Can you have an SSL cert but still have http?
-
I was under the impression that if you got an SSL cert for your site that the site would change to https. I ran this site: http://thekinigroup.com/ through an SSL checker and it said it had one...but it's http.
1. Why didn't it change to https? Is there an extra step there that needs to be done?
2. Is there a reason someone would choose to get an SSL cert, but not have https?
Thanks,
Ruben

Absolutely! Yeah I'm just not sold on...
A) The amount of work it would take to transition each site
B) The risk of something going wrong
C) The actual ranking benefit/advantage it would actually produce
D) The value of it for our users
And for that reason... I'm out! lol

Oh yeah, I have seen that before. Okay, that make sense. Thanks so much!

Hi Bryan,
It seems like a lot of knowledgeable people are not jumping on the SSL bandwagon just yet, so you're in good company. I appreciate the help.
Thanks,

Hey Ruben!
We have several eCommerce sites that only have the SSL on pages that "need" to be secured like the checkout pages, etc. I am not totally buying into all the SEO value of the HTTPS just yet. And honestly doubt I ever will.
IMHO I don't feel that all pages of a site "NEED" to be secured. To me it just doesn't make sense and we have plenty of sites that are ranking #1 for competitive terms that only use the SSL on checkout. Hope this helps!!!

They could have the SSL for transactions. It was very common a few years ago (and many sites still do this) to have a site be http: and then once you start into their transaction funnel (such as a purchase) to switch over to https:

How can I stop google indexing an image
I have put a map of cornwall on my site on the Corwnall Page, and for some reason Google.de has picked it up and shows it up in the top 4 images for a search for cornwall? The result is I am getting about 80% of the traffic coming to my site for the search Cornwall (I get about 50 unique visits per day, over 40 a day are landing on the Cornwall page. Is this a problem for my normal SEO as a Close up Magician? Will google start to think my site is about Cornwall? Should I noindex the image (I say that like I know how! - How do I noindex that image? ) Or is any traffic to a site good traffic, I imagine they will be clicking on the link landing on the page and then leaving, which I suspect is not good for google reputation. Any thoughts anyone Thanks Roger http://www.rogerlapin.co.uk Where they land http://www.google.de/imgres?imgurl=http://www.rogerlapin.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/map-of-cornwall.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.rogerlapin.co.uk/magician-cornwall-magicians-hire-cornwall&h=904&w=1000&sz=167&tbnid=9GFlDv3BTz4ikM:&tbnh=99&tbnw=110&zoom=1&usg=__-b4bUYWREU_wAy2M04LrsrkzZpw=&docid=AUFmzso0arbGDM&sa=X&ei=HLZ2UpGYDMrY0QWXp4D4Dg&ved=0CEgQ9QEwAw&dur=2958

Can dynamically translated pages hurt a site?
Hi all...looking for some insight pls...i have a site we have worked very hard on to get ranked well and it is doing well in search. The site has about 1000 pages and climbing and has about 50 of those pages in translated pages and are static pages with unique urls. I have had no problems here with duplicate content and that sort of thing and all pages were manually translated so no translation issues. We have been looking at software that can dynamically translate the complete site into a handfull of languages...lets say about 5. My problem here is these pages get produced dynamically and i have concerns that google will take issue with this aswell as the huge sudden influx of new urls....as now we could be looking at and increase of 5000 new urls. (which usually triggers an alarm) My feeling is that it could be risking the stability of the site that we have worked so hard for and maybe just stick with the already translated static pages. I am sure the process could be fine but fear a manual inspection and a slap on the wrist for having dynamically created content?? and also just risk a review trigger period. These days it is hard to know what could get you in "trouble" and my gut says keep it simple and as is and dont shake it up?? Am i being overly concerned? Would love to here from others who have tried similar changes and also those who have not due to similar "fear" thanks

What are the 5 most important things that a novice blogger can do to improve Moz Rank
I have been blogging for sometime now.Around 50 days to be specific. The best part is in these 50 days is I have been able to Monitor and improve my Alexa rank for above 19 million to below 400 thousand now and its still improving.More so,my country rank has improved quite drastically, its now among the first 20 thousand websites in India. However,I have noticed these things in particular - 1.Mozrank has been constant at 1.5, all this while. 2.The Root domain authority improved by just 1 point to 96,as I am using blogger platform. 3.The mozTrust has been 0 all this while too. I don't understand how to tackle these issues. As I am already featured in couple of websites among the top ranked blogs from India.I have kept my eye on the moz Rank now for quite sometime. Hence this obvious question. In my situation what are the 5 most important things a blogger can do to improve the ranking. I am targeting the bracket of 2-3 for the coming month ranking. Thank you beforehand. Much Regards Amit Ganguly Promote Green .. Promote Sustainability ..
