Blog.site.com vs site.com/blog

Which is better for SEO: blog.site.com or site.com/blog. In other words, is it better to have the blog running in a subdomain or as a director within the main site? Right now we are running as a subdomain, but want to be sure Google isn't considering that a separate site. The blog shows up separately on Google Analytics, which makes me think site.com/blog is better if for no other reason, it would give our domain greater traffic.
Not sure if this matters, but some site info:
- our site is a sharing economy tool for renting your stuff
- we are running the blog on Wordpress
- blog traffic is about 5% of total traffic

Hi,
This is a pretty big debate in the world of SEO. Here is a thread that should have all the information you are looking for. https://moz.com/community/q/the-great-subdomain-vs-subfolder-debate-what-is-the-best-answer
In my opinion, if you run an E-Commerce site or a site that is hard to build links to, I would stay away from a subdomain.
For example, product pages on E-Commerce sites are especially difficult to build links to. If you look at the product page link profile on sites like Amazon, you will find almost no links pointing to those pages. The reason they usually rank #1 in the SERPs is because of their DA. This is where blogs come into play. If you have a sound content marketing strategy that is bringing in links to your blog posts, these posts will pass link juice to your root domain and improve your overall rankings.
If you are using site.com/blog rather than blog.site.com it might help your SEO by passing more link juice and improving your root domain, but it certainly won't hurt it. There is a possibility it might help if you switch, so I would opt for that.
Hope that helps!

Subdomains can be seen as a seperate site altogether from the main domain. I would recommend keeping the blog on a directory within the main site.
Hope this helps some.

Can you use creative commons non-commercial images on a company blog?
Does anyone know if it is okay to use creative commons images on your company blog if they are under the Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 2.0 Generic license. Technically you are using it on a commercial site, but you are not directly making money from the image or selling it.

Wordpress Duplicate Pages/ URL's - Help !
Hi guys, I have been running SEOMoz for just over a month and slowly cleaning up one of my Wordpress Blogs. While going through the crawl reports I have noticed that I have duplicate pages showing on the crawl. For example, the main post would be; www.xxxxx.com/blog/post-title Then I see another URL which would be; **www.xxxx.com/blog/page/59 ** When I click on either URL it goes back to the actual post title URL. What's with these page URL's ? Isn't these two URL's showing duplicate content to the search engines ? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Simple question: How many words optimal for blog posts
Hello, We're adding a blog to one of our sites. How many words should be in a blog post for it to be optimal for the search engines? If it varies from industry to industry, please give a couple of examples. We were going to do 500 words but that seems a bit long. Thanks!

Dashes / Slashes / Full Spots in Meta Tile.
Hello, I have a question how about how google sees dashes, slashes, full stops etc. I am new to SEO so this might be dumb. I sell refurbished printer parts. The majority of people search for the part number in google. A typical part number might be "04.F5/S3A YA50" . A customer might search for "04F5S3A YA50" or "04.F5/S3AYA50" or "04.F5/S3A YA50" or "04.F5/S3A-YA50". They aren't radically different but seem to effect the rankings. At the moment I use the following stucture for the meta tiles, descriptions etc 04.T5/S3A YA50 (04T5S3AYA50) by OEM | mysite Buy refurbished OEM 04.T5/S3A YA50 (04T5S3AYA50). Free next day delivery. 12 month warrnanty on all parts. www.mysite/4F5S3AYA50 Part number (Part number no spaces) by OEM | Mysite Generic text Part number (Part number no spaces) text www.mysite/(Part number no spaces My questions, should I try to include all the different ways a customer might search for a part number in my meta title, description, url etc. Or should I try to include within the content of the page. Many thanks
