Show Unique User Goal Completions in Analytics Instead of Totals

Hello Everyone,
Currently within Google Analytics, I have a mostly unfiltered view and several goals setup.
One of my goals is tracking the download of an eBook (setup to track visits to the 'success' page of the download).
At the moment (as I understand it), that tracks "TOTAL" goal completions.
So, if the same user/person downloads the eBook twice, I will see 2 goal completions.
What I'm trying to figure out is how to generate a report or view or something that tells me how many "unique" users have downloaded the eBook.
Is this possible to do? And, can I do it using past data or do I have to setup a new filter that would only track unique users going forward?

Hi Robert,
Absolutely, that's correct - it will only count as one conversion.
If a user comes back and downloads it again, that will be from a new 'session' and yes, this will be another goal conversion.
Personally, I don't know any way of looking at Goals by unique users as it's typically a session level metric.

i just want to clarify something to make sure I understand.
if I have a goal that is a user going to "/ebook-success.html", then you are saying if a user hits that page twice in one session, it will only count as ONE goal conversion (not two)?
But, if that user comes back a couple weeks later and download the ebook again, at that point will it track another goal conversion?
Is there any way to track goals based on unique users only (provided GA can track them as a unique user based on cookies, inassume).

Hi Robert,
Goals will only trigger once per session - it's only GA events that fire multilple times, but there is the ability to view 'unique events' within Google Analytics.
To use your example, as a 'Goal' in Google Analytics, downloading an eBook twice or downloading multiple eBooks in a session will only trigger one Google Analytics goal completion - effectively this is the 'unique' metric you're looking for.

What happens when i import analytics conversions into adwords if I already have conversions set up?
Hey everyone, I have a question. We already have conversion tracking set up for our landing pages, however Adwords has the option to import goals from anaytics, one of which is for the landing pages. What will happen if I do? Will it erase all the conversion data I already have? Will it mess things up? Or am I not understanding this correctly... Any help would be appreciated 🙂

Analytics : Goal tracking for multiple payment methods
ello! I don't know if anyone else has come across this problem, but our ecommerce site offers two payment methods during checkout. I've set up goals and they successfully record the total number of transactions. Our site offers two payment methods (credit card and purchase order) and once you hit the 'select your payment' page, you're directed to different pages to make payment and end up on the thank you page. I created two goals, a credit card one that has "funnel" turned on and lists every page a 'credit card' customer would undertake, and a 'purchase order' goal listing all the pages a customer who undertake when making a "purchase order" payment. Google is however recording figures for both. Say I had 10 credit card orders and 5 purchase order, my Goals report 15 for both. Anyone come across this?

Complete website redesign - what to look for
We are having our website redesigned by an SEO company to increase CTR and for a better user experience and I was wondering what to look for and what key questions to ask. At the moment we rank very well for a few strong keywords and I m afraid that by rewriting the content and changing the website layout we might put at risk some of the rankings even for a brief period of time. How Do I Create a Google Analytics Dashboard for My Designer To Monitor Landing Page A/B Testing
Hello All, We recently started doing some "AdWords Experiments" using A/B testing of our search landing pages. My web design team does not have access to our AdWords account, but they do have "user" access to our Google Analytics account. What I need to figure out how to do is setup an easy dashboard (or custom report) that will show them at a quick glance how the two versions of their page are performing in terms of: Goal Completions (Conversions) where the specific page is the entrance/landing page. Call extension only showing with some keywords/ads?
I've enabled Call Extensions with Call Forwarding on my Adwords Campaign (found out Location Extension must be enabled, so enabled that, but left out phone number in location settings). I thought these extensions should work on a campaign level. However, I can only see the google voice call forwarding extension on some of my keywords/ads. What's up?

Why does Google only show the review stars for some listings in the Places results
I have a client who shows up in the Places results for his targeted keyword phrase, but one of his competitors' listing shows 5 gold stars next to the reviews which causes him to stand out visually. I was under the impression that at one time the stars only showed for listings that had official Google reviews, but the other listings in the results also have "Google Reviews" but no stars.
