How useful/ damaging is it to have links repeated on every page ?
-
Our site is dynamic in nature we have tens of thousands of indexed pages with numerous individual brands pages - all of the brand pages are equally important.
We are trying to distribute link juice to those pages as much as possible - so my question is --- Is it smart and or useful or perhaps damaging or spammy to have a space on the bottom of each page throughout our site with links to each and every single brand page ? is this practice considered as duplicate content etc ?

It's still viable.
In regard to your points

If you were to include a large footer on tons of pages with little content that would not be good, but a small footer repeated on pages with a lot of content is fine. Also, supposedly Google looks at common code globally on pages and strips it away from the equation (boilerplate) They still follow the links and pass PR but just don't take the external template stuff into major consideration. So your main content section is mostly what is being graded to determine rankings.

Well Google likes anchor text within content, so if it fits what you are doing, then within content is better, but a list will not hurt. If you have MANY items it gets very sloppy looking, so in that case I would suggest using jquery like this site does, this way you can get all of the links on the page in a SEO friendly way, ensuring they will all get spidered and pass PR without making a bad visual/user experience with tons of links on the bottom of the page. You can see when you click on a section in the footer it then expands to show the links for that section, very elegant.

Thank you for the awesome response - i appreciate it.
The thing is - though its true that nearly all the targeted pages are fully optimized (URL, title tag, H1, etc) and the links are globally placed in the footer...
couple things to point out:
- All of the footers are identical repeated on every page across the site
- the links are displayed as a list of brands not as a piece of of content instead its all just text links with the anchors being Ford cars, GM Cars, etc;
I know this was a pretty soild way to control the link juice a few years back - im just wondering if thats still the case ? or is it actually a negative thing to do and can it cause more harm than good.
Thank you

That is called a robots nav, and it is a good SEO strategy for passing PR to MAIN pages you are targeting while not being something that draws attention to the user to click on. Strictly made to pass PR.
Look how this site is doing it in their footer. There are 6 links in that footer all perfectly targeted with anchor text, pointing to perfectly targeted pages (URL, title tag, H1, Etc)

That being said, I would only do this on main targeted pages and not include dozens of links. Since this is a global footer you don't want it to be too long. It needs to be only a small percentage of the content on the page so that it does not appear to be duplicate content on all of the pages.

Unnatural Links To Your Site — Impacts Links warning, Should I do something?
Hi, I got: "Unnatural Links To Your Site — Impacts Links Google has detected a pattern of unnatural artificial, deceptive, or manipulative links pointing to pages on this site. Some links may be outside of the webmaster’s control, so for this incident we are taking targeted action on the unnatural links instead of on the site’s ranking as a whole. " I don't see any dropping at rankings, could the best solution here to be, just to leave everything as it is and be more careful with the link building in the future? Or is there a danger that Google gives further penalties if I don't act on this one do something? I am little afraid that if I start removing links, my rankings will drop, even though they have remained same if don't do anything? Any help is appreciated.

Inbound Links not showing. Links are not no follow
Over the past several months I have definitely received inbound links to my website ( none of which are no follow). I have HubSpot as well s Moz and none of the links are showing. My competitors with the same link sources are showing though. I am completely dumbfounded. Why are my inbound links not showing and how much time does it take for them to show if they show at all? Thank you!

How much time does it take for the links to be forwarded to redirected link?
Hi there,
Link Building | | MoeezLodhi
Thank you for taking out some time for this question; I have changed the permalinks last week for a website.. I forgot to redirect old permalinks to the new one.. So I did 301 redirection, it has been 4-5 days since I did that but the links are not forwarded to the new Permalink so far.
How much time should I wait for the links to be forwarded to the new permalinks? Secondly, I am sure I have done the 301 redirect correctly, as when I go to the old url / permalink it directs me to the new permalink. So I am sure 301 is done correctly. Do I need to submit the sitemap again?0 -

Removing spam back links (Using GWM and SEOMOZ)
Hi, I have noticed that I have got some unwanted spammy back-links. I want to get rid of them. From what I read on Internet, there are two ways to doing it. Using disavow tool in GWM. Contacting individual webmaster and asking them to remove the mentions or links. I have already added the links in the disavow tool and Google has accepted the request. Is it necessary to ask those webmasters to remove the link as well?

Diluted Link Pages
When looking at a competitor's links, is it worth the time to try to get listed on sites they're listed on if all they seem to be are pages with links? Here's an example: http://blacktieaffairlimousines.com/links.html I'm finding a lot of these, along with other low quality links from sites in other countries such as China, that have nothing to do with their business. This is for a self storage company. Most of what I'm finding are what seem to be more "old school" link building (farming).

Root Domain Link for Affiliate's Link
It seems my affiliate link: http://www.hrmsplugins.com?partners=21 is not being considered as a "root domain" backlink when this link is used on their website. Is there a reason for this?
