.com links for .co.uk domains
-
Hi,
I was wondering whether .com links from the US for .co.uk domains increase the search engine visibility of .co.uk domain in the UK just as much as .co.uk links for .co.uk domains (assuming they are all top quality content links)?
(Context: I have heard that it does from someone who should know, but I would like to double check on that)
If half of the backlinks for a .co.uk domain are from .com domains in the US is this a dangerous pattern Google would pick up on?

Good points from Lee. Adding on that, in general: if you get more .co.uk links, you'll be better found in the UK than in the US. If you get a lot of .com links, your findability will be less in the UK and higher in the US. Google will determine that, considering the things Lee said, you might be relevant to US searchers.
And then there is the IP. A .com domain can be hosted in the UK. Adding more to your UK relevance than your US relevance.
And than you have the links the .com domain receives... Same thing...
So not so straight forward to answer.

Hi
I've found that the more local you keep the links the more relevant they become, irrelevant of .com or .co.uk
If a .com domain who uses keywords of say, London Car dealers, and your website is (for example) London Car Parts, then the domain suffix becomes less significant. The link's relevance becomes higher because they are directly related.
If your keywords are London Car Parts, and you get a link from Shanghai Carpet fitters .com then both sets of criteria become irrelevant.
That's what I've found in my experience. Others may have another slant on this.

Link Building where link building is dead. Latest tactics in a land of content.
Hello, What is your latest link building techniques considering manual link building is basically dead, and you should really build good content to drive results. Link building has really become less important. It seems to be much more 10X content now. What would you recommend for basic link building considering this besides the 50 first Links video by Rand, which is excellent. Thanks, Bob

GWT Lists URLs with links to my site, but those URLs don't have links to my site
There are a number of URLs that show up for my website in Webmaster Tools as having links to my site when in fact they don't. I know this to be a fact because I actually wrote some of the sites that Google is saying are linking to my site and I know there isn't any links on the specific pages to that site. For example, the site in question is: https://www.liftproducts.com/ As an example, Google is saying that about 100 URLs from https://www.lift-tables.net/ are linking to it when, I'm fairly confident that there is only 1 link to it found here: https://www.lift-tables.net/info.php?countrytabs=3 Yet Google says links exist on this (and many more) page: https://www.lift-tables.net/liftproducts/max-lift/lpt4w-030-48.php I thought at first it might have been due to linking to a image file directly instead of locally hosting it, but after checking the source, that's not the case. I am also seeing this type of non-linking being reported on sites I have no clue what they are. For example, some Spanish site about tandem bicycles is being listed as linking to liftproducts.com: http://206-225-85-34.dedicated.abac.net/tandem/inc Yet I can find no evidence of an actual link existing. Am I missing something here? Any insight of why this is happening and how I can clean up my link signature would be appreciated.

Are there any other webmasters in the MOZ community that are interested in creating multiple high quality link exchanges? Our company has a decent size client list we are interested in building links for.

Any benefits to having Wikipedia links now they are 'no-followed' (apart from traffic and natural link prof.)
I see that Wikipedia outbound links are all no-followed, is there any benefit (aside from the traffic) for having links here now ? For example is their co-citation and co-occurance benefits. I know there is without the links since from seeing previous Moz content about this saying Google getting good at connecting brand/s and topic mentions on a page (without any links) so appreciate Wikipedia is still good for that sort of thing. And a no-followed link is obviously good for the potential traffic. But is there any additional SEO benefit to having a no followed link on a wikipedia entry/stub too ? (aside from its contribution to your no-followed links which in turn contribute to a natural looking link profile) Cheers Dan

How many nofollow links should we build to have a natural link profile
Hi guys, As with many link builders we have been building lots of dofollow links for our site, so many that mainly our incoming links are dofollow. Some pages have 99.5% dofollow external links which I know is not very natural. In your experience in terms of percentage how much should you have in terms of nofollow external links in your link profile. I noticed SEOMoz has about 12-13% nofollow external links, shall I go with this figure? Thanks guys. David

Dripable.com and dripfeed.com. I really see no value whatsoever in any service like this. If anyone has an opinion that differs from mine. Go ahead.
I cant believe people are still using services like this. The interesting thing is that they do seem to offer great customer service, but that "service" seems to only spin comment spam and back profile backlinks. Id love for our community to discuss more sites like this so that Junior SEO's or people just starting dong get wooed by the promise of AWESOME links. Cheers,

.edu links
Hi mozzers, I've had some great success reaching out to many .edu webmasters. Often they are professors and such. My question is, i'm guessing during the summer holiday period, reaching out to these webmasters won't be so fruitful. I'm not in the US and was wondering when the US Summer holidays are for universities over there? Also, does anyone have experience outreaching to these webmasters over the holidays? Peter

Linking domains on same ip
I don't know if i can post a link in the question so if you google 800 appliance and do a little reaserch on them you will see that it has many links with same content linking to the main domain and to each other. They hosted on the same ip which from what i read doesn't supposed to help in ranking. I saw many nich websites like this with the same idea. What am i missing here...?
