it effect SEO in any way? I ask because generally the href link title tag provides more information to the user when they scroll their mouse over the link - but this action does not happen on mobile! Users have no mouse and thus no extra information would be displayed. I'm really wondering if it still matters for SEO purposes on mobile though. -The UnEnlightened

Designed by Backlink - Where to?
Now I know these links don't create much value. However, every web design company seems to do it. My question is this: If you use it, is it always good to go to the home page of your site, or is it best to redirect to sub pages. For example, if you made an e-commerce website and you link it back to your e-commerce portfolio or description page? Overall, is it still worth linking back from these? Should you only do it on a single page? Thank you in advance.

Site structure and blog tags for local with five locations
I have a client who has five locations. Their current web site was structured very well for the pre-penguin and Panda world. However it does not seem to do as well after these changes. I believe it would serve them both with their customers as well as on Google if they localized the site for each location. Currently all the content on the site if focused on one location that is in the largest metro. On the content side we have a plan to produce local content and blogs for each location. My questions are how to go about structuring the site map and blogs to provide the most local juice. I was also wondering how to properly mark up a site with a main trunk and five local branches. I am also trying to figure out how to structure the tags on the blog. On the site map itself I was planning on maintaining all the content as well as the older blogs in the main trunk of the web site. Under this trunk there is a locations page that currently goes to five pages that simply have an address as well as a bulletin board of upcoming events. The blog is directly off the main page with no tie to any location. Here are my thoughts on what I think we should do: I believe we should create a mini web site starting at the location page that has specific content and navigation related to each location. That the content should focus on the specifics of that area and what would serve that clientele the best. We should add to each branch location based on the key words and competition in that area. The blog off the main web site should continue to house the general categories that are already there as well as any other general posts. I think we should add a link to each store page with a location specific blog in each mini location site. Each mini location site should have it's own blog with specific blogs targeted towards the local market. This local blog would also feed in the general blogs from the "trunk" as they are posted. Relating back to my original questions: is what I outlined the right approach or is there a more effective way to do this? Is there any special mark up I should do to tell the directories what to do? How do I structure the tags for the blog? I was thinking of a structure like this: General blog/category/subject under the main structure : local blog/category/subject Any ideas of input on this? Ron

Switching over to wordpress
Hello fellow Mozers! I've searched to see if I find an answer, cant seem to find it. Is there a way to do a blanket 301 redirect? I am moving a site that has all pages end with .html extension over to wordpress. I was wondering if I could set up a rule that says redirect all pages with .html extension to a version of the page with no extension. I will keep the same url with the exception of the .html extension. http://www.website.com/page.html to http://www.website.com/page/

http://www.website.com/page-title.html to http://www.website.com/page-title/ Instead of doing a 301 redirect for about 250 pages, I was wondering if I can just do one rule that will handle all the redirects considering I am keeping the same page url without the .html extension. Thanks 🙂0 -
Anyone with Forums experience + adsense
An opportunity has been presented to me to be able to host a forum for a semi popular celebrity. Very excited about that 🙂 I have never had a very forum and would like to know what kinds of experienced has anyone had with a popular forum From what I hear if you can have a popular forum its pretty much a cash cow (adsense) especially if its reputable and is a great long term thing, because of returning visitors and the loyalty you establish with the users. Anyone in this boat who can shed some light for me? What should I expect? Best software/themes for this for user-ability as well as adsense?

Do you have an SEO 'plugin' recommendation for SharePoint 2007?
I'm not a programmer and our 200+ person company isn't going to change their CMS just because I asked them nicely. Do you know of any SEO plugin I can use on SharePoint 2007? I just don't want to have to keep going into each of 110 websites time after time.
