Expired traffic and 301 value
-
Hi Folks,
Here is our situation
we have an old brand domain
www.asia-hotels.com >> that was redirecting to>>www.asiahotels.com
By mistake, we let that domain expired and only noticed the drop a month later
We lost all our pages and this for several weeks Not sure of the exact date but approximately around 24th of December, what a merry Xmas!
Since then we have repurchased the domain, Put back all the pages as they were and re-instated all the 301 redirect as they were.
Since that date we haven't seen any uplift in our visits or visibility score.
Did we do something wrong with our 301 redirect? I know for sure we used ISAPI rewrite mod for the non www. domain although I am not entirely sure how the www. version has been handled.
Is there something we should do at a DNS level to flag the site is back? Should we presetn a reconsideration request?
Any help would be greatly welcomed.
Thanks for your help.
Cheers,
Freddy
More info
I placed a bit more info and the visits graph on my blog:

I am not sure if this is due to the fact that some information is cached but when i looked at the site on opensiteexplorer I found that the data is still showing as non redirected sites:

I'm following up on old questions here, and wondering how this ever turned out for you. Are you back to your previous traffic yet? Do you have any hints for others in this situation (as yes, we have seen other people in this situation!). Thanks!

I would check to see how you are doing the redirect. According to a header check here, the asian-hotels.com is a 302 and not a 301.
Although the www version is a 301. So I am guessing you have the non www redirecting to the www version which then redirect to the new site?
This does not explain your issue however as the redirect is only hopping twice.
Are you doing a site wide 301, or a per page 301? I would think a site wide, but you mentioned that you put the pages back up.
Redirect 301 / http://www.asiahotels.com/

Rank a site that was 301'd
We had a customer that had 2 sites. They left us, and 301'd site A to site B. Things didn't go well. Now, a year later they want to use us again. Ideally, I would undo the 301. Has anyone done this? Would I be better off starting with a new domain? If you've done it, how long before it started to rank like you expected/hoped?

Did I cause my 70% drop in organic traffic?
Held top 10 SERPS for brands over the past few years, did a site redesign on May 19th, site used to have a long left hand nav consisting of each brand I carried. Site redesign was an attempt to make it cleaner and more compact. Now the site has a top nav menu with categories based on garment type and the addition of a brand category, no fly out nav menu, these links just open the sub-category page. On the 10th I checked my SERPS and almost threw up, off the map, no where to be found at all. Would a site redesign take almost 2 months to reflect? Am I being penalized by Google(no notification in GWT). I'm lost and thinking of how to tell my landlord I'm not going to be able to pay rent in a couple weeks.

301 redirect or 302
A client of mine has an international company named www.taxglobalizers.com if you come from Holland they 302 redirect you to the www.taxglobalizers.com/en version of the site and if you come from Holland they redirect with a 302 to www.taxglobalizers.com/nl version. I think it is best to change this in a 301 redirect. Am i correct in this? Kind Regards, Ruud

301 redirect Issues
my clients site is www.greenbayharvest.co.uk When you enter that URL it redirects to www.greenbayharvest.co.uk/shop, dont ask why, thats the way they set it up and thats what im stuck with. So, how do i resolve the 301 issue here. we want all things to point to www.greenbayharvest.co.uk, in terms of SEO but does the fact that there is a redirect going to /shop make this an issue? we appear to have: www.greenbayharvest.co.uk/shop www.greenbayharvest.co.uk greenbayharvest.co.uk greenbayharvest.co.uk/shop all these URL's go to the same same page so what is the best way to correct this? thanks for any help on this Lee

Redirect links add seo value?
Does anyone know if urls on the 'Websites' part of a LinkedIn public profile create any SEO value (meaning, does page rank flow)? The links looks like this: <a href="/redirect?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Espeechpad%2Ecom%2Fpage%2Fspeech-to-text&urlhash=Xk3F" target="_blank" title="New window will open" name="overviewsite">speech to texta>
