SEO & Social | More SEO effect by liking the page URL rather than the Facebook Page?

I am wondering what our best implementation strategy shoul dbe around linking up the Facebook Like button on our pages.
Essentially there are two options:
A) Linking the button directly to the Facebook Page of the web site so every Like is actually converting into a Facebook "Fan" which can be messaged going forward through our Facebook page.
B) Having them like the actual URL which might be more beneficial from an SEO and viral perspective as now a link to the actual URL gets shared on the Liker's facebook wall and it should also be easier to use that lIke for Google & Co. as it's tied to the actual URL not a random Facebook page given that search engines already convert those signals.
Both approaches obviously have their benefits. Are there any common guidelines on what is a better approach to take from a pure SEO perspective?

Hi Thomas,
I think this is a question that comes up often. One way to do it is to have both types on your page like we do on our blog. You'll notice the SEOmoz page "like" in the right nav bar, and the post "like" at the bottom of the post. If you're trying to figure out the best thing to do purely for SEO purposes, then I'd say you want them to like the actual URL of the content.
I say that because Google now shows social sharing in the SERPs. So if for example you're logged in and do a search, if you have a connected friend on FB who has shared content on that topic it would show their face in the SERPs.

Facebook Likes count and site migration to HTTPS
Hi everyone, We are currently migrating our website to HTTPS and, in the process, have read lots of different things about what happens to the social share counts afterward. My primary question is about the Facebook "Likes" count that is displayed on a website's Facebook page - does anything happen to that data when a website switches to HTTPS? What do you do when your Facebook page is Unpublished?
The page in question has been there for about 5 years and has about 80 followers. It is for a business that sells steel plate (B2B) and everything is totally compliant with Facebook T&C as far as I can tell. It's been unpublished with the statement "Your Page has been unpublished and it cannot be published again." We did an appeal about 6 weeks ago and heard absolutely nothing.... Generally we got no likes, no comments and reached about 20 people with each post. So I am lost as to why we were banned and lost as to what we do next It's fine if they want to unpublish - it's their site - what's frustrating is the arbitrariness, the lack of information as to why it was banned and lack of communication. Facebook Page Banned and Removed Due to Negative Comments Against A Single Post - How to Recover?
Hello. I'm working with a very reputable company - and their Facebook page has completely disappeared. Yesterday, a random visitor flagged a couple posts as abusive, and today the page is gone. Some sort of negative social tactic. Has anyone experienced this and is there a way to recover? Is there a way to have Facebook reinstate the page? Thanks for any guidance you can provide!

Merge Facebook profiles for SEO?
We are considering merging facebook profiles for our three stores. If we do this, users will not be able to "check in" at a location, but wouldn't it be better to have 4,000 fans on one profile than to have 2,500, 1,000, and 500 fans on the three profiles? The main site for these stores is also an ecommerce site.

Is there any SEO benefit to hosting your Facebook photos on your own site?
I will often post photos that I have taken to my Facebook page (either personal or my fan page). Sometimes these can get lots of likes. I got thinking that perhaps I host these photos on my site (i.e. www.example.com/images/photo1.jpg) and then share that "page" on Facebook. That way any of the likes would be counted towards my site. What do you guys think?
