Hi,

I'm still having problems with redirecting. I only have 1 duplicate page with https and http, that I want to redirect but it's the homepage.

i want to redirect: https://www.domain.com to http://www.domain.com

But keep the rest of the pages the same (half http and the other half https).

How do i do this?

I'm using joomla sites. I now know how they got into our sites. We had malware on one of the computers, and apparantly keeps filezilla the passwords in a text files without encryption. I have changed all the comprimised files back, and changed every password on the sites. The hack changed every index and footer file. Let's hope it doesn't came back.

Luckily I haven't seen any changes in rankings in the last weeks. Let hope it stays this way.

I did find files that were changed on the 10 of September.

Google hasn't identified my site as being hacked.

Is there anything else I can do?

Today we found out that a website of as has been hacked and that they put this code in multiple index.php files:

After some search I found other people mentioning this problem too.They were also talking about that this could have impact on your search rankings.

My first question :  Will this hurt my rankings ?

Second question: Is there something I can do to tell the search engines about the hack so that we don't lose ranking on this.

You can also compare the date that your ranking started dropping to the date from the search updates. This way you can find out witch update caused the drop.

With e-commerce sites the content (if not there) is greatly obtained by the text from the product so the product titles , the product descriptions, and the alt-text from the product images.

Are you sure that you have search history turned off in your google account ?

It could be a cause of better relevant and quality content on the keyword on the subpage than on homepage.

I think it is more important to look at the UX instead of the SEO part.

You schould ask yourself the question what would the people prefer a .com site or a site from there own country. If the site is about information and such i think people will not mind. But if it's a E-commerce site than the visitors will be more likely to order at a national oriented site. ( talking from experience)

I'm going to change the anchor text's, and remove some.

There is one thing is still have a question about, did we get a penalty from google or did we lose the value from the bad links. Is there a way to find this out ?

Last week we got hit bij penguin 2.0. Our sites dropped on most keywords on average 10 places. We had a steady place for 2 to 3 years.

We have site-wide links in the  top of our websites to the other websites ( about 9 e-commerce sites). Today i have put rel= "nofollow " tags in all these links (accept on the hompages). To prevent spammy links.

Is there anything else we can do ?
