Different country, same language

I have read the blog posts by Rand and other community members at YouMoz but i still have a question on trageting and domains / sub-directories usage.
Suppose, my business is located in France but my prospects are in US and UK as well. The issue is, they are not English speakers but French.
- If i use ccTLD, i don't think it will rank well in US and UK.
- gTLD will not be a good option for prospects in France.
What should i do?

Once you do this its worth looking into Google's new HREFLANG tag which they announced in December 2011.
Its worth reading this example as John Doherty has done some testing (even though I can't see it in his source code).
You'll still want a non county specific domain such as .com as Mozo suggested.
I'll be implementing HREFLANG into my sites this year, it'll be interesting to see the results.

I would get a non country specific TLD like site.com and assign it to the USA.
This way you can even have your entire site in French and receive all French queries in the USA.
How to: Go to Google Webmaster Tools > Site Configuration > Settings > Geographic target, and click "Target users in" and select "United States.

Have you considered using an IP GEO redirection script? Using a redirection 301 for custom users does not hurt your site's SEO according to Google. This is what i use for specific niche products and my SEO is strong as ever. At least for the past 8 months anyway.

I haven't actually used that approach myself at any point, having always favoured individual domains. However, if you go down the route of a ccTLD for France and sub domain for the UK and US, then all that is going to happen is that the two sub domains will share page rank, rather than if you were doing all three.

Agree but it's difficult for a sub-domain to compete with a main domain self as well as competitor. Wikipedia brings in lot of trust and authority that businesses rarely possess. Having said that, if i use ccTLD for France and sub-domain for US and UK, will that work for me? Will i be able to get rankins provided i spend optimum SEO resources on it?

So to confirm, you might want to target French speakers in the UK and US as well as France?

"_Option B, of course, being subdomains. You can see Wikipedia doing this. They have en.wikipedia.org, de.wikipedia.org. You use that subdomain to segment the language and country targeting. The problem with subdomains, at least as I see it, is that sometimes, not all the time, but sometimes the subdomains don't inherit all the domain authority, trust, value that you might get from separate subdomains or from all of the content being on a single root domain. So, de.RogerMozbot.com, maybe that will be interpreted the same way that www.RogerMozbot.com or fr.rogermozbot, or ca.rogermozbot, but it might not. That can be a frustrating experience as well. _
Option C is probably the best way to do the domain authority collapse. We'll talk through some of the weaknesses here, too. But this is essentially saying, you know what, everything is going to be on RogerMozbot.com/DE. You can see some sites, Microsoft owns a wide variety of sites that do precisely this. They've got like an EN-US and an EN-UK, saying essentially that is our English language site targeting the UK and they do it all in subfolders, so the Microsoft.com domain is getting all of the domain authority assigned to it and hopefully that is passing through to these subfolders. In most cases, it is going to."

Is this approach of returning different content depending on IP beneficial for international SEO?
I've decided to use sub folders for my site, and from everything I've read online it seems I shouldn't change the page content depending on IP, yet I know of a successful well funded site that hires full time SEO staff that does just that, and I'm wondering whether they know something I don’t which is helping their SEO. From everything I've read online this is the format I think I should use: mysite.com/us/red-wigs mysite.com/gb/red-wigs mysite.com/red-wigs does not exist This is the format the other site is using: othersite.com/red-wigs (from US IP address) othersite.com/red-wigs (from UK IP address) othersite.com/gb/red-wigs The content on othersite.com/red-wigs is identical to othersite.com/gb/red-wigs when loading from a UK IP address, and a lot of URLs without /gb/ are being returned when searching google. The benefit I can think of that they are gaining is US pages which are being returned for UK based searches will return the correct content. Are their any other gains to this approach? I'm concerned that if I use this approach for different languages then the radically differing content of othersite.com/red-wigs depending on the location of the crawler might confuse google - also generally changing content depending on IP seems to be recommended against. I'm using static Schema for each language subfolder in my website, Should i use the same "URL, description" for every language? or i have to use the URL and description according to the language? Any practical examples of ranking 1 domain in multiple countries?
Hi, I've done a fair amount of research on international SEO including here on MOZ but was hoping some fellow Mozzers might have some practical examples of how they have got 1 domain to rank in multiple countries, ideally US & UK. Im possibly looking at getting a high authority domain which ranks great on US into the UK engines. I want to keep to the 1 domain to benefit from the high authority and for logistical reasons. How long does it take for google to realize there is a new language sub domain?
I have a global client who just launched new sub domains of their site in new languages (Spanish, Portuguese, Russian and Japanese). Example: es.client.com pt.client.com ru.amdocs.com ja.amdocs.com How long does it take for Google to recognize these new subdomains? Would submitting an XML sitemap be helpful? If so how long can we see them pick up the site? What is the best way to check that your new subdomains are showing in each countries SERPs? Thanks for your help!

Differents TLDs and same contents not a problem Matt Cutts says?
Matt Cutts says on this video that you can have the same content on different TLDs and there is no duplicate content for Google. Have someone try this experience? For example : same content on "mysite.fr" and "mysite.be". And for the visitors from Belgium, will they see into the SERPs "mysite.be" and for the visitors from France "mysite.fr"? What countries does Google crawl from? Is it only US or do they crawl from Europe and Asia, etc.?
Where does Google crawl the web from? Is it in the US only, or do they do it from a European base too? The reason for asking is for GeoIP redirection. For example, if a website is using GeoIP redirection to redirect all US traffic to a .com site and all EU traffic to a .co.uk site, will Google ever see the .co.uk site?

One global blog or a blog for each country?
We have a blog on each of our country sites, but the content on the English speaking sites is shared i.e. locally produced in US is mixed up with stuff produced in UK and vice versa. I'm not concerned about duplicate content because we have taken the necessary measures to let the search engines know that we have a US site for the US and and UK site for the UK. My question to you is whether we should develop the blog independently in each country or develop one blog to satisfy our global sites. I believe a local blog for each country is better because the content would speak to the audience better and any reference points or product and price points would be 100% relevant to the audience.
