SERP Business Listing
-
Hello,
While searching on mobile I was testing keywords to see if my business listing would appear. I noticed for certain keywords it would trigger a competitors business to come up in the knowledge panel. I'm running adwords so my business typically always appears in the top ad panel but my business listing isn't recognized for particular keywords. Is there any reason why a competitors business listing would appear in the SERP over our business? It seems random. Is there maybe something I could add on the google business listing? Does anyone have any tips for this?
Thanks!

As you are running AdWords, the reason your ad isn't showing up will depend on several factors.
The main factors why your business isn't showing up on those keywords are:
- Improper configuration on the ad, not including the targeted keywords
- CTR %: The higher the CTR, the better the ad quality and the higher the chances that it shows
- Lower bid: Other businesses might be paying more for the ad space and so their ad shows more
- Relevancy: If your ad and your landing page are relevant and optimized for the targeted keyword, there is a higher chance for it to show up.
- Landing page experience (Based on several factors like bounce rate, time on page, ctr, etc.)
If you are directing all of the ads to your homepage, then you might want to create some landing pages for those keywords where your ad doesn't show up, and it should be increasing the rank.
On the other side, for your business listing to rank higher, it will depend mainly on:
- Keyword relevancy
- Location: The closer to the user, the better
- Local citations
- Number of (positive) reviews
So, apply the needed optimization and you should see your business listing slowly get higher on the SERP.

Where does the small description on a business listing come from in google maps?
Hi All, Simple question, but I'm struggling to find the answer, so I hope someone is able to help. The business I run is Oakdene Forest Park; Google Maps URL: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Oakdene™+Forest+Park/@50.8114372,-1.8598721,18z/data=!4m12!1m6!3m5!1s0x4873980ce90e4ef7:0x755579d631c25b33!2sOakdene™+Forest+Park!8m2!3d50.8114796!4d-1.8582842!3m4!1s0x4873980ce90e4ef7:0x755579d631c25b33!8m2!3d50.8114796!4d-1.8582842?hl=en Under the business name, it has a small description and for the life of me I don't know where Google is getting it from because a part of it is wrong. It looks like this: Oakdene™ Forest Park Rural Resort with Entertainment & a Spa I would like to remove the term 'Rural Resort' but where do I find it?? Thanks in advance for your help.

(Australian Business) Ranks 7th Brisbane, but ranks 3rd in Sydney and Melbourne. Why is Brisbane ranking worse, how to fix?
Years ago the rank would be the same across Australia. If we ranked 3rd in one city, it would be the same in every other city. Right now, we are ranking 3rd in Sydney and Melbourne, however we ranking a low 7th in Brisbane for keyword "Trampolines". Why is this? How can we fix it in Brisbane. Interestingly, we are a Brisbane based business. The keyword is "Trampolines" and the website is http://www.vulyplay.com

What would Cause listing to fall off local search map spot?
Any reason a listing that was showing in Google between the 3 and 5 spot on local map search would suddenly disappear all together from the map position for a specific keyword?

Will changing my business location affect my ranking for localised searches in my original area?
I run a mobile outdoor personal training service in London, UK (i.e. no bricks and mortar gym). Or, rather, my business is in London (all my clients and the freelance trainers that work for me) but I'm personally due to move out to the county of Suffolk. As I work from a home office and my company's registered address is my home, that means I have to inform Companies House and various government agencies that the company has moved. Does this mean: a) I also must tell Google the company has moved, and; b) if I do will Google start to see my website as being for a Suffolk-based company? I really don't want this to happen: my clientele are mostly in London., I still want to market to Londoners. And if I want to expand the areas covered by my company, Suffolk is not high on my list. You'll excuse me if this is a simple question! Thanks for any help you could give

Multiple listing directory pages pointing back to the same local business profile
I've been tuning my SEO pages to cover cities, states, and metro areas for local businesses we have. I'm wondering if the same business showing up on multiple pages, because they can actually go out and service that area, has a negative impact on rankings. Does multiple pages on your site, pointing to the same content, hurt or help the ranking of either page?

Bing Places for Business - Worth It?
Hey Fellow Mozzers, I am trying to determine if Bing Places for Business is worth the time and effort it takes to create listings. My business has 900 locations, and would take some time to create the bulk upload file to load into the Bing Places for Business dashboard. My question is, since Bing already does a good job of creating business listings using data from 3rd party sources such as Yelp and Citysearch, where I already have a strong presence for each of my locations, is there any value in overriding the automatically created business page for each of my location with information that I upload?
