Duplicate central index listing

Hello Moz community
I have a duplicate listing in Central Index (GB) and all communication channels seem unresponsive. I have emailed support and general sales. I even tried contacting them on their facebook account.
I am stumped as to how I can get this duplicate listing removed as I have no control over it and the support is non-existent.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

I recently had the same problem (2022) - It appears like their response team has step up - email; support@centralindex.com and they will remove the duplicate/incorrect listing free of charge with a kindly worded email

Hi, we are having issues with Central Index, too.
We are an office space agency that is purely focused on helping businesses find flexible workspace - website: [https://www.theofficeproviders.com](link URL) - our profile was set up a few years ago and listed in the correct category.
However, since December 2020, we have been finding our company listed in all sorts of categories ranging from DVD rentals to fabric retailers!
This is occurring in all newspapers that CI propagates to (so around 500 links).
We have contacted CI several times but no response.
We are aware that these are no follow, but I imagine that this miscategorisation could still be causing SEO problems?
Could anyone suggest a fix?

Hi Avid-Panda - I have the same issue, and despite my many attempts, cannot get my duplicate entry removed. Did you ever remove your duplicate, and if so, could you please let me know how?

Ah, I see where you are coming from. I should have been more clear. The two listings are technically inconsistent, as one listing lacks some details of the other (such as the county/state). So the Name, Address and Phone number does not match up.
That said, one listing having incomplete information is unlikely to have the same implications as a listing which has conflicting information. I haven't seen any data to confirm that though, which is why I assume there is some detrimental impact.
I have tried their social media repeatedly but to no avail.
I'm sure they will call me sooner or later trying to sell something, then I can bring it up

Inconsistent, yes - this could have a negative effect, but just because a listing appears a second time on the same site, this wouldn't be a negative.
Take Yell.com as an example - you can appear on many pages on there, as you can in many directories, and this has never been shown to cause any problems. However, I would be interested to see any research that says otherwise.
I really wouldn't worry about this if all it is, is a possibility that a second listing might also get featured.
I can't offer advice on specifics to do with the site itself I'm afraid though. Have you tried reaching them via Twitter, LinkedIn or Facebook?

Yes and yes.
According to many resources including many here on Moz, inconsistent and duplicate listings are bad for local SEO.
Inconsistent listings are more serious, but duplicates also have a negative effect (if someone knows better please update me).
So my concern is that this is having a detrimental effect, however small, that I might not be able to fix. I am surprised that one of the biggest directories in the UK is not managed.
Perhaps I can claim both listings by paying, then delete one of them. Has anyone done this before?

Ahh now I understand - so they are sending your listings out twice?
Have you checked to make sure that your listing is actually being duplicated on other sites?
Chances are that this wouldn't do anything from any SEO or Google perspective - I'm not actually familiar with that site so can't offer any specific suggestions on how they work.
What is your main concern that is worrying you?

Thank you for your response. I am not sure how to interpret your question. The type of listing includes Name, Address, Phone number with the usual info like mail and website. If there is any further criteria for types of listings then I am unfamiliar with it. It isn't a paid listing if that helps.
I thought I had shared the problem. Could you clarify what information you are after?

Local Landing Page Optimization and Multiple GMB Listings
Hello, We’re building out a site for our business that has close to 100 office locations in different cities. Many of these are ‘partner brands’ that we have acquired under our brand. Similar to a franchise model. We want to be able to help users find offices near their location. Each office will have it’s own landing page with a physical address and contact information. We know we’ll have to build out unique copy and markup customized to the office/location. We’ve already read through https://moz.com/blog/overcoming-your-fear-of-local-landing-pages as well. We’re also considering ‘silos’ to build out pages for each location. To preserve authority and avoid cannibalization; our thought was having each location as sub-folders off of our domain (i.e. domain.com/locations/Partner#1/). The other option would be using a sub-domain (i.e. Partner.Domain.com/) which we noticed competitors doing and treating each sub-domain as their own independent site. Is all of the above the correct strategy? Any further suggestions? Should we fill out a separate GMB for each office and should they all use the same brand name? (in other words “BrandA” vs. “BrandA” - Brooklyn Office). In addition to GMB; would each location need local listings created (also all under the same name)? Where does the small description on a business listing come from in google maps?
Hi All, Simple question, but I'm struggling to find the answer, so I hope someone is able to help. How to Have Multiple Listings appear on Google maps
Hi my client has two locations for his restaurants: Me Gusta Tacos He wants to have both his locations show up in the map pack, which they currently do when you type in Restaurants, Dinner, food near me etc... However, when you google Me Gusta Tacos the Google listing shows up on the right for one of his locations, but there isn't a Map Pack for his two locations. I wasn't sure if a map pack only shows up when there are 3 or more locations, for instance, a chipotle which I added an image below to compare too. HGOgln5 Jgdoi4Y

Tracking Phone Numbers in Google My Business Listings and Beyond
Hey all, Wanted to run something by you. I am getting pressed to use tracking phone numbers for all of our GMB pages for over 100 locations across the country. Has anyone done this for their own listings or for their clients? Because I will have to do it for GMB, this means I will be sending these same phone numbers out to the other major directories and data sources around the web. The phone numbers do contain the local area code for each city and do directly connect our customers to their specific location without any kind of redirecting. How is Google looking at this? I have read before it is a no-no but have also read it is not a big deal. Any thoughts would be much appreciated! -Ben

Yahoo Local Business Listings Hijacked
We are a solar company with three locations. When claiming our business listings on Yahoo (Yext), we noticed that one of them had already been claimed. The name of our company and our phone number were changed to a lead generation company. Upon further inspection, this company has hijacked hundreds of listings throughout the state and the country. This is a widespread, blatant fraud, and I would hope they would have interest in fixing it. Solar Connector (fake name) is associated with SolarAmerica.com, which is run by Clean Energy Experts, which was purchased by Sunrun (a publicly traded company). My specific question is, does anyone have any insight on the best method for getting help from Yahoo/Yext? Other than through their "help portal" on the website. Yext Listings: Why don't I see new inbound links?
The company I work for recently switched over to Yext to manage the local listings for our 275+ locations. Our listings have now been live with Yext for over 3 weeks and I'm wondering A. when should I expect to see new inbound links from these yext listings? and B. In what ways can I expedite the process? I've already re-crawled our site, but is there anything else I can do? This is my first experience with Yext so any thoughts or suggests about how to get the most out of the product would also be appreciated. Thanks,

Removing Unverified Listing From Google
We have an old unverified listing that has our information on it, but we can't get it off google. I told them months ago it was closed, and it is marked as closed in Google...but it still shows up. Moz Local is telling me this is an inconsistency that hurts our local rankings. I went to delete the page from our Google Business/Place, but if I did that, the warning said that I would just not have access to the page, and that the listing would still show up on google. How do I permanently get rid of those thing, so it's not longer an inconsistent listing? Ruben
