On-page SEO

This is a question for the organic SEO experts, once you added the main keyword that you want to rank for in the homepage title, meta title plus meta description, perhaps once or twice in the text on the homepage. How often do you then write it in the content marketing, say blog posts, we want to rank higher on Google for "SEO agencies Cardiff" however if you mention this in the blog posts too much say once a week, this could lead to over optimisation issues?

On-page SEO is the foundation of a successful digital marketing strategy. Here's a brief overview of key tactics:

Content Quality: Create valuable, well-structured content that addresses user needs.
Meta Tags: Craft compelling meta titles and descriptions that encourage clicks.
URL Optimization: Use clean, keyword-rich URLs for better search engine visibility.
Header Tags: Utilize H1, H2, and H3 tags to organize content and signal importance.
Image Optimization: Optimize images with descriptive filenames and alt tags.
Internal Linking: Link related pages within your site to improve navigation and SEO.
Mobile-Friendliness: Ensure your site is responsive and optimized for mobile devices.
By implementing these on-page SEO techniques, you can enhance your website's visibility and attract more organic traffic.

Hi Moz Expert SEO Community,
I'm reaching out to discuss a situation I'm encountering with keyword search volume data for a client website I'm optimizing for on-page SEO.
While other tools are indicating a healthy amount of traffic for the keywords I've chosen for content creation, Moz is offering significantly lower search volume estimates. This inconsistency is causing client concerns and potentially hindering project approval.
To effectively address this and ensure successful client communication, I'd like to dig deeper into how Moz approaches search volume calculations. Understanding the methodology behind Moz's data will allow me to explain potential reasons for the differences and provide a more comprehensive picture for the client.
Here are some talking points I consider for client discussions:
Data Source Transparency: Explain how Moz uses its own methodology to estimate search volume, which may differ from other tools.
Focus on value over volume: While search volume is important, emphasize the importance of other factors such as user intent, keyword difficulty, and conversion potential when choosing keywords.
Data accuracy considerations: Recognize that search volume data can fluctuate across platforms, and using a combination of tools can provide a broader perspective.
Would you recommend additional strategies to deal with this situation and effectively select good volume keywords for this particular website from Moz?Thanks in advance for your insight!
well wishes,

It's vital to maintain keyword density to avoid over-optimization. For "SEO agencies Cardiff," I'd recommend using variations and related terms in your blog posts. Perhaps include the keyword once every 3-4 posts, and focus more on providing valuable, engaging content that naturally incorporates these terms.

@sarahwalsh Thanks for posting a unique and meaningful question first of all. You need to understand that whenever users search for any keywords the Websites get ranked most of the time not the blogs until and unless there is a value in it for e.g. If you want to rank your blog for your targeted keyword then specific for you the topic would be top 10 SEO agencies in Cardiff and list down the list of agencies. To rank your website you can internal link your main keyword while writing a blog or any form of content link it to your landing page of a website.

Does sending ecom traffic away from a site impact rankings?
I have a client that represents a few big brands but doesn't offer ecommerce capability onsite, they essentially send traffic to retailers and distributors that do sell their products online - they even point to an amazon store that they own. My question is, if they did offer ecom and the conversions took place on their site, rather than direct traffic away from them, would this impact on their rankings at all?

Home page optimisation
It's not possible to add a keyword to the homepage url. Do we still add a secondary keyword along the primary one on the home page title and meta description etc. How do we make our primary keyword to dominate in this case. Thanks

Will it upset Google if I aggregate product page reviews up into a product category page?
We have reviews on our product pages and we are considering averaging those reviews out and putting them on specific category pages in order for the average product ratings to be displayed in search results. Each averaged category review would be only for the products within it's category, and all reviews are from users of the site, no 3rd party reviews. For example, averaging the reviews from all of our boxes products pages, and listing that average review on the boxes category page. My question is, will this be doing anything wrong in the eyes of Google, and if so how so? -Derick

Sold Products appear as duplicate pages 'Page Not Found' ???
Hi there, I'm down to just 6 duplicate page warnings but I'm not sure how to deal with this one: Information Page Not Found! http://www.vintageheirloom.com/index.php?route=information/information&information_id=6 My Ecommerce shopping site products are unique, 1 of a kind. So once one product has sold and been delivered we take the product off our website, hence the Information Page Not Found! As I understand when search engines re-index these warnings will drop off but new sold products would replace them. So redirecting seems like hard work and never ending. Is it ok to ignore these warnings? Thanks Mozzers..

Autogenerated pages
My main product is database conversion software. As it supports tons of databases, it's fairly easy to generate thousands of landing pages simply by variating source/target database names, connection information etc. In fact, I autogenerated almost 25k pages that way. As I didn't want to jeopardize my main site, I placed all that content to a new microsite (www.fullconvert.com) which had no history and no inbound links. Results were nice - site is live two months and in second month already had 1300 visitors. Now, my question is - should I create the same thing on my (old and rather authoritative) main site www.spectralcore.com? I could use a different template to avoid duplicate content. Of course, my main concern is being penalized by Google. In my opinion, this autogenerated content is fine because it provides (tons of) laser-focused landing pages, so visitors will instantly recognize they found what they're looking for. But Google might disagree! What do you think? Is there a danger in trying to leverage authority of my main site in adding 20k+ autogenerated pages with inbound no links to them?

Faq page
We are redoing our faq page and we were trying to decide on the best format. 1. Create each question on a separate page 2. Create one page with all the question and have the questions expand 3. Create different faq category pages (like 4) and divide the questions between them From my perspective #1 seems the best ---. you can create hyper relevant content for the user and optimize each question really well Any experience with this?

Duplicate Page Content and Duplicate Page Title
Hi All, I'm new in SEOMoz and have some questions after I have already spend 2-3 days trying to resolve the problems identified from Crawling one of my clients websites. I get quite a lot of Duplicate Page Conntent and Page Titles warnings and trying to find a workaround through the forums and posts. I continuously get this error on most of my pages: URL: http://domain.com/benefits with the same Page but with a WWW in front URL: http://www.domain.com/benefits Any advice will be highly appreciated. Thanks, Athos

Why is this page ranking highest?
I've just used Open Site Explorer to compare some sites whose (unpaid) Google ranking I aspire to. They all have higher authority than my site, but the top ranking site out of the 3 I've looked at has the lowest Page Authority, hardly and links (when the others have hundreds), lowest page rank and lowest page trust. In fact, when you look at the top ranking page (ranks #1), it does not even have the search term in it as a complete phrase. One thing I do notice is that it does have 100,000s of linking root domains from one linking root domain. So how can it rank number one on Google?
