Hi i am a real newbie to this and i hope for a guide on how to do this. I seen a few moz post and is quiet confusing hopefully somebody able to explain it in layman terms to me.

I would like to  301 redirect this way, both website contain the same niche.

      oldwebsite.com > newwebsite.com

      and also its pages.....

      oldwebsite.com/test >newwebsite.com/test

So my question here is i would like to host my old domain and its pages in my new website hosting in order to redirect to my new domain and its pages

how do i do that? would my previous page link overwrite my new page link? or it add on the juice link?

Do i need to host the whole old domain website into my new hosting in order to redirect the old pages?

      really confusing here, thanks!

Yes. you should move your contents to your new host and redirect your old domain to new one.

by parking the domain in the new hosting, all my previous pages will be gone right? unless i move everything from the old server to the new one? so i can redirect those pages to my new one too

Yes. Simply park your domain on your new hosting and redirect it using this code.

do we need to keep this redirect permanently? for example to keep the hosting on in order for it to redirect it to my new site.

yes; all of your old links move to new domain without hurting your SEO. Its a permanent redirection called 301.

                    by using this code

                    Options +FollowSymlinks
                    RewriteEngine On
                    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^olddomain.com [NC]
                    RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://newdomain.com/$1 [L,R=301]

how would it affect my seo? would it merge from the old link to the new link?

                      Hi

its better to ask instead of not asking 🙂

First, you should host your old domain on your new site and use this htaccess code to redirect 301 all your urls to new domain(don't forget to change newdomain.com and yourdomain.com with your new and old site):

                      Options +FollowSymlinks
                      RewriteEngine On
                      RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^olddomain.com [NC]
                      RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://newdomain.com/$1 [L,R=301]

                      RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.olddomain.com [NC]
                      RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://newdomain.com/$1 [L,R=301]

then you should submit a request in webmaster tools > change of address part to move your site authority completely.

Is this campaign of spammy links to non-existent pages damaging my site?

My site is built in Wordpress. Somebody has built spammy pharma links to hundreds of non-existent pages. I don't know whether this was inspired by malice or an attempt to inject spammy content. Many of the non-existent pages have the suffix .pptx. These now all return 403s. Example: https://www.101holidays.co.uk/tazalis-10mg.pptx A smaller number of spammy links point to regular non-existent URLs (not ending in .pptx). These are given 302s by Wordpress to my homepage. I've disavowed all domains linking to these URLs. I have not had a manual action or seen a dramatic fall in Google rankings or traffic. The campaign of spammy links appears to be historical and not ongoing. Questions: 1. Do you think these links could be damaging search performance? If so, what can be done? Disavowing each linking domain would be a huge task. 2. Is 403 the best response? Would 404 be better? 3. Any other thoughts or suggestions? Thank you for taking the time to read and consider this question. Mark

Should I submit a sitemap for a site with dynamic pages?

                        I have a coupon website (http://couponeasy.com)
Being a coupon website, my content is always keeps changing (as new coupons are added and expired deals are removed) automatically. I wish to create a sitemap but I realised that there is not much point in creating a sitemap for all pages as they will be removed sooner or later and/or are canonical. I have about 8-9 pages which are static and hence I can include them in sitemap. Now the question is.... If I create the sitemap for these 9 pages and submit it to google webmaster, will the google crawlers stop indexing other pages? NOTE: I need to create the sitemap for getting expanded sitelinks. http://couponeasy.com/

Internal Links to Ecommerce Category Pages

Hello, I read a while back, and I can't find it now, that you want to add internal links to your main category pages. Does that still apply? If so, for a small site (100 products) what is recommended? Thanks

Pages linked with Spam been 301 redirected to 404\. Is it ok

Pl suggest, some pages having some spam links pointed to those pages are been redirected to 404 error page (through 301 redirect) - as removing them manually was not possible due to part of core component of cms and many other coding issue, the only way as advised by developer was making 301 redirect to 404 page. Does by redirecting these pages to 404 page using 301 redirect, will nullify all negative or spam links pointing to them and eventually will remove the resulting spam impact on the site too. Many Thanks

Starting every page title with the keyword

I've read everywhere that it's vital to get your target keyword to the front of the title that you're writing up. Taking into account that Google likes things looking natural I wanted to check if my writing title's like this for example: "Photographers Miami- Find the right Equipment and Accessories" ..Repeated for every page (maybe a page on photography in miami, one on videography in Orlando etc) is a smart way to write titles or if by clearly stacking keywords at the front of every title won't be as beneficial as other ways of doing it?

Closing down site and redirecting its traffic to another

OK - so we currently own two websites that are in the same industry. Site A is our main site which hosts real estate listings and rentals in Canada and the US. Site B hosts rentals in Canada only. We are shutting down site B to concentrate solely on Site A, and will be looking to redirect all traffic from Site B to Site A, ie. user lands on Toronto Rentals page on Site B, we're looking to forward them off to Toronto Rentals page on Site A, and so on.  Site A has all the same locations and property types as Site B. On to the question: We are trying to figure out the best method of doing this that will appease both users and the Google machine.  Here's what we've come up with (2 options): When user hits Site B via Google/bookmark/whatever, do we: 1. Automatically/instantly (301) redirect them to the applicable page on Site A? 2. Present them with a splash page of sorts ("This page has been moved to Site A.  Please click the following link <insert anchor="" text="" rich="" url="" here="">to visit the new page.").</insert> We're worried that option #1 might confuse some users and are not sure how crawlers might react to thousands of instant redirects like that. Option #2 would be most beneficial to the end-user (we're thinking) as they're being notified, on page, of what's going on.  Crawlers would still be able to follow the URL that is presented within the splash write-up. Thoughts?  We've never done this before.  It's basically like one site acquiring another site; however, in this case, we already owned both sites.  We just don't have time to take care of Site B any longer due to the massive growth of Site A. Thanks for any/all help. Marc

Penalised by Google - Should I Redirect to a new domain?

Last month my rankings dropped a couple of pages on Google and am no longer receiving as many visits from Google as I used to. It's coming up to summer which is the time my business naturally picks up yet I can't fix this problem. I have a crazy idea of redirecting my established site onto a new domain in hopes that the penalty would be removed. I have tried removing any manipulative links yet my ranking are not coming back. Anyone had success in redirecting to a new domain?

Separate domain name for a subdomain?

I just created a subdomain to help our main TLD website. I was wondering if it's smart to create a separate TLD for this subdomain and set up a forward and build links to it. Reason I was thinking about it because it would be easier for people to remember instead of typing in subdomain.maindomain.com. But, I don't want the main website to suffer, since the purpose of creating this subdomain and it's content is to help the main domain. Any inputs on this? Thank you.
