Guru Needed

Hello,
We are interested in finding someone experienced in SEO, who is willing to take a look at my work that I am doing for my employer, on an ongoing basis. This would help me ensure that I am on the right track and we are doing the right thing.
Even tough I have some knowledge with SEO, I am still novice in the field. I also have background in marketing and management. I believe by having someone to mentor, would help me to grow professionally, as I feel very passionate about SEO, but to also deliver good work to my employer.
I believe someone's experience, reviews and suggestions about our campaigns can help, and I would not expect someone to give out their time freely. Therefore, if required we could talk about a financial agreement.
Thank you for your time, and looking for your replies.

Monica, you should see if EGOL will be your guy! I believe it states in his Moz bio that he LOVES that type of work.
Juuuuust kidding!!! But seriously, he made some great points!! Best of luck

ABSOLUTELY great Egol advice here.....especially on the 'variance' you'd find by filtering thru common counsel for the 'style' that you like for you and yours....
Read...learn...test...then rank...and repeat!

Ask LOTS of questions here.
Pay close attention to who gives good and generous answers.
You will see that different people have different answers and different styles. Different answers does not mean that one is wrong but a lot of the answers that you receive will not be "best answers" in general or not be the "best answer" for you. Still, different answers are informative.
Seeing a diversity is important.
After you have asked LOTS of questions you might realize that someone has a style that you like and gives answers that you believe are valuable - and get lots of thumbs-up from members. That is when I would select a person for paid consultations.
All of the people who I have paid for consultations have first demonstrated to me in forums that they know their stuff and have respect of their peers. After this type of screening of consultants I have not been disappointed. However, if I would have hired people without this screening I would have been disappointed many times. Why? Much of the free advice given on forums is bad advice or not good advice for you.
Read the profile of anyone who you consider hiring. Some are available for clients. Some are not. Go to their website if they list one and look at it critically. You can get fantastic assistance from many of the members here, but be careful to be sure that you get the right person for you.
Good luck.

Hi Monica,
Don't forget you can always ask on here and it wont cost a penny, if however you don't want to share all the secret shenanigans you can also PM people if you wanted advice, best to ask first though! I've seen your site before where you've posted problems etc. so hopefully it can still work for you and the bonus is you get even more experts to help!
All the best.

Hey Monica
Great decision!! A "professional" second set of eyes is always the best approach regarding online marketing. I would suggest that you go through the Moz Recommended companies and call around to find the best fit.
Also (if you haven't already) check out this WBF about the topic. Hope this helps you find the right fit!
Cheers!

Too many SEO changes needed on a page. Create a new page?
I've been doing some research on a keyword with Page Optimization. I'm finding there's a lot of changes suggested. I'm wondering that because of the amount of changes required is it better to create a new page entirely from scratch that has all the suggestions implemented OR change the current page? Thanks, Chris

Need to change 1 million page URLs
Hey all, I have a community site where users are uploading photos and videos. Launched in 2003, back then it wasn't such a bad idea to use keywords/tags in the URLs, so I did that. All my content pages (individual photo/video) are looking like this: www.domain.com/12345-kw1-kw2-kw3-k4-k5 and so on. Where the 12345 is the unique content ID and the rest are keywords/tags added by the uploader. I would like to get rid of of the keywords after the ID in the URL. My site is well coded, so this can be easily done by changing a simple function, so my content page URLs become this: www.domain.com/ID What is the best course of action? 301 the KW URLs to non-KW version? Canonical? I really want to do this the proper way. Any advice is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Leverage Browser Caching: Do I need Last-Modified?
Per Page Speed recommendations I specified the Expires header in my .htaccess file. Do I need to add code for Last-Modified too? I thought I read somewhere that it will put the date next to the meta description in the SERPS, which might cause the result to seem outdated after a while. Are there any problems that could crop up if these aren't implemented correctly.

Hierachy in a Title Tag Needed?
When coding the title tags of a website, is it important to note the hierarchy of the website so the search engine can find that page? So, for example, the title tag would be, for a subcategory: Webpage Subcategory>Category>Website name Does this help the search engine rankings at all? Or can the search engines figure out the hierarchy by reading a sitemap or the HTML readable navigation? Then you could focus on the descriptive keywords of the subcategory page for the title tag. Also, should you always include the site name in the title tag?

Need a trained eye to help with a quick search to see if there’s a poison pill buried somewhere on my site!
Need a trained eye to help with a quick search to see if there’s a poison pill buried somewhere on my site! This is an e-commerce site that I’ve worked on and ran for 5 years which ranks from middle to top in just about all of the quality analytic scores when compared to top 10 competitors in Google, yet this site can hardly stay on the 3rd page let alone the 1st. Only weakness in metrics that I see is that I need more linking root domains and traffic. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Lowell

Need advice on local search optimization
HI all, I've found myself in a puzzling position and not quite sure which direction to push my current SEO project so if anyone who's done this particular type of SEO can offer some suggestions I'd be eternaly grateful. I am currently working on a project for a Law Firm based in New Jersey. Lets say the town they are in is Garfield. What I really want to try and achieve is see them appearing in the number one spot whenever anyone within Garfield or the immediate area searches for a lawyer relating to the individuals need. E..g searches like "personal injury lawyers", "real estate lawyer". The problem is I can see how I can easily make it to the number one position if people are specific and enter garfield in the search term but in reality they wouldn't be doing that. An additional problem is that peoples ISP's in garfield aren't located in Garfield, in some cases they're as far away as Newark so when they're doing a search for 'real estate lawyer' google is bringing up results for the Newark based firms. It seems using tools like market samurai to look at the traffic and competition is proving useless as searches like the ones I'm doing for local business are so closely tied to the ISP location I don't really know whether to target broad range searches like "Real Estate Lawyer", or to be really specific and include the town name in my page titles, H1 tags etc... I hope I put across my dilemma and someone can help me chose which direction to go in.. Thanks
