Has Panda 2.5 Hit?
-
I'm sure a few people have been asking this direct question throughout the forums but most of them are masked by indirect questions like "my traffic has dipped" and the like. Does anyone have a firm confirmation that Panda has hit?
My indication that it has hit is that I'm experiencing a ~%30 increase in traffic to my e-commerce client from organic searches after this past weekend. We haven't made any significant changes to content besides daily postings, but even that doesn't account for a %30 spike that has maintained for 3 days straight.
So again, what have you guys experienced? Anything to support this?
-
The trick is, Google isn't going to issue a release saying that they DIDN'T do an update, unless everyone seems convinced they did. Even then, they aren't consistent. It used to be that we didn't get official notifications of algo updates at all - that's a pretty recent development.
The last official roll-out was the global release on August 12th, which some called Panda 2.4 (although I think of it as just 2.3 to a broader audience).
Given the timing of Panda data updates, it is possible to see the impact of a Panda release a couple of weeks after it happens, but a 30% traffic increase doesn't sound like Panda, unless your competitors got hit. Has you ranking changed? Which keywords have more volume? Are there seasonal trends going on? You need to dig deep into the data, but it's not pointing to Panda from what I can tell.
-
We're not seeing it anywhere...
-
I hear you, but if Barry writes that Google told me that no update is running, I trust him. I don't think he was referring to the bath cleaners of the Google office when saying "Google".
Mine is just a reminder that before looking at major algo changes is always better to (re)control all the other potential reasons of a ranking change.
-
I've seen Barry's post, however he doesn't cite an actual source or release. While I do enjoy Barry's site I don't really trust information from an unnamed, unofficial source. Does anyone have a release saying it?
-
No... Panda 2.5 is not here. At least that's what Google itself told to Barry Schawrtz of Serountable.com here:
-
Why? To improve search results.
When? It's impossible to say
It could happen on Christmas Day for all we know.
-
I'm glad my rankings are not suffering but still begs the question why? And what day?
-
I have read around forums quite often actually that people's rankings are suffering so possibly however I don't think it's anything concrete at the moment, I think it's just a case of seeing more than usual

Was my site hit by Panda or Penguin? Looking for diagnosis help
My URL is: www.westlakedermatology.com Hello Mozers, I'm looking for some help or guidance as to why my site fell off the "rankings cliff" on 9/5. In the forums I hear a lot of others with a similar issue, and some speculation it is due to a Panda refresh. However, looking at our site we have unique content with each page having over 300-400 words (so it's not light or duplicate content). We get a lot of leads that verbally tell us our content helped answer some of their questions so I'm pretty confident its good for users. Can anyone see an issue with the content on our site? In terms of Penguin, I think our backlink profile is clean, our physicians do take part in providing content to various high quality and relevant websites/blogs. But we do not buy links or do anything in violation of Google's guidelines. In terms of brand, we are the biggest dermatology and plastic surgery group in the Austin area. So any brand implications to search should be on our side. Just looking for some sort of guidance or help, any suggestions would be great! Thanks,

Hit by Google updates; Some good advice needed
Hi, Here`s my domain http://www.kent-website-designer.co.uk/. Registered in 2007. We have took a big hit from the updates in the last 6 months and its really affecting revenue. I know when you look at the site you may well think WOW this is 2007 SEO and youre right it hasnt been updated in some time as of last year we ranked very highly and it gave us enough business to concentrate on. However up until last year many of my competitors were using same onpage and offpage strategies....and probably a few of you were too! So now the inquiries and income is drying up. However, I provided myself with an income from my efforts, rather than be unemployed, so I want to get it back on track. I visited the Google webmaster forums to query a couple of webmaster account queries and basically got beat up by the rude and arrogant google forum admins. Basically they said I was a spam site who shouldnt be in business. How very nice! 1. I have EMD - but domain age should mean something? 2. I lost a few links from https://www.getsafeonline.org/partners-and-supporters/ in the last year which hasnt helped when they reorganised their content. Same with other trusted sites we lost links. We are left with low quality links. 3. Some CMS sites have replicated our footer links on a large scale, which wasnt intentional but may look as link spam, plus they arent no followed as G prefers. 4. Google seems to have become intelligent? Apparently it can detect content which is negative in outdated seo advice. How, can it understand context and meaning so older seo advice isdetected as spam content? 5. No pages are de indexed just a rank drop to 30 - 60 positions. 6. Over optimised H1`s? 7. Is Pipe command in titles now negative? So its sink or swim time I guess. The siteand domain is honest but neglected and probably should re align the business with what we can offer. We got away with that SEO but clearly things have changed. However with no grey or black hat at least we arent overly worried by removing links. Also looking for an SEO company who we can outsource with a white label solution in order to offer SEO. I dont need beating up, short and to the point critiques please. Pros and Cons Many thanks.

Mission Possible? You have 3 hours to do Local SEO. Which top 5 sites do you go Social Bookmark, Local Search Engine Submit and Directory List.
Mission Possible? Here is a test. Suppose you had 3 hours (okay 7) to go and submit links, etc, on Social Bookmarking, Local Search Engines and Directories, which top 5 or more of each would you do? (Assuming your on-page is already sweetened). I just got 2 more clients and I need to get started on a few things for each. Thankful for all your advice.............

Avoiding 301 on purpose; Landing homepage linking to another domain with "Click here to go" and 5 sec meta refresh
Hello, Some users when they search for our site by using "ourbrand" keyword that ignore the first result (we will call it here ourbrand.de -not real name-) and they look for ourbrand.com . Even though we have that domain name also registered (indeed it also has a high ranking power) we are doing a 301 from the dot com to the dot.de . What we want to do is to index the homepage of the dot com, that is http://www.ourband.com as a secondary result while doing a 301 to any other internal URL of the dot com to the dot .de. Yes, we will loose link juice for the main domain but at least we will not loose visits from the brand traffic (which is our main traffic). So the question is, would Google index ourbrand.com if we show just a landing page that just show our logo, a "Click here to go to ourbrand.de" with a link to http://www.ourbrand.de and a meta refresh of 6 seconds to that URL? Additionally a cookie would be sent to the first time visitors, so in the next time they would be automatically redirected. PS: The 6 seconds is to avoid search engine consider it a "301" like it do with short meta refresh (not sure what time is the minimum to avoid be considered a 301). Any other suggestions on how to deal with this problem are welcomed

Pages that takes more then 1,5 second to load penalized?
Hi all I just read an article (print) about the importance of af having a fast website. The author claims that all pages that are taking longer than 1,5 second to load is getting penalized in the SERPS. Speed is of course a ranking factor. But I have never heard a statement like this before. Is 1,5 second a guideline from Google? Can anyone say, where this number is coming from? Is there maybe another guideline to be followed? Thanks in advance for your comments / answers 🙂 Best regards, Kenneth Karl Nielsen

How to determine the correct number of ad units post-Panda
What guidelines are you using to determine the correct number of ad units? Also is it number of units per page or the size of the ads (visually)? Any additional guidance or links you can point me to regarding ads in a post-Panda world would be helpful.
