GTM Migration from Old to New Verison as Old Version closing on 1st April
-
Hi Guys,
Can you please tell me is it a correct configuration for tracking thank you page?
In Old Version of Tag Manager -
GA conversion Tracking, tag type - universal analytic, web property id - UA-12345678-9
track type - transaction, Firing rule -{{url}} contains ordersuccessful.aspx, {{event}} equals gtm.domIn New Version of Tag Manager -
Choose Product - Google Analytic, choose tag type - universal analytic, configure tag - tracking id - UA-12345678-9, track type - transaction, Fire on -Name - order successful page, type - custom event, Filter- Page url contains ordersuccessful.aspx, event equals gtm.dom
-
If i remove event equals gtm.dom will tag fire and transaction details will reflect in google analytic?
-
I am doing Manually configuration in new version of GTM as i have only few tags so just want to know if all tags successfully configured & I placed new GTM code on my website then google analytic will start reflecting data at same moment right, it will not take 24 hours right?
Thanks!

Oh! half answer I got from my own side
Above configuration works in old version of gtm but tag not fire on new version of gtm.
But when i select some page and configure as Page URL Contains OrderSuccessful.aspx
Then tag fire and started refelecting in google analytic.
-
So is it okay in new version of tag manager i am selecting custom event, and then i am configuring - Filter- Page url contains ordersuccessful.aspx, event equals gtm.dom ?

Relationship Between Cross-Domain Canonical Versions and Backlinks
Hi All, I am looking for some community insight on how backlinks on the different versions of a canonical page are handled for ranking purposes. Suppose that I have two versions of the same page on two different domains: 1. https://www.mysite.com/tshirts <--Canonical Version 2. https://www.mywebsite.com/tshirts <--Non-Canonical Version that points to page #1 Also consider a third domain that is being linked to from the article. Since it is identical content, both pages contain the same outbound links to this page: 3. https://www.myclothing.com I am wondering how the backlink authority transfer is handled for page number two. Since it has the canonical tag pointing to page 1, only page 1 should be considered for indexing/ranking purposes as a whole page. However, my question relates to what happens to backlink flow since both #1 and #2 above contain links to site #3. In the above example, would both mysite.com and mywebsite.com be passing a backlink to myclothing .com, or would it only be the first domain (www.mysite.com) passing link authority since it is marked as the canonical for ranking purposes. Thanks for any thoughts!

The client wants to close the current e-commerce website and open a new one.
The client wants to close the current e-commerce website and open a new one on a completely different engine without losing income. I have no idea how to approach this topic. Old site has over 100 000 pages, and in terms of SEO is quite great - we hit almost every important keyword in our niche but thanks to heavy modifications of source code site become unmaintainable. Content on new shop will be almost 1:1 with old page but: domain will be different (I can't explain to the client that this will damage our core brand). Beacuse of that I'm forcing idea of going with brandname.com/shop domain instead of newshop.com beacuse our main brand is well known to our customers, not as much as old shop but still better than new shop brand. engine and design will be different we will lost almost 30 000 backlinks. budget: only IT. No content and seo tools budget. BONUS: client hired before me some "SEO magician" - now SEO audit score with tools like ahrefs etc. is around 6 - 12% for 100 000 pages on new shop. Great. Does anyone have idea how to approach such task with minimal losses?

How long after https migration that google shows in search console new sitemap being indexed?
We migrated 4 days ago to https and followed best practices..

In search console now still 80% of our sitemaps appear as "pending" and among those sitemaps that were processed only less than 1% of submitted pages appear as indexed? Is this normal ?
How long does it take for google to index pages from sitemap?
Before https migration nearly all our pages were indexed and I see in the crawler stats that google has crawled a number of pages each day after migration that corresponds to number of submitted pages in sitemap. Sitemap and crawler stats show no errors.0 -
Massive URL Migration with thousands of 301
Hey Everyone! I'm currently working on a project that we have A Lot of product pages and we have thousands of URL's that need to be 301'd over. I know this can be a major issue and could lead to tons of errors. What is everyone's thought of doing such a huge Migration, Should I do it all in phases? or should I do them all at once so they can all be indexed together? What would you suggest to be the best way to go about doing such a massive migration?

New site, new URL, lots of custom content. Load it all or "trickle" it over time?
New site, new URL, lots of custom content. Load it all or "trickle" it over time? Would it make a difference in terms of ranking the site? Interested in your thoughts. Thanks! BBuck!

Does Google make continued attempts to crawl an old page one it has followed a 301 to the new page?
I am curious about this for a couple of reasons. We have all dealt with a site who switched platforms and didn't plan properly and now have 1,000's of crawl errors. Many of the developers I have talked to have stated very clearly that the HTacccess file should not be used for 1,000's of singe redirects. I figured If I only needed them in their temporarily it wouldn't be an issue. I am curious if once Google follows a 301 from an old page to a new page, will they stop crawling the old page?

Why do old URL format are still being crawled by Rogerbot?
Hi, In the early days of my blog, I used permalinks with the following format: http://www.mysitesamp.com/2009/02/04/heidi-cortez-photo-shoot/ I then decided to change this format using .htaccess to this format: http://www.mysitesamp.com//heidi-cortez-photo-shoot/ My question is, why do rogerbot still crawls my old URL format since these urls' no longer exists in my website or blog.
