GA4 showing 2 versions of my homepage
-
When my website Custom Made Casino switched from universal analytics to GA, i have noticed that now in the behavior section it is showing 2 versions of my homepage which I feel may be impacting seo.
It is showing the main url which we use for everything, https://custommadecasino.com/ , and it is showing https://custommadecasino.com/index.php?route-common/home. This was never the case with universal.
Does anyone know if this is a problem and if so, how do i fix it so that our proper homepage is what is indexed?

@CustomMadeCasino
I think It is due to tracking code -
Certainly! To address the issue of GA4 showing two versions of your homepage, you can follow these steps:
Check for Duplicate Tags:
First, ensure that you haven't added the Google Analytics 4 tracking code twice on your homepage. Duplicate tracking codes can lead to multiple pageviews being recorded.Debug Your Tracking Code:
Use the Google Analytics Debugger tool or browser extensions like Google Tag Assistant to check if the tracking code is firing correctly. This will help you identify any issues with how the code is implemented.Examine Page URLs:
GA4 may treat slight variations in URLs as separate pages. Check if there are any URL parameters or case differences in your homepage URLs that could be causing this.URL Parameters:
If you're using URL parameters for tracking purposes, make sure they are correctly configured in your GA4 settings. GA4 allows you to exclude specific parameters to prevent duplicate tracking.Canonical Tags:
Ensure that your homepage has a canonical tag specifying the preferred version of the page. This can help GA4 consolidate tracking data for similar pages.Filters and Views:
In your GA4 property settings, review any filters or views that might be affecting how data is collected. Make sure you don't have any filters that could be causing duplication.Content Grouping:
If you're using content grouping in GA4, verify that your homepage is assigned to the correct group. Incorrect grouping can lead to multiple entries.Pageview Triggers:
If you're using Google Tag Manager (GTM), check your triggers to ensure they are set up correctly. Incorrect triggers can cause additional pageviews.Events or Virtual Pageviews:
Review any events or virtual pageviews that might be triggering on your homepage. Ensure they are configured as intended.Custom Dimensions and Metrics:
Check if any custom dimensions or metrics are affecting your homepage tracking. Verify that they are configured correctly.Data Stream Configuration:
In your GA4 data stream settings, confirm that the correct domain and subdomain are specified for your website.Real-Time Reports:
Use the Real-Time reports in GA4 to see if both versions of your homepage are actively being tracked. This can help you identify when and how the duplication occurs.By systematically going through these steps, you should be able to pinpoint the cause of the duplicate tracking and take appropriate action to resolve it in your Google Analytics 4 setup.

@stefangatti Hi Stefan,
Appreciate your response on this. I will definitely go through this. The staging site was not supposed to be indexed so I will definitely review this and make sure this is not indexed. Thanks for your input, very helpful!

Hey @CustomMadeCasino,
I shouldn't think this is anything to do with your analytics set-up, but it certainly isn't ideal for SEO. In an ideal world you'd set up a permanent redirect from the non-standard homepage URL to the correct version. You could also add a canonical tag but a permanent redirect is the preferred method.
If you can edit the .htaccess file of your website you can even add a redirect rule using RegEx to catch any URLs, more info here: https://www.semrush.com/blog/301-redirect-htaccess/
On a related note, If you enter this into Google "site:https://custommadecasino.com" you'll see that your staging subdomain is also indexed (https://staging.custommadecasino.com/)
It looks to me like it would be worthwhile conducting a basic technical SEO audit on your website. Have you got Google Search Console set up with this domain? If so, the Indexing > Pages report can help you find issues. If not, I'd recommend doing it ASAP!
Hope that helps!
Cheers,
Stefan

Page Indexing without content
Hello. I have a problem of page indexing without content. I have website in 3 different languages and 2 of the pages are indexing just fine, but one language page (the most important one) is indexing without content. When searching using site: page comes up, but when searching unique keywords for which I should rank 100% nothing comes up. This page was indexing just fine and the problem arose couple of days ago after google update finished. Looking further, the problem is language related and every page in the given language that is newly indexed has this problem, while pages that were last crawled around one week ago are just fine. Has anyone ran into this type of problem?

Custom Events Not Showing in GA4
I have some experience in successfully creating custom events for GA4 via Tag Manager, but I have one account where my events are firing in GTM but not showing at all in GA4 (not real time or anywhere). I have twice done them over and published my changes but still no luck. Any ideas what else the issue can be? There are no internal filters at the moment. Thank you.

Google SERPs Show Different Title
Hi Guys, Can anyone please help with my situation. My domain is www.greedybins.com.au. I had title setup in every pages differently, and it has been 2 months since I made the changes. I keep checking by using site:www.greedybins.com.au in search. So far, only 1 title that been show correctly in SERPs. I used SEO Yoast before, I changed to All In One SEO Pack plugin, the titles are changing, but still not accurate as I made it. Somehow Google altered it by itself. I have tried fetch and submit sitemap couple times from Google Search Console. Could anyone please advise?

I have a GoDaddy website and have multiple homepages
I have GoDaddy website builder and a new website http://ecuadorvisapros.com and I notices through your crawl test that there are 3 home pages http://ecuadorvisapros with a 302 temporary redirect, http://www.ecuadorvisapros.com/ with no redirect and http://www.ecuadorvisapros/home.html. GoDaddy says there is only one home page. Is this going to kill my chances of having a successful website and can this be fixed? Or can it. I actually went with the SEO version thinking it would be better, but it wants to auto change my settings that I worked so hard at with your sites help. Please keep it simple, I am a novice although I have had websites in the past I know more about the what's than the how's of websites. Thanks,

Why are these internal pages not showing any internal links?
If you look at Author profile pages like this one, http://experts.allbusiness.com/author/denise-oberry (THE top contributor on the site with over 82 posts under her belt), or any Author profile page, they show zero internal links or Page Authority. The same goes for most posts for each author on the site. Author pages should show internal links from every post the author has on the site. And specific posts should also have internal links from categories, etc. Yet they show zero. The only posts that show internal links and PA are ones that were either syndicated to the root domain's homepage, or syndicated to Fox Small Business. ZERO internal links. Does anyone know why this is? The root domain does not act this way with Author pages and posts. And I see nothing blocking links or indexing via the robots.txt file or page level nofollow tags. A real head scratcher for this SEO nerd, that I'm sure someone here will have a really simple answer to.

Why am I not showing up in the SERP's or Google Local?
I have been trying to optimise the following site for both Google SERP's and Google Local - Pixel Primate The URL has been around for around 3 years now but they just updated the website and launched it in December 2012. I did the on-page optimisation early in January 2013 and Google seems to have indexed the changes, for the home page at least. One major keyword I am targeting for the home page is 'Web Design Leicester'. I understand that the DA is fairly low (24) so this is something I need to improve. However, I've experienced positive results fairly quickly from just on-page optimisation for other sites I have worked on. The site just doesn't seem to be ranking at all for any keywords. Maybe the industry type is just extremely competitve but I find it very strange to not be visible anywhere in the SERPs. The site does not seem to have any penalties as it ranks for 'Pixel Primate' and all pages appear when doing a site: search. Also what's strange is that I set up the Google Local listing years ago but it doesn't appear anywhere in the local listing, not even when I search for it manually. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Google Cache Version and Text Only Version are different
Across various websites we found Google cache version in the browser loads the full site and all content is visible. However when we try to view TEXT only version of the same page we can't see any content. Example: we have a client with JS scroller menu on the home page. Each scroller serves a separate content section on the same URL. When we copy paste some of the page content in Google, we can see that copy indexed in Google search results as well as showing in Cache version . But as soon as we go into Text Only version we cant see the same copy. We would like to know which version we should trust, Google cache version or the TEXT only version.
