Why do I get India, Pakistan, Turkey traffic mostly?
-
Hi there,
I've been wondering. Why do I get most of the traffic from these countries?
My sites are english, I host in USA. I don't target a thing for those countries traffic, yet I get huge amounts of traffic from these countries.
Any ideas?

Could it be because I get referrer traffic like that at first?
-
I couldn't agree more with what Paulha stated. We get about 5 emails a day from India based SEO and web design companies. All of them are using Gmail accounts, so we can't create rules in our Outlook Exchange to pass those to the Deleted Items folder since our clients also use Gmail. It's a pain, but we see lots of traffic from those countries and Russia as well. Hackers and spammers. They aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

Check your referral traffic to see what sites the visits are coming from. It could be that you're listed on a load of directories in these countries. If so, contact the webmasters and request removal of your link.

You get traffic from India and Pakistan because most of web design and SEO companies are located in that part. These companies employ hundreds of IT guys and many of these companies keep browsing internet so that they could send Marketing emails for web development and seo services. Even if you website does not attract local users, people in South Asia do Google and find your site. I am sure you must be getting lot of web development or seo emails if you are running a business.

Hi, it's difficult to say without knowing anything about your site. Would you be able to share a link to it?
The other possible reason - and I am not saying this is the case - is if you have had any used any overseas backlinking service that could be based in these areas. Could that be the case?

Ecommerce replatforming and redirects - how much traffic will I lose?
Hey there,I'm looking to hear your experiences in regards to replatforming an ecommerce store and SEO impacts. My company is analyzing the impacts of switching from Magento Entreprise to Shopify Plus. Some background info : 900k sessions / month 52% of sessions coming from SEO Multilingual store : half of traffic is French, half is English 945 domains linking to us, according to search console Competitive industry (retail) Moving to Shopify would force us to do two things: Redirect all category pages, brand pages and product pages. Shopify forces a specific URL structure for these pages that is different from our current one. Redirect the English section of the site to a subdomain (https://en.example.com/...). Have multiple stores on Shopify can't be done on the same domain. I'm especially afraid of the impact of moving the English section to a subdomain. I feel it would lose most of the domain authority - most backlinks go to the website root so very few will be redirected to the subdomain.Even if we spend a lot of time doing redirections, do you think the traffic will significantly suffer? Do you have stats to share on a similar migration you would have done, or other insights? Thanks a lot!

How can I get Bing to index my subdomain correctly?
Hi guys, My website exists on a subdomain (i.e. https://website.subdomain.com) and is being indexed correctly on all search engines except Bing and Duck Duck Go, which list 'https://www.website.subdomain.com'. Unfortunately my subdomain isn't configured for www (the domain is out of my control), so searchers are seeing a server error when clicking on my homepage in the SERPs. I have verified the site successfully in Bing Webmaster Tools, but it still shows up incorrectly. Does anyone have any advice on how I could fix this issue? Thank you!

Organic search traffic improved (besides Google) for last 6 months
Hi, to follow up on my previous post (http://moz.com/community/q/low-on-google-ranking-despite-error-free), I was wandering if someone can tell me whether we are penalised by Google or not? Since the last 6 months, we see a rise in organic visitors coming from Bing, yahoo but Google remains the same. Despite the advice given in previous post, I just feel that something else must be wrong. Perhaps more inbound links with high PR? Socially, we are pretty much engaging 50-60% of our audience, yet no link flow will count for our organic ranking sadly enough... Hopefully someone can have a look at our site www.mercadonline.es in more detail? Ask me in a PM for more info! Thank you Ivordg

Drop in traffic after redesign
Is it common for a site to see slight traffic drops after a site redesign (containing cleaner code, more usability and basically just being more helpful for the end user)? A new site of ours went live last Wednesday and has experienced a drop in traffic. If you have seen this in your own site, how did you recover? And how long did the recovery take?

I get warnings for overly dynamic urls, but have canonical links in place.
Hi, Seomoz gives me warnings for overly dynamic urls. This is mostly caused by a crumbtrail system. I have a canonical link in the header for all the urls I receive warnings on, should I still worry about this? Thanks!

Our quilting site was hit by Panda/Penguin...should we start a second "traffic" site?
I built a website for my wife who is a quilter called LearnHowToMakeQuilts.com. However, it has been hit by Panda or Penguin (I’m not quite sure) and am scared to tell her to go ahead and keep building the site up. She really wants to post on her blog on Learnhowtomakequilts.com, but I’m afraid it will be in vain for Google’s search engine. Yahoo and Bing still rank well. I don’t want her to produce good content that will never rank well if the whole site is penalized in some way. I’ve overly optimized in linking strongly to the keywords “how to make a quilt” for our main keyword, mainly to the home page and I think that is one of the main reasons we are incurring some kind of penalty. First main question: From looking at the attached Google Analytics image, does anyone know if it was Panda or Penguin that we were “hit” by? And, what can be done about it? (We originally wanted to build a nice content website, but were lured in by a get rich quick personality to rather make a “squeeze page” for the Home page and force all your people through that page to get to the really good content. Thus, our avenge time on site per person is terrible and Pages per Visit is low at: 1.2. We really want to try to improve it some day. She has a local business website, Customcarequilts.com that did not get hit. Second question: Should we start a second site rather than invest the time in trying to repair the damage from my bad link building and article marketing? We do need to keep the site up and running because it has her online quilting course for beginner quilters to learn how to quilt their first quilt. We host the videos through Amazon S3 and were selling at least one course every other day. But now that the Google drop has hit, we are lucky to sell one quilting course per month. So, if we start a second site we can use that to build as a big content site that we can use to introduce people to learnhowtomakequilts.com that has Martha’s quilting course. So, should we go ahead and start a new fresh site rather than to repair the damage done by my bad over optimizing? (We’ve already picked out a great website name that would work really well with her personal facebook page.) Or, here’s a second option, which is to use her local business website: customcarequilts.com. She created it in 2003 and has had it ever since. It is only PR 1. Would this be an option? Anyway I’m looking for guidance on whether we should pursue repairing the damage and whether we should start a second fresh site or use an existing site to create new content (for getting new quilters to eventually purchase her course). Easy way to get some do-follow links for a new site
I am launching a new website and when I search for "list of do-follow websites" I find lots of people posting their list. Rather than individually sign up for hundreds of sites for one link at a time, is there a tool that can automate this?
