How good really is Yahoo Directory Listing is on SEO optimization
-
I just god the approval from Yahoo Directory Listing today. How should I expect ranking increase just with that on google, yahoo and bing in the next couple of days ?
-
Just a quick extra note: Bing and Yahoo have the same results. Some months ago Bing and Yahoo made an agreement to have Bing serve up Yahoo's natural search results and Yahoo took control of the paid adwords side.
P.S.I think it is a link worth having as a long term link building plan.
-
In no particular order:
- Broadly speaking, I wouldn't expect any backlink to deliver immediate results on rankings within a couple of days, or even a couple of weeks. The only time I could envision such fast results would be through a really big MSM link.
- Dollar for dollar, there are other directory submissions that pass good link credit for much cheaper.
- Directory links are good. But what about the quality of your content? How about blogging? Guest blogging?

Technorati - SEO Benefit?
Would listing my content / blogs on Technorati have an SEO benefit? A few months ago, I did a piece of analysis on our competitiors' link profiles and then ranked the linking root domains to get the highest scores. Technorati was one of the domains with a high domain authority and is also relevant to our business. On the other hand, I've seen on whiteboard Friday's that directories are losing their importance. My gut feeling is that this is something that is worth doing because it is easy to implement but that we shouldn't expect amazing returns in terms of traffic / page authority scores. Your opinions would be much appreciated 🙂

Would anyone be interested? Thank you Dmitri

Ecommerce seo - competitors are using spammy links to rank HELP
After setting up SEO Moz and whilst waiting for it to crawl my site i have checked out my competitors who are ranking for the keywords i am going after. It appears from what i can see in OSE that they are ranking with back links from spammy looking sites and lots of exact match anchor text. I have tried to match a few links with what they have currently without getting myself into anything too spammy but i really don't want to follow how they have done it exactly. The niche i am in is pretty boring but the rewards are great but i am finding creating content and distributing it correctly difficult which is why i need some help. My site is roughly 9 months old and the product descriptions are hand written trying to give as much info as possible with a hint of personality so no cookie cutter back of the box descriptions. i have matched a few of the links from competitors which weren't too spammy and as relevant as i could get to my niche, i have also created articles for some article directories - all of which isn't really getting me very far and i am running out of ideas on how to create new content & the types of new content to help me get back links naturally. If any of you friendly guys could offer me some assistance in setting up a basic seo campaign which would help me target my keywords i would be very much in your debt

Google Listings EMD Bias
I've been looking at 60+ location based searches for the base two months and noticed a big issue I can't explain. I know EMD was hit hard in the general SERPs but it obviously has not effected the location SERPs. The main way I'm finding these situations is by seeing the 7 pack and it shows a site with only a quarter amount of the citations the other sites have and jumps to the top very quickly. It appears to be working because of the EMD bias in the Local SERPs algorithm. From what I understand you are not suppose to add a TLD domain into a G+ listing and then 301 redirect it to your real domain but Google doesn't seem to mind at this point. I'm wondering if this tactic is a valid Local tactic at this time or if, from what I understand, it is a shady tactic that will end up hurting brand and have a strong chance of penalizing the real domain. 2012-12-13_10-45-39.png

Certainty or Uncertainty of SEO / Link Building
Hey there I'm new to both SEO and Seomoz. I have this personal site I've been working on SEO wise (slowly since I started learning from 0) and I have reached a point where the only missing thing for me to do is build links. However, the competitors for my site have thousands of links. From all I've read on the web regarding SEO&LinkBuilding, including articles in this site...the old method of spamming links wherever/whenever possible is now being penalized while the practice of manual/hand-built links of higher quality and lesser quantity is rewarded. So I went ahead and approached several linkbuilding companies and one thing that struck me was the level of uncertainty regarding the chances of getting a site to get to the first page. I understand there's factors you cannot predict or control, such as what your competitors are doing on the SEO front...but ultimately, I'm curious as to how do you effectively gauge the possibility of getting to the top page of any keyword combination? Especially when dealing with clients... since apparently whoever 'guarantees' you anything is a fraud or uses blackhat techniques...how do you pitch the 'uncertainty' to the client? Likewise...how do you know if you can make it to the top page or viceversa? Cheers

Could H1 be really important in our niche
Hello, I've been analyzing our top competitors since we dropped in rank recently, and all the people who did not drop in rank as well (looks like an algorithm change) and are ranking well have an H1 with their keywords in it. keyword "NLP" our site: nlpca(dot)com Could the H1 be really important in our case?
