Grading issues on my weekly report
-
Hi just had my weekly report on my website to show me how i am ranking in the search engines and i am puzzled, i have not changed my page except from one paragraph and the page has gone from a grade a to a grade f. can anyone explain how this works out
-
Hi Diane,
A few possibilities here.
1. Small changes can have a big impact. Even changing a single paragraph can cause your grade to go from an A to an F, or vice versa.
Fortunately, the complete report will tell you exactly how it scored your page. If you drill down into the report, it will even tell you what areas you need to fix.
You can see the full drill down by clicking on the keyword in the report overview. Here's a screenshot.
2. Check to make sure it's the same URL that is ranking. The On page report generates a report for the URL that is ranking for the current week, which can change from time to time. If a different URL is ranking this week from last, then the On-page grader will grade the new URL, which might have a completely different grade.
3. Unfortunately, without knowing the URL or keyword it's hard to tell you exactly what's going on. Feel free to ask a private question, or ping the help team if you want further help and you are not comfortable sharing this information in public.
Good luck!

hi, it keeps changing, one minute it is an a and then a f

Hi Diane,
Can you give us any more information here? Did this happen to just the one page, or many pages? Has it stayed the same since your original question, or has it returned to an A grade?
-
Hi there Diane.
How much content was in that paragraph that you changed? If you had , , _or _tags embedded, did you replace them elsewhere? What about the targeted keyword for that page which went from an A to an F? Was it replaced exactly as you were tracking it or did you use a similar phrase/word?__
****__The grader goes into great detail as to what best practices should be incorporated. If you follow it step by step, you'll re-attain that "A" that you're looking for and DESERVE !!!!
Best of luck!__****

Shall I hide short product review texts from customers (to avoid google panda/quality issues)?
About 30% of product reviews that the clients of our ecommerce store submitted in the last 10 years are 3 words or less (we did not require any minimum length). Would you recommend to hide those very short review texts? Where to draw the limit?

Numeric star rating would still go into our accumulated product rating. My only concern here is what impact it may have on google ranking.
To give some context, the site has for a long time some panda/phantom related issues where there are no obvious reasons that we could point to.0 -
Wondering if creating 256 new pages would cause duplicate content issues
I just completed a long post that reviews 16 landing page tools. I want to add 256 new pages that compare each tool against each other. For example: Leadpages vs. Instapage Leadpages vs. Unbounce Instapage vs. Unbounce, etc Each page will have one product's information on the left and the other on the right. So each page will be a unique combination BUT the same product information will be found on several other pages (its other comparisons vs the other 15 tools). This is because the Leadpages comparison information (a table) will be the same no matter which tool it is being compared against. If my math is correct, this will create 256 new pages - one for each combination of the 16 tools against each other! My site now is new and only has 6 posts/pages if that matters. Want to make sure I don't create a problem early on...Any thoughts?

DA dropped 7 pts in one week as well as our competitors. Is something going on?
We have consistently had a 70 in DA and now all of the sudden we are at a 63 as well as seeing the same considerable drop among our competitors. This was odd as I have not seen this type of drop in DA since being with the company. Any ideas are appreciated.

Duplicate Content Issues :(
I am wondering how we can solve our duplicate content issues. Here is the thing: There are so many ways you can write a description about a used watch. http://beckertime.com/product/mens-rolex-air-king-no-date-stainless-steel-watch-wsilver-dial-5500/ http://beckertime.com/product/mens-rolex-air-king-stainless-steel-date-watch-wblue-dial-5500/ Whats different between these two? The dial color. We have a lot of the same model numbers but with different conditions, dial colors, and bands.. What ideas do you have?

Has anyone else noticed a big change in SERPS in the past week or two
We've had a massive change in our position, we were pretty stable on certain keywords for quite some time, however in the past week we were bouncing around and then thrown completely off with some of our keywords dropping to page 4 and some to page 2. I've noticed a lot of changes on the google uk serps, and not sure if it is just a penguin refresh or if its a new one that hasn't been announced. anyone else notice?
