Should I make All My "Non-Money" Pages No-Follow?
-
I'm branching out here from my novice seo status . . .
In an effort to channel page rank to the pages I wish to rank for should I make all my non-money pages no-follow. Pages like "contact us", "about us", "application", etc. It seems to make sense to make these no follow so the page rank flows to the pages I wish to rank for.
Am I on the right track?

that is pagerank sculpting and no longer works for SEO.
If you have 5 links on a page and want link juice to go to only 2 and nofollow the other 3 links on the page, the link juice will not go 50/50 to those two dofollow links.
Instead the link juice will still get divided by 5 and you will be throwing away the PR that would normally have been passed to those 3 links.

Hey Jason, I personally wouldn't. Based on what I have read here, the juice on the nofollow links is basically just wasted
http://www.seomoz.org/blog/google-maybe-changes-how-the-pagerank-algorithm-handles-nofollow
So it doesn't help you at all is just a lot of work. And remember, juice that goes to your "contact us" page also goes from that page to your navigation, i.E. also your "money pages".
I would rather spend my time optimizing the internal navigation, for example. Or creating content. It all depends on the specific site, though!

Hmmm,
I would personally think that a few years ago this might have done just this, but these days I assume it would have less of an impact.
I am definitely interested to hear others opinions, but just from current Google "Buzz" (no pun intended) I think this might be an effort that could hurt you more than help you.
I would focus more with on page SEO to help users and Search Engines understand which pages you want to rank for what keywords. Personally I don't like "SEO Tricks" that we think fools Google into doing what we want. It usually seems to backfire sooner or later.
But i could be completely wrong as i have never run tests on this scenario
w00t!

You should not. You can mark the inbound links nofollow. Despite this Google will probably find the page and is you keep the outbound links the page still gives some page rank to the other pages.
Another consideration is that non-money keywords can still hold important keywords that bring people into your buying funnel. If you have important keywords there you shouldn't even nofollow links. You should definately keep the contact us as it contains valuable information for local seo.

New Page Not ranking?
One of this client's top keyword is "oak beams". They already rank well in the UK for other related terms like "reclaimed oak beams" at /reclaimed-oak-beams/ and "air dried oak beams" at /air-dried-oak-beams/ We have created a page at /oak-beams/ but this page ranks nowhere? Instead the reclaimed oak beams or air dried oak beams page ranks for the term "oak beams". Any ideas why Google is swapping between those pages and not choosing the /oak-beams/ page? A few notes are that the /oak-beams/ page is newest page on the site and yes I know there are no links pointing to it but there are no links pointing to the other pages either?

Page title contents
In my page title, I have my product name. Is it beneficial to also include another keyword like: Buy wedding dress online Australia: e..g. (page title) amelie wedding dress | buy wedding dress online Australia. Or is it better just using: Amelie wedding dress

Does no-follow for pages affect site ranking?
Hey, I have a question. On my site, it's divided into the main site and the blog is in a subfolder of same domain. Within the main site (same domain), there are MANY checkout pages and other internal pages we use though all with "NO FOLLOW" on each. Despite it having "NO FOLLOW", will it affect our blog rankings in any way or domain ranking?"

"irrelevant pages of a site"
Hi there! Some pages of my site like "contact" or "registration": Should they have a title and a description tag? They are pages that I don't want them to be shown in the SERPs....Could I be penalized by google If I don't do so? The SEOMOZ crawling tool warms me about this issue (to short titles, no meta-description tags....) Many thanks

I am optimizing title tags and was wondering if it makes a difference if I use "commas" in between keywords that are synonyms or should I use "and" instead?
For example: "pants, trousers at pants.com" or "pants and trousers at pants.com".

With or without the "www." ?
Is there any benefit whatsoever to having the www. in the URL? My domain is quite long therefore I've not been using the www. however a few people have mentioned it's good practice to include it. The www. forwards to the main URL (non www.) and I've set my preferred domain name in webmaster tools to the non www. so I'm thinking that should all be ok. Just hoping I could get some of the experts views to make sure this is all ok. The site is a year old and I'm just starting to really get going on the link building so it's not too late to change if I'm wrong. If others link to my site and include the www. will the link juice be passed, as I suspect many will include it without any thought?
