Hi, I took a look at the links and, in general, I do not think they would hurt your site because they all seem to be internal links that are related to your website so that is good.  With that said, it is a lot of links.  I might suggest limiting each section to 5 links or maybe moving Fabrics & Lace, Dressmaking & Couture, etc to another page.

I did notice 2 other things to look at though.  The URL in these links may be flagged as spam.  For ex, look at this URL: http://www.ditalia.com.au/wedding-dress-wedding-dresses-and-bridal-gowns-designed-and-made/vintage-wedding-dresses.  A search engine may take this as spamming the URL with keyword "wedding dress".

Also, I noticed a small glitch and is a little difficult to explain.  The white "d'Italia" logo in the top-middle of the page seems to be interfering with these links a little bit.  As you scroll down the page, if any of the links are near the same height as this logo, the logo seems to block the link.  For ex, put the link "Hot to Cut & Tear & Cut" right below the logo and try to click on it.  You can't.  You can't click on the "The Difference Between Dressmaking & Couture" link either in the other column to the left.

I have a 10 year old website done in Classic ASP, which is fast becoming outdated and we are going to convert it to PHP so all of our pages would be changed from a '/page.asp' extension to a '/page.php' extension.  I am familiar with the need to setup 301 redirects for this and I understand there will probably be a short term drop in our Google rankings.

Naturally, I don't want to have to go through this again in the future so here is my question.  Is having NO page extension, like '/aboutus/history' the wave of the future?  Does having no page extension effect SEO at all?

I have seen more websites using this technique in 2013 goes on so I am thinking this is the way we should plan our site update.  I haven't looked into how to actually do this yet, but it would seem to make sense to me so that if we needed to change from PHP to say .NET or something else later on, we would not have to do 301 redirects again or have another drop in our rankings.

Do any of you have an opinion or experience with this?

I have a 10 yr old website that we are just now adding a Symantec SSL with Extended Validation.  I've seen some older posts about whether switching to URL's to HTTP effects Google ranking and I understand it may in the short run, but I wondered if anyone had any updated info about how best to go about this.  Are there any step by step articles that could walk me through this?

Our certificate is already installed now, but we haven't forced it out there yet.  If I understand right, we will use the HTTPS on the entire site.  I am not very experienced with 301's, but I believe I can set this up in Godaddy.com where our domain is reigstered so that our old HTTP forwards to HTTPS.  Also, I don't think this effects anything within GWT so I don't think I have to make any changes there.

Am I missing anything?

FYI, the prices for this on the Symantec site are pretty high for a small business like ours.  I looked around and found https://www.thesslstore.com/, an SSL reseller, had cheaper prices listed on their site.  As it turns out, I called to ask a technical question and the sales person offered to email me a custom quote that was even cheaper than what was listed on their site.  So if you are dealing with a limited budget, I might recommend you call The SSL Store and get a quote from them.  I am not an affiliate and having nothing to do with them, I was just happy with their service and I believe it cost me about 1/2 of the price on the Symantec site.  Hope that helps someone.
