Setting Up Ecommerce Functionalty for the First Time
-
Morning Mozers!
We are running up against a technical url structure issue with the addition of eCommerce pages . We are hoping you can point us in the right direction. We operate a printing company so all our current product info page are structured like:website/printing/business-cards
website/printing/rackcards
website/printing/etcThe ecommerce functionality needs to go into a sub folder but the question is what should we name it?
this how the urls would look like in the main category and product pages
/business-cards
/business-cards/full-uv-coaing-both-sideswe were thinking either going with /order
website/order/business-cards
website/order/business-cards/full-uv-coaing-both-sidesor maybe shop/ or/print-order/ etc
Any ideas or suggestions?

Considering your printing business and the addition of eCommerce functionality, I would recommend going with the "shop" subfolder. This makes the most intuitive sense and is user-friendly. Your URLs would look like:
website/shop/business-cards
website/shop/business-cards/full-uv-coating-both-sides
"Shop" is a commonly recognized term for eCommerce sections on websites and is likely to be well-received by your users. It clearly indicates where customers can find and order your products.(Canada PR) (Study abroad) (PMP Exam Prep) ( Reference Letter for Canada PR)

Unsolved Orphaned unwanted urls from the cms
Hi
Technical SEO | | MattHopkins
I am working on quite an old cms, and there are bunch of urls that don't make any sense.
https://www.trentfurniture.co.uk/products/all-outdoor-furniture/all-outdoor-furniture/1
https://www.trentfurniture.co.uk/products/all-chairs/all-chairs/1
https://www.trentfurniture.co.uk/products/all-industries/all-chairs/1
https://www.trentfurniture.co.uk/products/all-chairs/all-industries/1
https://www.trentfurniture.co.uk/products/all-chairs/banqueting-furniture/1
https://www.trentfurniture.co.uk/products/all-chairs/bar-furniture/1
https://www.trentfurniture.co.uk/products/all-chairs/bentwood-furniture/1
For example there are no internal links. And fortunately not much traffic at all. But I can't see in the cms why they are generating? I've tried to check the html code to check why, what's the reason? But all I can think of is the structure....? something odd the cms writes?
Anyone have any ideas please? And would I redirect all these? Just thinking there could be a better solution/fix, rather than redirects since there are no links or traffic.....Like the devs solve why they are generating.....Unfortunately I get very slow responses from the devs as a 3rd pty company, hence on here ;0). (Some of those are indexed too)... :0) Thanks in advance....0 -
Optimization expert suggesting we add Canonical tag to every page on site
Hi guys, We're currently launching a new page, and we have an optimization and technical SEO expert (highly rated on Upwork, very intelligent, has solved complicated issues in the past and improved our Core Web Vitals greatly) suggesting we put canonical tags on every page of site, pointing to itself (other than the case of where canonicals should point to other page, we have those listed separately. Do you guys see a benefit to this? Could it harm us? He says large retailers do this, couldn't quite glean the benefit from it though. Current site ranks well and isn't set up like this. Any insight would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Should I Focus on Video Schema or a Video Sitemap First
Hey all, I'm working on a website that is soon going to launch a video hub that contains over 500 videos. I'm interested in ensuring that the videos show up on the SERPs page in the highest position possible. I know Google recommends that you have on-page schema for your videos as well as an XML sitemap so they can be indexed for SERP. When I look at schema and the XML video sitemap they seem to communicate very similar kinds of information (Title, Description, Thumbnail, Duration). I'm not sure which one to start with; is it more important to have video schema or a video sitemap? Additionally, if anyone knows of any good video sitemap generators (free is best, but cheap is okay too) then please let me know. Cursory google searching has just churned up a number of tools that look sketchy.

Page Load Timings: How accurate is Google Analytics Data?
Hello Guys, what are your experiences? How accurate is google analytics data regarding page load times? I know that one of my sites has trouble with pageload times, especially in India and USA. We are based in middle Europe and regarding to the GA data we have here in middle europe of about 2 seconds page load time. Moreover we have of about 4 seconds in USA and 10 seconds in India. Therefore I decided to test for a few sides a CDN (on these pages all static files are served over the CDN). However, first GA data indicates, that the page load times are even getting worse!!! But when I test it for example with pingdom (http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/) and compare it with an old landing page without CDN implementation, the tool says it's faster. The CDN provider (maxcdn) send me also some reports, which indicate, that the page load time should be faster...That's the reason why I ask about your experience with the GA page load time data, because personally I get the impression you cannot trust the data... Thanks for your help! Cheers
