Google Penalty?
-
Hi,
I have recently been asked to help www.mycanvas.ie I have a feeling they have a google penalty. All their Google Keywords have literally dropped out of the Google SERP but they are still shown on Yahoo SERP.
I recently did a site:www.mycanvas.ie and the pages are still in google index.
The only thing that comes to mind is that the site owner submitted to 380 web directories over a period of 2 months with http://www.directorymaximizer.com/ do you think this could be causing the problem with google?
Advise and suggestions are welcomed, thank you.

sure will thanks for your input it's really appreciated.

remove the keyword stuffed and double instances of the title and meta tags too prior to submitting a request for reconsideration to Google this way when they manually review the site they see it doesn't look spammy .
Only one instance of "canvas" and "canvases" in the title and meta description. Lose the keywords meta altogether, keywords meta won't help in Google it can only hurt.
Send them as much technical info about the hacking as possible.

They are hosted in Ireland with www.register365.com I will get in contact with them. I just hope the site returns back to it's original way once these issue are addressed. I will also see if wordpress needs to be updated.
-
Yup, hacked as I thought. If you have paid hosting like godaddy or hostgator call them and tell them the site was hacked, their IT team will run forensics on the site and remove any malware or exploits they find on your site that the hacker(s) did.
-
cool i will need to address all these issue with him so.
I also noticed this hack on the site http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:UgQ4BqgxlEIJ:www.mycanvas.ie/%3Ftag%3Dphoto-canvas+how+does+viagra+work+mycanvas&cd=2&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=ie

You can't stuff keywords like that and expect Google not to have a problem with it. <title>**Canvas** Prints | Photo on **Canvas** | **Canvas** Photo Gift | Dublin | My **Canvas**title>
<meta name="description" content="Photo to Canvas Prints and Canvas

that could indicate that his site was hacked if that is the list of keywords most relevant for the site.
also, I see two meta keywords and two meta descriptions on the page. Also, keyword stuffing for "canvas"
Looks like a lot of issues here needing to be looked into.

I have also noticed in his google webmaster account his keywords are phrases like - tramdol, viagra, pharmacy, xanax etc etc - this is very weird..

I have to do that, I will look into this now...

Hi,
I definitely think this could be one of the reasons that the rankings have been effected. If the web directories that were submitted were of a low quality in terms of domain and page ranks this could have a negative impact on rankings.
Have you used the SEO Moz tools to compare the sites top links with other competitors. This should give you a clearer picture and help you figure out if the possible low quality web directories are causing an issue?
Daniel.

Google is indexing bad URLS
Hi All, The site I am working on is built on Wordpress. The plugin Revolution Slider was downloaded. While no longer utilized, it still remained on the site for some time. This plugin began creating hundreds of URLs containing nothing but code on the page. I noticed these URLs were being indexed by Google. The URLs follow the structure: www.mysite.com/wp-content/uploads/revslider/templates/this-part-changes/ I have done the following to prevent these URLs from being created & indexed: 1. Added a directive in my Htaccess to 404 all of these URLs 2. Blocked /wp-content/uploads/revslider/ in my robots.txt 3. Manually de-inedex each URL using the GSC tool 4. Deleted the plugin However, new URLs still appear in Google's index, despite being blocked by robots.txt and resolving to a 404. Can anyone suggest any next steps? I Thanks!

Why is my site crawled so much more in Bing then in Google?
I recently setup Cloudflare so I can see how much my site is being crawled. It looks like Bing is crawling me about 3 times as much as Google. Any ideas on why that would be or what I should check?

URL gets cut off in Google
Hi everybody, I got a question concerning my website URLs. It's a large WordPress website and we've got a lot of categorised pages ('parent' / 'child'). Now when I search for a specific page I only get to see the 'parent' name in the URL. The page which I am looking for isn't visible. Only a small arrow which shows me 2 options (in cache and compare). The URLs are not too long. Does anybody know why this happens, and how I can solve it? I added a image for reference. (Where /partners/ is the parent page and /partners/aruba/ isn't visible) Thank you very much. LSsT1Ua

Google Analytics - Custom Variables
Hi guys, I'd appreciate any advice with this one. At the moment I'm in the process of arranging a URL re-structure. I was wondering what the best way would be to track the performance of the old URLs against new ones? We will be ammending the URLs for any new property pages which go live on our website but leaving the old URLs in play for any old properties listed. We're taking this approach for the moment so we can conduct analysis on the change. It has been mentioned to me that placing a 'setvariable' in the code of pages with the old URLs and ones with the new URLs would be a way of tracking performance. However, my knowledge in this area is a little bit grey. Any advice? Cheers, Mark

How is Google finding our preview subdomains?
I've noticed that Google is able to find, crawl and index preview subdomains we set up for new client sites (e.g. clientpreview.example.com). I know now to use "meta name="robots" and robots.txt) to block the search engines from crawling these subdomains. My question though, is how is Google finding these subdomains? We don't link to these preview domains from anywhere else, so I can't figure out how Google is even getting there. Does anybody have any insight on this?

Google Analytics
I usually have Google analytics "real-time" running on one of my monitors, occasionally I glance at the screen to see that are TOP KEYWORDS people are using, lately there have been a lot of long-tail keywords. If I try to copy and paste the queries into google, i can never seem to find us organically for the long-tail searches? Is the real-time feature accurate? Thank you!
