Distilled U or Market Motive? Need recommendations for self-paced, advanced SEO training courses.
-
I'd like to get some recommendations on self-paced SEO courses. They need to be online, and they need to be rather advanced.
Moz has perks for both Distilled U and Market Motive. Has anyone gone through these? What are the differences in format, content, etc.?

Our company (Market Campus) launched in the summer of 2014 and our students have had amazing success. From students who knew very little about digital marketing and wanted to start a career to companies sending their employees to be re-trained. We've been getting so much demand to launch an online solution we are getting ready to launch our first ever online course. You can check out our pricing options by clicking here.
The issue we found with many of the popular online courses out there is there is zero direction. They are pricey subscriptions packed with content and no path for the user. Our course was designed specifically with a path that we've designed to take you to beginner to pro. The reviews and feedback we've received has been awesome.
It really is an amazing program and takes an entirely new (and much more effective) approach to teaching digital marketing. If you have any questions shoot us an email at info@marketcampus.com

Hey Justin,
I went through Market Motive and I Loved it. I had what I though a decent understanding of SEO but my knoledge now in comparison is next level.
Content is great! They really explain everything well in all their video modules. The quick quiz's are nice to make sure I'v learnt the key concepts. In my opinion their content is very to date consider the ever changing world of SEO. You'll find a few inconsistencies VS. new best practice but for the most part it's very accurate.
I can't speak for distilled but it's a huge plus to have OMCP certification after passing the final test. Great thing to use for clients and email signatures.
I just got my first Audit + Ongoing client and I couldn't have done it without their training.
Hope that helps!

Hey Justin,
I've done the complete DistilledU training. It's advanced in sections and at times, very basic. It's pretty much covers everything tho. It's very much learn at your own pace, as is MarketMotive and I have all my strategists or consultants work through Distilled and Moz as part of the their training for in house work. I don't know anyone who has done the Market Motive courses, but I can tell you after spending a little more time on it today, that I will be going through and possibly ordering it. We are also HubSpot certified as an agency so many of these certifications would benefit that tie we have with their products.
My guess, the advanced training you would be looking for - would be MarketMotive.com as I am looking at it myself for our agency and our teams! That's my 2 cents I plan on getting budgets set aside and getting it all lined up. I'm sold and going to move it into the pipeline.

I had a look at Distilled U and while it caters for all levels, there is a fair bit of advanced content. I was under the impression that there was a free trial for this, but could be wrong.
i can only speak for this, but I found it well paced with good examples and explanations.

New Subdomain SEO questions
I have a main site - mysite.com. I just created a subdomain - leadform.mysite.com I plan to use the leadform.mysite.com as a 1 page lead form only. I will link to leadform.mysite.com from mysite.com and also from other websites I own (myothersite.com etc.) - filtering all traffic to this form to capture leads. (Note - the leadform.mysite.com has CNAME to other server that hosts the backend of the form) My questions are: How should I link from mysite.com to leadform.mysite.com? With dofollow or nofollow? (mysite.com has 1000's of pages and would link from every page with "get a quote' type button) 2) How should I link from myothersite.com to leadform.mysite.com? With dofollow or nofollow? Any SEO risk linking to leadform.mysite.com from an outside domain? (myothersite.com has 1000's of pages and would link from every page with "get a quote' type button) Does it make sense to build links from outside sites to leadform.mysite.com directly to try to get that lead capture page to rank on it's own? 4) Does it make sense to link back from leadform.mysite.com back to mysite.com for seo value? With dofollow or nofollow? Thanks in advance for any help.

Dealing with negative SEO
Interested to know people strategies for detecting and mitigating negative SEO. Previously I've used link monitoring tool and kept an eye on all new back links coming in to any page on the site. I have then manually assessed each one again using some tools and actually visiting the website. However, this always leaves me with one dilemma. Regardless of my assessment how do search engines see that link? I run three lists a white list, grey list and blacklist. White list - very relevant and have a lot of authority. I.e. leading industry blogs and forums. Grey list - out of topic/industry, directories Blacklist - sites de-indexed by Google, illegal content or absolute spam (i.e. one page filled with hundreds of links to different domains) Do you have any thoughts? How do you assess if link is bad?

Mobile SEO vs. normal SEO?
Hi everyone, I wanted to ask you abour your opinon on mobile SEO. Do we already have two different Indices, one for mobile, one for desktop? Except a few mobile listings I don't see a difference yet. If yes, do I need to do special mobile SEO for my site or is it enough to have e.g. a responsive webdesign which detects the device and shows a different page? Are there any other extra Mobile SEO measures that should be considered? I know of the Mobile Sitemap and directories but is there anything else? Best regards
